    Yogurt recommendations please

I like the Dannon Light and Fit Greek yogurts! Also, cottage cheese is really good with mashed peaches and a little sugar free peach syrup! I'm not a big cottage cheese girl but, I am able to eat it that way and benefit from it's high protein. If you get premade protein shakes, I found blending them with Ice made them easier to digest the first few weeks! But the Dannon Greek L&F yogurts are yummy! No big chunks of fruit and great flavors and low sugars for a yogurt!

  4. Hi everyone or anyone, Ha Ha I'm Kat and I had my surgery 23 days ago. I'm starting to feel better now. Still can't lie flat, having a hard time getting in fluids but doing well with Protein because of the shakes. I am really not crazy about drinking a meal but food just doesn't sit right yet. I was just curious to learn more about anyone else's experiences. If you respond, then maybe I can check out your page as well and read there too! I want to be a success story one day and just want to see how you all are doing it! Thanks in advance!

    Examples of Soft Foods

James... I bought all the ingredients to make your recipes! Thanks for sharing! I cannot wait to try them. I guess everyone's rules for post op diet is different. I started soft mushy foods 3 weeks out and on March 4, 4 weeks out I start regular. Those were my instructions But, I love Soup and chili and will be perfectly happy with those! Anyways, I loved reading your story and you are very helpful, so Thanks!
  8. Thanks Learningtolive ! Before I had surgery I was on a Miralax and Prlosec regimen because I had a bowel blockage 2 years ago and also have Gerd with non dysplasia Barrett's Esaphagus. I would get acid reflux even just drinking Water before surgery. Glad to report... not a bit since. Nice to meet you! Have a great day!

    Examples of Soft Foods

All Soups, fresh or canned(no sugar added) fruits w/o skin, Beans with melted cheese, mashed potatoes, eggs all kinds, lean ground meats in gravies or sauces(low sugar), applesauce, yogurt, sugar free pudding or Jello etc. I'm sure there is a bunch more too that I haven't tried. I'm new too. I tried to have some meatloaf with a little gravy on it but I think I'll stick with slow cooker things like soups and chili and greek yogurts are my food choices mostly other than drinking 2 premier Protein shakes as well. They sit better with me. It's a lot better to be able to chew my food. I was tired of drinking my food all day. Happy Chewing!
  10. I ate a hard boiled egg yesterday(mashed up) and I'm thinking no eggs for a while! I chewed and chewed but it just sat there and was very uncomfortable. Didn't last more than a 1/2 hour but, I will try eggs later! Ha, Ha! Maybe I didn't chew good enough! That is something I need to work at more. I'm 3 week out as well.

    Surgery in 3 hours!

I hope both of you are doing good! I had mine 3 weeks ago and I'm starting to be able to do more and more every day. I had a couple issues. Constipation probably from the pain meds and a blood clot scare. I try to walk often and take Miralax daily! Gas X strips helped with gas pains if you need that! Anyways, I'm new too and would love to share experiences etc. Praying for fast recoveries for all! Kat
  12. Thank you! It's good to know what I'm experiencing is not out of the norm really! As soon as I saw your Swan ticker I had to go back and use that! I collect swans and that is adorable. Congrats on your success. I cannot wait to be there! I have been taking Miralax in tea daily and haven't had any issues since. Knock on wood. I never want to go through that again. I am going to get ingredients for some of Jame's recipes from his link above. They sound amazing. I enjoy Soups most right now. Thanks again for the encouragement! I appreciate it! Have a great day! Kat
  13. Thank you so much James! I'm starting to feel better. It is kind of frustrating to me that I am still so sore 3 weeks out and most people are back to their normal routines minus heavy lifting after 2 weeks. So about 6 months huh? Geeze! I am fortunate to have 6 weeks off before I go back to work. I am a school bus driver and CDL requirements are that we can lift 50 lbs. and my surgeon said nothing over 15 for 6 weeks. So, I'll just go with the flow! I tried the pillow between my legs but for some reason when I try to lie down semi flat it makes my stomach cramp (left side) and it's just not comfortable. It is getting better though! I will most deffinitely check out your link. Only you responded to me so I called my nutritionist and she said, " It will get easier and it's a learning process. Just take small sips often throughout the day and you will find it becoming a habit". She stressed how important it is to get fluids and Protein in even if you are not hungry. I knew all that, I just need to focus harder. I was blessed with being able to do this surgery and I just don't want to mess it up. Thanks for responding! Have a great day! Kat
  14. Hi everyone, I had surgery on Feb. 2nd. I weighed 243 at my highest. I'm 5'3. My BMI was 43%. I was 235 on surgery day and 242 again after surgery! That was discouraging but expected with the Gas and swelling I guess. I am 220 now and feel I'm doing pretty good with that but, I'm having a very hard time getting my fluids in and wanting to eat. I think I'm about 40 ounces a day and that is only because I have 2 premier Protein shakes and really only eat Soup. I do pretty good on my protein. I am still very sore left side and center upper abdomen. I did have a very bad constipation incidence last week. It was horrific. No more pain killers for me after 5 hours in the bathroom. My surgeon told me to do an enema, 4 laxatives and Miralax in Water. But it took 5 hours. It was so painful. I'm thinking that is why I'm so sore. I'm just wondering if anyone else had to sleep in a recliner 3 weeks out. I miss my bed so bad. I live 3 hours away from all my follow up apts. which are once a month, next one being on the 14th of March. Until then, I would love any advice any of you could give me. Thanks so much, Kat
