    Dumping syndrome over time

My question??? Why are you eating anything that would cause you to dump? Perhaps I'm a bit naive here ( okay, I'm not, but trying to not be judgmental)but if you ONLY had surgery 6 months ago, I don't get eating desserts and such. You're still in weight loss phase- the "honeymoon" stage, if you will. This seems more like self-sabotage to me... but that's just MY OPINION and well, you know. To each, their own... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App If you read what I wrote you will know that I'm in the maintenance phase already. I have lost 100% of my excess weight and there is a risk I might lose more. So I am now put on a high calorie diet and it was actually my doctors advise to try and consume more sugar because a) sugar is the best way to stop weight loss and b ) I have been suffering from low blood sugar so I need to keep eating all the time and need to consume a bit of sugar. So far I am managing to stabilize my weight for the past 5 weeks. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App No. Nowhere in that post does is say you are in maintenance...or that you've lost 100% of your weight, it says you're 6 months post op and you've experienced a change in your dumping syndrome... Which leads me to think -if you notice a change at 6 months out---you were eating dumping-causing foods even during WL PHASE... And, quite frankly I don't know of any docs who will tell you to eat shakes or iced cream to keep your blood sugar up. There are plenty of things, like oh, Glucerna, that will do that, as well as other slow- releasing foods that don't cause dumping... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. I just booked a trip tonight to the South of France in July for my daughter and I...her birthdays present, my present to me for hitting goal. We both win on this one, and I finally get to travel to France with someone who actually speaks the language! Most important is the mom-daughter time before she leaves for college the next year.

    I've one thing to say...

Thank you all so much... I've had unbelievable support here and attribute a good portion of my success to that. It is amazing when I consider that it is about exactly one year since my first appointment. One year. So many changes have happened, mostly good, some not so much, a thing or two kind of, well, sucky lol The most IMPORTANT thing I can say is this::: Value YOURSELF. Don't allow anyone else to cloud your perspective, judgement, or thoughts. Find your new YOU and embrace that person. Don't compromise your values, don't let go of your dreams and don't let anyone stand in your way or slow your progress or cause you to doubt yourself, your worth, or worthiness. People can be wonderful, and supportive, but there are also people who can be downright cruddy and not worthy of your time and/or thoughts. Just know that you are doing this for YOU--- and anyone who enhances your life that can enjoy your success with you. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  8. So, today is exactly 8 months since I had my RNY bypass. Sweet that it comes the day before Thanksgiving, I'd say, since this year, more than any before, I've so much to be grateful for in my life. I began my WL journey 12.5 months ago with my first appointment to my surgeon. I was fortunate that I was able to quickly progress through the required steps and have my surgery quickly. My HW was in the 280's...my surgical day weight was 272. Blessed with a body that responded well and the determination to make the most of the surgery, I sit, today, squarely at 145. That is 138 pounds from my highest weight--- in 8 Short months. An ENTIRE person....melted away. So... This leaves me 5 pounds from my goal and reevaluating a new goal. I lived my entire life-minus the last 10 years- firmly at 128. Is it possible???? I think so! Pregnancies, illnesses, age, certainly play a role in how we carry weight, but with the past year behind me, I now think ANYTHING is possible. As I set in to the kitchen to begin to prepare the feast that is expected tomorrow for my 30 some guests, I do so with vigor and vitality. And I will come to the task ahead thinking of all the people in my life who have lifted me up, shown me the way, cheered me on and loved me---all the while helping me find the ME who was buried beneath illness and sadness, never imagining a life worth living fully again. There are people here, who have become friends and important in my life. To each of you-- I say Thank You. You know who you are...your friendship, wisdom, guidance and camaraderie broke through like beacons. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    8 months...

Thank you so much. I try, (I'm not so sure about the 25 --I'd hope to at least keep the wisdom I've accumulated to date...) and find determination from those in my life who care about me. t's been a pleasure being on this forum. So many, like you, @@Dub up there, and others continue to inspire, motivate and keep me real. I've so many tasks, no, adventures!!-- I would like to fulfill. Today I went golfing with my two boys. It's been ages. Mind you- it was 39 and windy, but fun nonetheless. Wish my daughter could have joined, but she chose studying for finals. Go figure! I was sporting a new set of clubs that treated me right. I'm interviewing for jobs now in my industry that I could not have fathomed a year ago. What's exciting is that each will have me traveling and working to inspire, motivate and educate 100's of others. And I continue to make plans to move to North Carolina...hopefully in the next year. I have been and will continue to ready my home for sale this Spring. I'm looking forward to the holidays coming up, visiting friends in NC in January, and mapping my future --the one I never dared imagine over the last 10 years. 14. Wondering if anyone has been advised on this- Should you refrain from drinking anything 30 minutes AFTER your Protein replacement, just like when you eat "food" ( purée, mushy, solids)? Interested in hearing responses. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

TT & BL on November 21!

Wow. What a journey. Wondering? Is two weeks off a normal time frame? I'll be starting a new job soon that will have me traveling constantly- airplanes, cars and the like. Wishing I could do this before it, but not looking possible. And if I do the two procedures separately, I'm having a hard time deciding which I'd have first. Doc said I would be up and running again (literally) with a good bra within a few weeks. I've had two vertical C-sections in the past, and recovered easily from those. Decisions... But would love your insight! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. There are products like Protein2O that are high-quality, whey isolate clear drinks. The flavor far outweighs the Isopure clear drink. By miles. And you can add that as one of your liquids for the day..instead of Water. I hate eating. Truly I do. It's not a eating disorder kind of hate, more it's bothersome to stop and eat. I'm never hungry. Ever. So when I do eat, it is Oikos triple zero, cottage cheese, and the like. I always toss in a scoop of unflavored powder to give me an extra 20-ish grams of Protein. Also- Fairlife milk. Someone here turned me on to it- 15 g of protein in one cup. I'll toss in a scoop of unflavored or vanilla powder and I'm up to 35-40g-ish in one small cup. Thanksgiving..

Don't push it. If you're on liquids still, there's a reason. If you can purée the heck out of something and want to drink it, go for it. Use chicken broth as the base, add a little turkey and cheers to you Seriously. Don't mess with your food progression. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Before and After Pics

Today-- trying on a pair of size 6 pants...down from 24's exactly 8 months post op today. Here is the funny thing... I knew I'd fit into a 6- and the only pair that they had was on a mannequin. Asked the sales clerk to take them off so I could try them on. She looked at me and tried to talk me out of it- saying they run very small. I repeated to her that I wanted to try them on and she obliged but kept repeating that they wouldn't fit, they run small. Boom. (I should add that I WAS wearing baggy clothes when I walked in...but STILL!!!) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
