Singing after gastric sleeve?
I do not sing professionally - but I do sing a LOT and play the flute. I haven't done any choral singing since the surgery, but I expect I would not have any problems at this point, and plan to do some Christmas choir of some sort either community or if my Church has a Christmas Choir. I have noticed no difference in my range or quality of my voice once I got past the initial post op period. use your spirometer and it will give you a good indication of when you are back to your normal.

Stomach Stretching
Congratulations on being so close to your goal. Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App How long have you been on your journey? Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App I had surgery 4 months ago. I went to the seminar about a year and a half ago and had to wait on a medical issue before I could have surgery. When do you begin to feel stable or yourself again? Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App physically I felt pretty good right away. I am normally a pretty upbeat person - but at week 3 I was very angry all the time, and then I had some mild depression for a few weeks. so, I'd say its about 6 weeks before you begin to find your own new normal. I didn't have any complications,What brought about the anger? Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App just hormone dump/ there were no other changes in my life. no reason at all for it. so, when I felt angry I reminded myself not to react without discussing the situation with one of two people I trusted to help me make good decisions.

Water and Medications
Hi there! I take a lot of supplements for just general good health, along with my muliti and Calcium that are required now. the picture is what I take regularly. minus my BP pill which I take first thing in the am, and is not in my pill case. some I had to go off for the surgery it's self but I was able to take all of them by 1 week post op. I didn't have any trouble with them post sleeve. The salmon oil I take for my ADD, and my family reports much chaos if I stop but I know these are not as serious as your meds, but I worked with my team to discuss why I take each, when I could go off them pre surgery, what I didn't need to go off, and also the plan for me to resume each medication. The only concern would be the volume of fluids you have to take - and I think you're just going to find you are drinking all the time. This week I had to do a gallon in half a day for a colonoscopy prep. I did not make it through the whole gallon and I stayed up ALL night drinking. I was pushing fluids in constantly. thankfully I got enough in to get cleaned out. So, I think it would be important to your team to have a close eye on your fluids, and a back up plan for if you fall behind. you may possibly need IV hydration from time to time? but I know that if they can work with you having the sleeve could be a very big positive in your life!

Work-a-holic!
I was off about 10 days and then I worked 6 hour days for the rest of the first month. (got cleared to return at one week check up, but then it was the weekend. that allowed me to go back to work but still manage learning to eat and drink and walk - plus take the occasional nap

PPI's forever?
my doctor prefers that people with the sleeve at least try coming off them at one month. at 4 months I find I still need mine about twice a week, but I do not take them every day. hoping to come off them in time.

Stomach Stretching
1. don't believe everything you read on the internet 2. I have never even tried to eat what I ate before. I keep my portions small and I am satisfied. so, if you don't try you won't need to worry over it.

Surgery Date Set and I'm excited and terrified.
those feelings are completely normal! but you know what? I did not feel like a failure when I had a hysterectomy to deal with those issues in my body and I am not going to feel like a failure to have my stomach changed to deal with obesity.

I am sad today. Disappointing realization.
it is hard to come up against these setbacks. I hope you can use the time to prepare for your new life.

Prayers!

what to tell the surgeon?
well, the pain in your body is going to be considered as a medical issue, and the snoring might be also. However, I think for most insurance companies your BMI should get you approved even without them. Let us know what you learn at the consult! at my consult we sat down with the insurance referral person and they told us what our requirements would be.

Does everyone but me have a nutritionist?
don't worry. I do have one, and I do talk to her about any deviations from my program, but she just reads back protocol to me. she's not very helpful. my doctor or NP are the ones who give me custom advice to my personal plan and make sure that my progress is where it should be.

Ways to celebrate weight loss?
I bought a fabulous new purse when I dropped below 200 pounds.

Grieve loss of stomach
I think your feelings are normal. especially pre surgery. once you get through the first month and there are so many positives, I think you'll be all about your new stomach.

Question about Post Op ADHD meds
I take 3 salmon oil a day to treat bad ADHD. I would recommend speaking to your doctor - but if you do a trial off the prescription maybe take the fish oil to see if it could help you with the ADHD. I don't suffer from my ADHD, but my family does, lol. my life is much more manageable when I treat it.

A little sunshine through all the clouds
hey that's a nice NSV! you're doing really well.

1200 calorie pre-op diet
that may be all they require from you except the night before surgery. I did not have a two week liquid diet before surgery. are you getting excited as the date gets closer?

Starting to wear my old clothing again.
it's a wonderful feeling to fit into those clothes that were relegated to the back of the closet!

Belly pain
did they give you a binder to wear when you were in the hospital? I wonder if it would help to wear that for a while.

Will WLS work if the problem isn't overeating?
I promise we are trying to help you sort it all out. If I were in your shoes I'd go for it and give it all I have to try to be successful. perhaps getting weight off might help your issues, as we know that fat is hormonaly active in the body. with thyroid issues your progress may well be hindered, but what else can you do? right? I figure I will loose what I can, and keep it off as long as I can, there is always the chance that I will loose all the excess and keep it off - but if it buys me even 10 more years to watch grandchildren grow then it will be worth it all.

Options for my smoker?
I eat bacon and cream cheese- and I think as far as things like the brown sugar (we do a ham glaze that uses it) I think you have to consider how much sugar is actually going to amount to per serving. because your servings will be quite small - so I doubt it's much of an issue really.

Will WLS work if the problem isn't overeating?
yes, @@LipstickLady I have experienced that same horror at realizing *just* how much food I really need compared to what I was eating before surgery. quite an eye opener. but I am not sure I would have believed it when I was pre-op even if I could go back and tell myself the truth.

Will WLS work if the problem isn't overeating?
I think you'll find that once you get to dense Proteins and some veg or fruit that there just isn't room or appetite for chips, Pasta and pizza. at least in the early days. I'm only 4 months out so I can't say beyond that.
