B up bars
Hi all. Have any of you tried the b up bars? I just started eating Quest bars to get some Fiber in and like what I have had. I am having awful (and I mean awful) constipation. I read that the b up have 20 g of fiber and 20g of Protein. 7 g fat. I would probably start with 1/3 of a bar. Any thoughts or feedback would be appreciated. Are they tasty? Nasty? Any other "asty" I should be aware of? Have a great day!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Let the rant begin...
I went to my sister's house for my nephews play a few weeks ago and saw her and my dad for the first time since I lost about 45 pounds. They didn't say anything about my weight loss. I actually told my friend when I came home I was a little hurt. Then my other sister called me and said "dad said you are looking great". It is weird that some people don't feel comfortable talking about weight while others feel it is their God given right to comment on everything surrounding them. I did feel better when my sister said that though Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

My 600 Pound Life: 2016 Season
I never watched this show before my surgery. But now I watch the reruns as I am rowing on my rower. It really motivates me to go a few minutes more. Granted, their starting weight is much more than mine was, but I sometimes hear myself make an excuse I have heard on the show where I may have tsk tske'd them when they said it. It makes me try all the harder to exercise and eat right. It has to be harder on them than me and the participants who follow the plan succeed and those that don't, well, don't. Why do I find this so funny?
I am watching some old episodes of my 600lb. Life. Season 2 "James' story" He went to dr Now with his mom. Is her shirt the most appropriate. To wear to discuss weight loss surgery? Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

smoker questions...
I had said I quit as well and then they told me about the nicotine test. I quit July 7 2015 cold turkey and haven't smoked since. I did buy a Cotinine test on Amazon and it showed positive for about 3.5 weeks after my last smoke. I still have a bunch left. Send me a message with our address if u want me mail them to ya. I will say that I think the quitting smoking was the best thing I did followed by the weight loss surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

NSV shout outs
I have been having my friend at work take my measurements each month. She started a week after my surgery. We just did my third measurement I have solidly been losing inches and. E has me read off the original inches first. You have never seen someone so excited at my progress. I know that some might find the next thing she said as "wrong" but it made me laugh at her excitement and unbridled happiness at my progress. She said a few times that "this was the best game ever. I am a big winner with each and every measurement". It is nice to see the inches come off and to have such positive and engaged friends in my journey. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Tomato, Cucumber, Avocado Salad
My favorite snack pre surgery was tomato cucumber and lemon juice. I could eat it every night with chopsticks. I will try this once I am able to stomach cucumbers! Thank you. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Preop Jitters
I read a great book before surgery called the emotional toolkit that my pre op evaluator recommended. Part of that was a pros and cons list. It really helped me clarify what decision was right for me. Everyone is different but my decision was made when I had 3 in my con list and 22 in my pro list Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

13 days post op
Welcome! The best thing you could buy is an electronic kitchen scale. They aren't to expensive. Get one that has ounces and grams. You won't regret it. I believe 2 ounces is about a quarter cup. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Scared of the gym
I just started up at the gym and was dreading going. I was sure people would be staring at me as I am so out of shape and poor cardio. I have been doing the treadmill and am so focused on my audio book I barely notice anyone around me. I started with a personal trainer and there are these guys and 1 girl who always seem to be doing powerlifting right in front of where I have my training. Doesn't matter the day or time they are always there. Now they smile at me and when I do something particularly challenging they smile and nod at me. It's a nice feeling. The other day my trainer had me push a 50lb sleigh with an additional 50 pounds up the pathway and back 6 times. And I about passed out it was so challenging and the powerlifting crew actually cheered when I finished it. Kind of embarrassing , but kind of cool too. So bottom line, just bite the bullet and go, start slow and feel good that you are starting a positive habit In your life! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Protein Shake and dumping syndrome!
I remember seeing a few times people saying they like a GNC product called lean shake 25. I believe it is low carb/high Protein. I haven't tried it myself but maybe search lean shake 25 in this app to find out more. It may be a powder and not a ready to drink. I am sure the people at gnc would be able to advise you on a low carb high protein Meal Replacement. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Beware my fitness pal app update
Hi all. I just updated my fitness pal and now there are banner ads in the middle of the diary (at least for me). I don't mind the ads as the ap is free and awesome but the ads it is showing me are for uber food delivery and a few others for shopping. Both things I am trying to avoid. Haha. Now that I have downloaded for iPhone and have the ads I will tool around the ap and see if there are any new cool features. I really need to read the what's new before downloading. Though I doubt it said "we are adding banner ads" Have a great day Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
