  1. Hi everyone If all goes well, my surgery is the morning of February 24th. Even before my Surgeon had me start an 8 day preop diet, I had been dieting & have lost 20 lbs now. And then I got my darn monthly cycle & it stalled my weight loss and even made me gain a few pounds back, so kinda bummed. Hoping they take a look at that and the fact between my last Drs. appointment and the preop appointment at the hospital I dropped 8 lbs in a week. Start my 2 day liquid diet tomorrow, maybe that will help. I'm both excited and nervous now. Already set up my room for after & packed my things. Still afraid it might be cancelled last minute though, so fingers crossed.

Just missed the BMI of 40

I'm with you, try an other opinion, and get tested for other co-morbidities, especially sleep apnea. Keep pushing, my insurance has denied me 4-5 times regardless of me jumping through every hoop they held up, and kept deeming it "not medically necessary." What turned the corner was both my persistence and the team at my surgeon's office. Ask for appeal, ask for a supervisor, and ask them to be clear about exactly what their insurance requires for approval. It's frustrating, but I know you can do it. We are our best advocates

    February 2016 sleevers?

Don't give up. Been fighting for mine since the Fall of 2012. Got to my pre op appointment and some new resident who doesnt know me or my medical history ordered a bunch of unnecessary tests (before even seeing or reviewing the tests I just completed at that same hospital as ordered by my surgeon) my insurance wont cover and I cant afford and the kicker is they want it done before my surgery on the 24th! My surgeons office is fighting it, said they were a new crew causing issues for their bari patients. The under 800 cal pre op diet has me weak and completely out of it too, almost fell on the way out of the appointment. But trying to stay strong and keep pushing forward, whether I get my surgery next week or later. After all I have endured, like heck I'm not going to keep fighting

    February 2016 sleevers?

Hang in there. I got denied & ran into the excuse "Not medically necessary" & other hurdles countless times. Part of the reason I jumped on an earlier surgery date was because I was afraid of the same thing. Best of luck for the resubmit

    February 2016 sleevers?

My appointment got moved up nearly a month. My Dr's office called today and asked to switch to an earlier date because of a cancellation, and I nearly fell off my chair. It's crazy after so many years of pushing for this, to know its finally going to happen. My surgery is on Feb 24. I'm thrilled, but trying to get everything together in time.
  6. Couple years post divorce. Totally believe in love. Tried many mainstream and "specialty" online dating services. But everyone I met seemed like they either wanted to get married right away, or was just looking to mess around. What happened to getting to know someone, and dating one person at a time? Just put dating on the back burner while I work on my health & other goals. Kind of convinced it's not possible to meet someone during this WLS journey until it & other goals have been met. Especially in my area, small kind of cut off community where it seems there are no single guys around my age that can get past the weight, let alone during or after WLS. Then what about the loose skin, and once elective surgery is done, the scars from that? At what age, weight, and location does who we are, and what we are about start mattering more than the shape we are in? Grew up in the country, and miss men that know who to fix things, enjoy being outside, and don't blink at changing a tire or holding a door. So apart from a sympathetic cowboy, or a fellow bari buddy, what's a woman to do? Planning on moving out of state in a few years...maybe then
  7. Super excited for March :)

Hi Everyone Newbie here. Been pushing for WLS for over 2 years and just got my surgery date yesterday! March 14th! I am so excited. Been overweight my whole life, and I'm so looking forward to positive change. Especially since my health problems have steadily been stacking up over the last few years.
