  1. I don't know if she is just really caffeinated, or if she likes having her eyebrows pushed up so far but I had to listen rather than watch. agree about the dogmatic attitude. and I agree with OKCPirate (of course- as we all should have a general policy to do so) her advice seems to be more appropriate for not your average WLS patient. I have a friend who was not honest in preop about a history of eating disorders - and it has caused extreme problems for her in the years since surgery. It has been painful to watch the repercussions. It is very important to address any issues before surgery, and then you will still have things surprise you that you didn't realize were a problem until later, and then more help is needed. But, it is NEVER too late! If you are struggling with any kind of eating disorder, find help! you are not a failure. *normal is a setting on the dryer.
  2. I meant to - but well. we got busy with life. I do have a number of pictures here or there because my kids challenged me a few years ago that I wasn't in their pictures (kids don't CARE that you are heavy, to your kids you are probably beautiful) well, that is because I am always the photographer! after that I made it a point to make sure I am in some of their pictures and once I get to the point of putting up before and after shots, I should be able to find something. Although I am not photogenic, never have been. all my life my mother got a roll of film back and said, TINA, do you have to constantly make faces???? (I can't help it, there is always something amusing going on) she loves digital cameras. she just deletes the weird ones now.
  3. it's nice to see your face!
  4. I already had a vitamix. I love that machine!
  5. that's fabulous! I will have to get a new suit before summer vacation - but don't know what size yet.
  6. well I would focus on liquids before even Protein. the more dehydrated you get the harder it is to get started again. you just have to make yourself sip sip sip - little bits. otherwise you will be more nauseated.
  7. well, the good news is if you DON'T like the new you - you can change! we'll be here to help you talk things out.
  8. I just laid on my left side with a pillow sort of supporting my tummy. in any case this should completely pass in a couple of weeks.

  10. only in the hospital, I am a committed side sleeper, even if I start out on my back I end up on my side. it was only uncomfortable when I was changing positions.
  11. at one month my doctor cleared me for yoga - but only you will know if your doctor has cleared you for more than walking - it is important because we all heal at different rates. whatever you do, go easy at first and see how your body responds, because this isn't a race. There are few things I enjoy more than my bedtime yoga routine. as far as hot yoga, as always, listen to what BigViffer says.
  12. that is so frustrating! I would keep after them and ask to speak to a manager if needed.
  13. for me - no. but I live in a family with young adults and a teen as well as a husband. So while I may be eating less, they are not,
  14. I'm a third recommendation for yoga/pilates. I have a pilates reformer and I like that machine a lot, but I do find the pilates more challenging than yoga. I really like the Peggy Cappy videos because she always has someone doing an easier version of the pose, a regular version and a challenging version, so you can grow with the program.
  15. It was my coworker's cousin - so I had a general idea about some serious problems with blood sugar and heart - but nothing specific that I could go into.
  16. I don't use a device. I use mapmywalk to track my workouts and periodically enter my food data for a check up on my calories.
  17. my doctors office uses this chart for sleeve patients.
  18. I love Babylon 5! David and I might have to find a way to rewatch that this coming winter.
  19. a week before my surgery a coworker (very small office) had her cousin die in the hospital immediately following WLS. I did not have the health issues he had and it didn't worry me. I was far more concerned that obesity would take my life than this surgery. However, that being said, anytime I have ever had surgery I did review my will and documents, just in case. I have children, one still a minor, and I think that is just being responsible. I didn't expect to die, but I didn't want to leave anything unclear.
  20. Fairlife milk, ocean spray cran grape diet (has splenda- so good on the rocks) or Vitamin Water zero (I like the orange, fruit punch and lemonaid).
  21. right because if you loose weight without surgery they think you do not need it. my insurance had the same thing. I met with my doctor for 3 months, she told me what I "should" eat, but the bottom line was I needed to not gain or loose very much at all. which was fairly easy for me.
  22. When I had my Hysterectomy last August, David and I watched all the different series and movies because he wanted to make sure I rested like I was supposed to
  23. I applied for FMLA to protect my job. HR had the paperwork indicating what was being done but they can not talk about it. I did tell my coworkers and manager, but if I had chosen not to they only would have known that I was going to be out for x amount of time on FMLA.
