I am the same way. I talked with my husband and asked him "What should I say, if people ask questions?" Loved his response, tell them you have made some life changes. You have decided to take care of yourself. If they ask more just say you'd rather not discuss it. It has worked out so far. Good luck

That is an awful and very unprofessional thing for your doctor to say. Time for a new doctor, they work for you. Everything was about my weight too. Now I have lost 30+ lbs and I do feel less aches and pains but the mental stuff is hard to deal with. This surgery is not "a gift from god." It is a gift to you from you.

What are you eating that you are bored with?
When I was on soft foods I ate a lot of cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, refried Beans, tuna, grilled salmon, as well as a lot of the liquids and foods from my previous stages which you may think is boring.

Hi there! Congratulations on taking steps to get healthy.
I am 16 months post op RNY. I am down 140lbs with 5 left to go to get to my ideal weight.
Prior to surgery I was a mess and chose to do it to get healthy never believing I would really get to a point where I was a normal weight vs. obese or even overweight. Well, I am a normal weight now with a BMI that went from over 44 to 24.5!
I had type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, severe Gerd, sleep apnea, anemia and stage 3 kidney disease. All of these diseases are in remission! Most of them with the first 3 months.
I have had no complications and I don't get sick unless I overeat. When I overeat I get very nauseous and on 3 occasions have vomited. You learn what to do and what not to do very quickly.
For me, this surgery was a breeze. Off pain medication with a couple days of being discharged.
I have gone from a size 26 to a size 10! This really was not the reason I had this surgery but let me tell you as soon as I started feeling better, getting to a normal BMI became my ultimate goal.
I have never ever regretted making this choice, not for 1 second. I used to live to eat and now I eat to live. food just is not as important to me. What I do eat is. I do not waste what little space I have on crap food like I used to.
RNY gastric bypass is the absolute best thing I have ever done for me.
I wish you the very best with your upcoming surgery! Feel free to reach out if you have more questions. I would be happy to help.

I did move anything for two weeks. Doctor ordered me to drink a full bottle of magnesium citrate. It worked! Drink on an empty stomach then drink a lot of water! Its been a week after still no movement again. I was told to take miralax every 3days in 4oz unsweetened apple juice. I just figure I was slow before, I'm going to be even slower now.

Erossi reacted to Elode in NSV + "oh my goodness" moment!
Hello All! Ok so today I spent all day at my daughters Winter guard competitions. I posted a picture on FB talking about how I was the "glam mom" for the team (hair & makeup). After posting this picture my inbox BLEW up! I guess a lot of people haven't seen me since I've lost the weight. I don't normally post full body pictures. I got called "tiny" and "amazing". TINY! I had to go back and look at the picture again. It's like I'm just now seeing my new self for the first time. I'm starting to see what everyone else sees. It's the weirdest feeling! I don't think I'm "tiny"' but compared to the 267 lbs I was last year I see what they are saying. I also noticed I need a butt! Lol that's the "oh my goodness" moment. Where did it go?! My tush literally hurt sitting in the bleachers all day. I kept having to switch from cheek to cheek. I started getting paranoid thinking people are going to think I have hemorrhoids the way I keep moving but no! It's the bones in my butt that don't have that fat cushioning! So I had a NSV and a painful realization all in one! Now what do I tell these people. One I was honest with because she's a rather big girl and I didn't want to feed her some lie and get her hopes up. The others I said thank you and avoided the question. I don't mind telling overweight people but I don't like telling my skinny friends. I'm not sure why that is but I just don't feel the need to elaborate with them. Anyway just thought I'd share. Share yours if you have one! I posted the picture below , not the greatest but a 6 year old took it sooooo... The other is my super proud guard mom picture living on coffee and sour rainbow straws. Can't be good all the time!

Very true, Erossi. What a person says or thinks about someone is more a reflection of themselves than of the person they are targeting - always important to remember that.

No shame in being the chubby girl going to GNC. When I was starting the pre-op I bought Isopures from there. I didn't think they were terrible at all. And I believe it's 40g in the drink, and remember the Protein fluids count as your daily Fluid goal!

My husband noticed that I wasn't figitting anymore. I feel just that small thing is a big thing to me. Also my size 22 pants have gone down to 18's..very happy!

Sorry I haven't responded until now but I have been so busy that I haven't been on the site. Here's the chicken crust pizza recipe for all those who wanted it:
    PIZZA CRUST – (Chicken)

    Ingredients
One pound ground (raw) chicken breast ¼ cup grated Parmesan ¼ cup Reduced fat 4 cheese Italian shredded cheese – ¼ cup shredded cheese is 1 oz. by weight ½ teaspoon garlic powder ½ tsp salt ¼ tsp black or cayenne pepper (I used cayenne) Tools
Mixing bowl (stand mixer - easiest combining method) Baking sheet, pizza pan or pizza stone (crispiest crust) Parchment paper Wax paper Rolling pin Pam or any vegetable non-stick cooking spray Instructions
Preheat oven to 450°F. In a medium bowl combine all of the above ingredients. Place a wet paper towel on a flat surface then place your parchment paper on it. Spray it with Pam and then put your chicken mixture on top. Mixture makes 1 large or I like to make 6 – 3 oz. portions, so 6 individual crusts. Lightly spray a sheet of wax paper with non-stick cooking spray (makes for easy removal). Place wax paper, sprayed side down and evenly press using a rolling pin to get it as thin as you’d like. Remove the wax paper and place parchment paper on pan bake until golden brown, 12 to 15 minutes (depending on thickness). Put the crust between two paper towels and pat to absorb any grease. It is chicken after all. Then place it on a new sheet of parchment before topping it. Top baked crust with sauce, cheese and you favorite healthy toppings. Place back in oven on baking sheet or preheated pizza stone and cook until melted and bubbly 5 to 6 minutes. Remove from oven and enjoy! If you bake it on a pizza stone it will get crispier.

I had my surgery 16 months ago. I am down 140lbs and am entering the maintenance phase.
I am now a normal BMI of 24.5
I have had no complications and hope that trend continues. I did this to get healthy. I have type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, severe Gerd, anemia, sleep apnea and stage 3 kidney disease.
    All are in remission.
I do have severe osteo arthritis of the spine and psoriatic arthritis which are both worse at the moment but I am working through it.

Protein and Water are your primary goals. Protein effects every part of the body and can slow your healing/recovery.
There are several options out there for lactose free whey protein. Isopure makes a good product. GNC also sells a lactose free whey called About Time.
