Partner's opinions on loose skin?
so far "Saint David" as I like to call him has found me attractive at any weight, and before when I was expecting - he is in love with me. as I hope your man is with you. Healthy is sexy, and I hope that if you have loose skin that being healthy will make things better for both of you including this aspect of your relationship. However, I did make him promise that if I sit on or step on my nipples we would find the money for getting them put back where they belong, even if it means taking out a loan. the truth is he was more worried about me dying from a condition that could have been prevented than he was about my skin, after all - he plans to still be with me when I am 80 - and I haven't seen many 80 year olds I expect would look good naked.

No lie....I would kill for salad
for what it's worth I love balsamic vinegar on chicken breast chunks or steak chunks. not sure if those are allowed for you or not yet. also I love to roll up a little lunch meat with cheese and raw spinach, so when that is allowed it may be a high Protein thing that will scratch this itch for ya. you could even dip it into a little reduced calorie or else measured out dressing.

how long is approved insurance good for before getting surgery
it varies with insurance plans. for my policy once I got approval it was good for 12 months, and I had surgery the month after the approval.

changes
@@KristenLe usually if I accidentally turn my camera on all I see is two or three chins. so this was something different and positive.

changes
I happened to be holding my phone up looking for something (flashlight) and somehow hit the camera button. what I saw boggles the mind - I had to take and share a picture with you ladies. sometimes this process seems painfully slow. other times something happens and it is hard for your mind to catch up. so 4 months ago I looked like I was about 8 months pregnant. serious belly weight. wish I had a good picture to compare, but you can understand why I do not! yikes. this weird picture shows today. 120 days later. Still a good long ways to go, but it blows my mind how much things have changed.

HOW DO YOU SUCCEED WITH HEALTHY EATING WHEN YOU'RE MEXICAN

Can I proactively prevent hair loss PRIOR to surgery?
not everyone looses hair. So far, at almost 4 months I have not. I eat eggs. almost every day. full of good for your hair nutrients. I take my Vitamins. I am loosing at a reasonable and steady pace - it isn't just me not being prone to it as I went through a very traumatic stress several years ago and lost a LOT of hair. I am just not letting this process stress me out (too awfully much) and maybe I will still loose it, dunno. but so far not. I get plenty of Protein and fluids. I get exercise every day (circulation) I use hair care products that help prevent breakage, have since the above mentioned time when I did loose a lot of hair. I have very thin, baby fine hair, so I am prepared to buy a wig if mine falls out.

Post Your Silly Rant
it's the white goat hair chin sprouts that bother me so much. there will be nothing one day, I've plucked clean and the next day there will be 3 10 inch long chin hairs. WTH? like my body has nothing better to do?

What to expect two weeks post op?
I was tired, I was eating soft foods. so as long as you plan your food and drinks, and feel like visiting casually (no horseshoe throwing, ok?) you should be fine.

Stalemate after 1.5 yrs after VSG and life now ...
I would recommend starting with some EASY yoga. not the push it hard poses. think Peggy Cappy Yoga for the rest of us, because if you try to do something strenuous you will not be able to maintain. or when I first started walking after a long hiatus I would tell myself "you only have to do 5 minutes" or if walking is an issue get a can of something and do 6 reps arm exercises while seated. sometimes, if your bloodwork is good to ok, it just takes getting started to want to do more later on. Do what you can and build from there.

Post op pain
honestly, it's kind of foggy now. I am guessing about a week- or 10 days? I had a nerve block in my abdomen so my pain was never really bad, and I did not have a hernia repair or anything else.

VSG June 10th, looking for advice and buddies!
Congrats! I look forward to seeing your progress! I would say: 1. be prepared for surprises. maybe what you think will be hard won't be (That was true for me) and maybe something you didn't think would be a big deal will be. this is quite an adventure. 2. be patient with yourself especially in that first month as you heal. That is your only job at the beginning. the weight loss will come - first the healing. 3. sip, walk, sip, walk

Rough Weekend
bah. older people tend to say whatever comes to mind. I am sorry he said that out loud, and I pray you don't give it the power to hurt you beyond the initial scrape of hearing it. my husband's grandfather (God rest his soul) used to tell me NEARLY EVER TIME I SAW HIM that I was a beautiful woman, but I'd be gorgeous if I lost weight. my typical reply was how lucky for me that his grandson thought I was gorgeous no matter my weight and I didn't really care for the general opinion of society, and that I was only trying to loose weight to have more years with him.

Full Stomach
it took a while for the sensation to return to my stomach fully. I don't know how to describe it. I don't really eat to feel full, I just eat to not feel hungry and meet my goals- hungry is just sort of an empty feeling for me now. On work days my daily goals of food is pretty much preportioned as it has to go with me in the morning - and I just eat that measured food during the day when it is convenient or I feel the need. a couple of times I accidentally ate till I was full. one bite over the line and it feels like your worst after Thanksgiving meal fullness, which was somewhat hilarious to me given the small amount I had eaten.

Wendy's chilli ?
I made chili before surgery and froze it in small portions- it sure does hit the spot! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

7 weeks Post-op FULL OF REGRETS
this is certainly not normal. if it isn't better on the medicine they gave you then you should call the doctors office and let them know.

How long does the pain last?
plans vary like crazy, don't they @@moniquea ? even within a plan the orders vary depending on each patient's needs if the program is very good. where I had surgery it was Clear liquids in the hospital and then full liquids the two weeks, then soft foods till a month then all foods if you're healed. no puree stage at all.

Body fat percentage question
I think that would be good as a stretch goal. mine will be slightly higher as I have have a health concern where they want me to be a little on the more side, but still healthy. that's why its so important to tailor your goals to your own needs.
-
Body fat percentage question
anything is possible - there are some here who are runners, or into weight lifting that I think have gotten their body fat pretty low. but I don't know what the average is. I think it's a better indicator than BMI, though, and I encourage you to think about where you want to end up at based on your own health profile and concerns.

Body fat percentage question
do you mean on average, or what is possible?
