  1. I wore home what I wore to the hospital - all I ended up needing was my toothbrush and toothpaste and my phone charger. We did have my laptop while husband was with me, and I sort of watched movies on it. I walked back and forth in my room so didn't need anything else and I really just wanted to sip Water and rest. and chapstick. I like carmex. I did use that also. please let us know how things go Tuesday! Welcome to the club~
  2. I am so excited for you! I a 5-6 pounds away from that particular goal and itching to make it.
  3. when you don't risk hurting yourself to shave your legs bending around is just so much easier without that belly in the way!
  4. well, it is fairly early in the process for me. next week I will be 3 months out and I have lost about 1/3 of my excess weight. I have a little flapping going on, but not much and the skin hasn't had time to go back. I do use a philosophy skin firming body lotion or else coconut oil as a moisturizer, so time will tell. if not, I'll get the skin removed later. it's better than my old fat arms!
  5. right after I got in my hospital room I was up doing some slow walking. At one month I was cleared for exercise other than walking.
  6. my doctor took me off it at a month except as needed, I still need it 2-3 times a week. I start getting a sour stomach and I know it's time to take one. talk to your team and see what they recommend.
  7. hang in there - stay in contact with your team and whomever is prescribing the anti depressants and know that all this is normal as you have a hormonal dump. I am not normally depressed and I went through a good month of depression after week 3. still not as perky as normal. sending you a warm hug.
  8. I really liked bone broth at that stage, it helps you heal and was very soothing. I also liked the outshine sugar free popsicles. the strawberry is my favorite.
  9. Thanks! Being a mother has been the making of me. Becoming a grandmother was a key factor in my decision for WLS. Happy Mother's Day, moms!
  10. not post sleeve experience, but I will say that about 10 years ago my marriage was falling a part. badly. husband had done some stupid things and I was finished. We had a lot against us. but we are people of faith, and I have children who I felt their best chance at a good life was if we could work things out. so I tried. but when my disabled son moved out I realized I couldn't have left at that time, so - after John moved to a group home things really fell apart for real. Husband went through 6 months of hell when we essentially separated (stayed in the same house, separate rooms, separate lives) while he let me grieve the real loss of the marriage I thought we had, and gave me time to see him make real changes. He also did the "love dare" I don't know if you've seen fireproof - but it came from that. He was SO patient with me. At the end of the day I knew I either had to make things right or let him go, and the idea of him being out there somewhere, not loving me was harder than doing the work to forgive and move forward. For us, we experienced a little bit of a miracle the day I decided to stay that confirmed things for us (God does wink from heaven sometimes, I find) He is a mechanic. He had lost his wedding band shortly before we separated. THE VERY day I told him I wanted to make things work his friend sent an email about a ring he had found on a post inside his car's engine bay. he had been driving that car FOR A YEAR with husband's wedding ring on a post in there. I knew that was God's little hug to tell me he was with us. Now, all these years later I am glad we did the hard work to make things right. But know this, it will take both of you. My first husband divorced me after 9 years. He did not want to work things out or get counseling. he just wanted OUT. you can't make someone stay. my second (good) husband was willing to do the hard work of making a good marriage. Wishing you all the best as you move forward and hoping that you can get good counsel. Let me also add right after surgery at week 3 I was ANGRY about everything and at everyone. then I was depressed for about a month, which is not like me. I have a good friend and my husband both that I am filtering every important decision through right now because I recognize that with the hormone dump I am not in a good position emotionally to make decisions on my own. not forever, but for now. Please consider that this may also be a factor going on with you right now. make any decisions carefully.
  11. I think you are on the right track, but I also had to add in a Protein bar, many days (some days I can eat more, some days I can not - same foods. no idea why) I do like the power crunch triple chocolate bar. my weight loss had stalled, when I added in the bar I started loosing again. although if you want to stay with whole foods, perhaps a boiled egg as a snack would do well. wrap that cheese stick in a slice of deli meat maybe? just a couple of ideas.
  12. reducing heat or styling products will only help prevent breaking hair, not it falling out. I am almost 3 months, so far no unusual hair loss - but we'll see. I eat an egg most days, and they are a good source of Protein and Biotin. I always make my protein goals, and loosing on the slow side, so hopefully haven't freaked my body out too much. time will tell. I think if it is going to happen it will.
  13. I use lettuce too - I make a big mac salad that is so YUMMY and I love it. I can't say I eat a *lot* of lettuce, but I do enjoy it. I love spinach and kale too - one of the things I do almost ever weekend is a ground meat blend so that the peeps can make tacos, or nachos or whatever during the week and I can make my lettuce wraps or big mac salad or whatever.
  14. I bought the opurity ones for right after surgery too - and they were expensive! so I have made myself use them up. I take the last one today! and then back to a regular Multivitamin I get at whole foods that is for women. I get the under 40 kind for now because it has Iron, but I am hoping that down the road they will say I can take the ones without iron, due to I have had a hysterectomy and don't think I'll need it later on.
  15. I just had my birthday and I am so grateful for the chance at a new life! I had a power crunch triple chocolate Protein bar. my family was disappointed that there was no cake, but that's ok. they will have cake this next weekend when Liz graduates. Wishing you a happy Birthday and a wonderful year to come!
  16. Thanks! I was on the lap top. I will try again tomorrow. I feel better knowing I won't miss any visitors. You are always so helpful and I do appreciate it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. if I have multiple tabs open - and one is the chat - will it let me know if anyone else comes in the room, or do I have to babysit it?
  18. there is no aspect of my life that is not improved since surgery, and when you take that overall picture it adds up to me being one grateful girl. but probably the best thing is the hope I have at having my life on a different trajectory than it was on before.
  19. I am not coordinated enough to drink and walk at the same time.
  20. those feelings are all completely normal, but for me I can say it was totally worth pushing through! let us know how it goes for you.
  21. I had those same feelings - you're perfectly normal.
  22. I am not Catholic, but I have taken communion ever since my first week back at Church. I have not had any problems - and my surgeon said it was fine.
  23. well.. foot. I get a bad gateway error when I try to go in there. LET ME IN lol.
  24. well, you've just changed your life, and there's the post op healing and liquid diet. but you think you're hungry. truth is if you tried to eat you wouldn't be able to fit it really. your hormones start going weird. it is a lot to adjust to. with any other diet you can quit if you decide to, but with this you're in for a penny, in for a pound at the beginning anyway.
