  1. @@Babbs, well if it wasn't for vanity I wouldn't have much need for motivation, lol. So, I agree with you there. I think that by the time I hit my goal weight, I will work on trying to sculpt my body. If I lose weight in the process, then I'm cool with that. I had surgery so that my husband and I can try some fertility treatments after 18 months. We've tried for 10 years to have a baby without success. My OB GYN kept stressing the need for me to lose weight. Of course I was not successful with diet and exercise so I opted for surgery. I'm certain that not when I get pregnant there won't be much room for vanity, but I'm definitely excited about enjoying the sexier version of Me throughout this journey.
  2. I was just sleeved on 4/25 and at my two week post op follow up the surgeon and I both agreed that 155-160 lbs for me would be a good, healthy, and realistic goal to work towards as I have fairly large bone mass. I'm 5'5 and a normal healthy weight for me is supposed to be between 120 and 140 lbs. I just can't fathom being that small. I haven't weighed that little since I was 12 or 13 years old! I was the same height then as I am now, btw. I like my body being more curvalicious than the skinny girl I was in junior high school. I like my hips, my large breasts, and my big ol' booty and frankly, so does my husband! I'm not too concerned with how much I'm going to weigh in a year from now as long as I'm healthy AF!!

hair loss - when did you notice regrowth?

@@crazyplantlady, When did your hair loss start? I'm about a month post op and so far I have not lossed any more hair than usual. I'm hoping and praying that I won't lose much, because my hair is thin to begin with.

    Did you loose friends?

Well, I wish I had really encouraging words to offer that would ease your worries. Yet, I have to admit this was also a fear of mine and it just so happens that many of the friends I thought were my friends are turning out to only be fair weather friends. By that, I mean that they no longer seem to bother with me since my goals don't fall in line with their lifestyles, (my former lifestyle). I must say that prior to my surgery I partied more than I care to admit and those so called "friends" were very supportive of my decision to have WLS. However, they are nowhere to be found now that I'm almost a month post op. Even some of my female coworkers have started talking about me behind my back and are treating me differently now that I'm losing weight. I've come to realize though, that the friends that are still by my side now that I'm not so much of a "party" to be around are the ones that matter. My husband is truly supportive of my decision and does his best to be flexible with all my constant dietary demands and changes. If your bestie treats you differently after your relationship, then talk it out with her and let her know that you are still YOU, just a lot less of you. Tell her how important her support means to you and if she's really a friend worth having, then she'll support you through your journey even if it takes a little time for her to get used to the new you. Best wishes and good luck on your journey!

I sound like a bath tub!

I guess this is normal, because like the others have mentioned it happens to me too! I don't notice it during the day unless my environment is super quiet and I'm not moving around. Yet, at night when I lay down to go to sleep is when I hear it. My husband finds it hysterical, luckily. I wonder how much longer he'll think that way. I am almost a month post op and it seems to have gotten louder since I've been on soft foods, and yes, @rocketmomof5... it does come out one way or another!

I'm freezing cold ever since surgery!

@@MrsKarenC2008 - Air Five!! I think I'd much rather throw on layers than sweat my butt off like before as well! I used to sweat just sitting there, lol. I guess I may need to invest in a little space heater for the office.

I'm freezing cold ever since surgery!

@cindyw41- Oh, wow! That is scary!! Did you feel any other symptoms? Or just cold all of the time? My post op is 5/13. I'm hoping I can make it until then, because their office is terrible at returning phone calls.

I'm freezing cold ever since surgery!

@@Christinamo7 - LOL, that's too funny. I was always the one freezing out my household, now I'm making them sweat!!

I'm freezing cold ever since surgery!

@@KristenLe - Yes, I'm taking Iron in the form of a nasal spray prescribed by my surgeon and bariatric multis.
  10. So, ever since surgery (April 25,2016) I have been freezing!! My fingers, toes, nose, everything is so cold!! I am thinking perhaps I am low on iron since I'm not getting as many nutrients or calorie intake. But, it is to the point where it is almost unbearable. I'm cold at work, at home, no matter where I go. I'm normally very hot natured and everyone at home thinks I'm crazy when I tell them to turn up the temperature of the A/C. Is anyone else experiencing this post op?

How long was your hospital stay?

Hey you all! I just wanted to provide an update. So, my surgeon was very behind on surgery day (last Monday) and I didn't have my surgery until after 6pm that evening. I also had a hiatal hernia repaired. Everything went well. I had a lot of nausea, but it was expected. I was up and walking around by 2am to relieve some gas pains and indigestion. I was released from the hospital Tuesday night after I was finally able to keep fluids down. I returned to work today and I'm doing fine without pain meds. I just need to get through this liquid and mush diet! All else was easy-peasy.

@@anitavee, I sure hope it gets easier for you. I'm sorry that you're having a rough time. Praying for you.

How long was your hospital stay?

That's kind of what I'm afraid of. I can't sleep any where but in my own bed and I'm not too fond of hospitals to begin with. Yet, after reading everyone's responses, I'm nervous that they're going to send me home too soon. My surgeon's office seems to think that I'll be in and out of the hospital within hours and that I'll be ready to get back to work with few restrictions 3 days later.

    Weight gain already?!?!

I do drink at least one Premier Protein shake a day. I just can't handle too many more of them. Try the Isopure clear liquid protein! They're much easier to tolerate. They're pricey though, around $45 per case. However, 1 bottle lasts me all day and it's filling with 40 grams of protein, zero carbs and zero fat!

    1 day post op

My surgery date is April 25th and last night I received a bunch of meds in the mail which include liquid Tylenol, scar cream, Lidocaine, Pepcid, Omega 3, Zofran and a nausea patch. I was instructed to put the patch behind my ear the night before surgery to help with the nausea. I sure hope the patch in conjunction with the Pepcid and Zofran will help!!
