Hi...is anyone scheduled to have the gastric balloon soon? Mine is scheduled in a few weeks and I'd love to compare notes with someone!

I've had the balloon in for just over 3weeks and I'm down about 18 pounds. The hardest part so far has been finding ways to cope with boredom, stress, etc. because with the balloon in, it has become very apparent when I am actually hungry or just want to eat something. I've been having some increased acid reflux, has anyone taken additional antacids, besides the prescribed one? Like tums, Rolaids, etc. any recommendations?

OMG I feel the same way! My husband knows. My supervisor knows because I'll need a lil time off from work. My cousin knows because she had a very successful gastric bypass several years ago and she offers great advice. I haven't shared with any friends or other family (not even my mom) because of judgements, etc. I have NO time for negativity! I have my excellent support in my hubby and that's all that matters. I told my family and close friends, but I don't think I would even do that again. Everyone seems to have an opinion and most of them are negative. I would stick to a need to know basis only if I were to do it again.

I've got my surgery coming up and this is one of the main worries I have, too!
My plan is to try and find some other thing that satisfies that "thing", that addiction / feeling that you "need" something to cure boredom, the blues, etc. I haven't figured it out yet, but maybe exercise or reading a book or getting a pedicure or buying a nice new outfit? I'm curious what people who've gone through the surgery have to share on this, too!

Is there a link for the round 3 challenge? I'm having trouble finding it.

@@VSGAnn2014 I am into my fourth week. Had my balloon inserted on the 1st Feb and was only sick the first two days. I am eating fairly normally ... side plates are my limit for size. But stick to the rules I was given and don't eat fresh spaghetti or lettuce as they stick to the balloon. I eat every two hours which is usually Breakfast of one weetabix Water until mid morning when I will have a yoghurt water until lunch which is usually either Soup or jacket potato with tuna mayo (no potato skin as it doesn't digest well) more water until around 3 when I will have fruit or another yoghurt but maybe even a chocolate bikkie for a treat then tea will be anything I cook such as chicken, fishcakes, etc. I treated myself on Wed foe the first time with a fish shop fishcake but instead of chips had mushy peas. Was beautiful. First week lost 11lbs as I was on fluids, second week 4lbs, third week 1lb and this week 3lbs. I am happy and would try and encourage anyone to have one. ????

Hi, I also had balloon around 18months ago.. Had it in for 6 months. Severe nausea for 3 days then it was great. I lost only 12kg all up.. (All in the first 3months). Then I rapidly put on 7kg when balloon came out.. I was hungry like I'd never been in my whole life. I got the sleeve in October and it has been by far the best decision I've made. Be very careful when that balloon comes out!

No, but FYI, i had a gastric balloon in 2012 and apart from a couple of days slight nausea no problems. Attended dietician for 12 months. First 6 months lost 26kg, second six mo ths with second balloon lost 14kg. That is about 40kg which is, omgosh translating to pounds, if you look in the margin it is the amount i am now tryi g to lose with a gastric sleeve. I found losi g weight with the balloon easy but i stuck with the diet, basically, no alcohol, no breads and very little sugar. I wish i could have kept that balloon for ever but i did keep the weight off for two years but then some trauma and here i am again. But i wish you luck, it certainly works, but maintenance without the balloon is difficult. We are all different and your eati g habits might be very different from mine. Good luck.
