Dealing with toddler post opp
Thanks for the replies. I got a date scheduled and went to my last appointment with him yesterday where we had to watch videos and discuss the actual proceedure. Even though Ive been talking about it for a couple months, he didnt seem to quiet understand til now. He just said hed take the 2 days off after ai get out of hospital for some help, I was amazed. We already discussed putting her in daycare for half days for the first week or two and having his parents help me a little. Not sure how much help they will be though, Im usually waiting on them. But we shall see...started preop clear liquid diet today. Wish I could fast forward 2 months Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

Medicaid?
I have medicaid in NV. I went to my primary dr about it in december, she told me what dr in my area covered it through my insurance and we went from there. All programs will require a preop dr supervised diet and lots of testing prior. Originally amerigroup (my insurance ) required 2 yrs, then changed it to 6mo when I signed on, then just changed it to 3mo. I have a tentative surgery date of May 5 and started my liquid diet today, just waiting on final approval for the surgery from insurance. Hoping they say yes soon because this clear liquid diet is HARD Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

Poached egg week 1 post opp?
Programs are quite different. Im supposed to do a week of clear liquid, then 2 weeks clear plus milk, pudding, yogurt. Then 2 to 4 weeks pureed only... so that puts me at like 2 months out Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

Insurance requires failing. What?
The issues with others being denied was that originally it was a 6 mo diet, then they changed it to 3. So people who were at 3 or more, they sent papers for. Then insurancr denied because there wasnt 6 mo. They are confused lol. So, my Dr assumed I would get denied too since Im on month 4 Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

Insurance requires failing. What?
Thanks everyone for tge input and positve thoughts. It seems things are getting cleared up. Insurance company is mixing policys for their national and Nevada branches. Dr is still having me sign releases and start 10 day liquid tomorrow. Worst case scenario is I lose extra weight on liquid diet and get denied, best case scenario surgery in less than 2 weeks Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

Insurance requires failing. What?
So I started the proscess like everyone else, needing dr supervised diet, tests, psych evails, blah blah blah. I got it all done and dr has supposedly submitted it (insurance says they dont have paperwork, dr says faxed it twice) but I wanted a full explanation as to what's required because dr is worried Ill get denied for reasons his other patients are being denied. I spent an hour on phone with insurance. They said that you have to be on dr supervised diet and fail to lose anything, showing surgery is required. My dr said i needed to lose 5 to 10 percent of my weight, so I been working hard and lost 23 lb. Im so confused and upset. I think they are trying to just add loopholes to not do surgeries. Dont lose weight...not serious about it...lose weight...can lose weight on own, no surgery needed. I want to cry Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

Sugar substitute recommendations?
I always used splenda until I started seeing the nutricianist for my surgery. They say ONLY stevia allowed as its the only natural sweetner. Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

My 15 month old wants to lay on mommy :-(
I am getting surgery in 3 weeks and have a 2 year old that still wants me to pick her up all the time. Im worried about her more than any part of the surgery. Shes small, only 22lbs but I think the limit is 15 Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

Any soft food ideas?
Can the greek yogurt be flavored by yoplait or it has to be straight plain? Sent from my KFTT using the BariatricPal App My nutricianist suggests plain with stevia and cinnamon or flavored extracts [like banana, hazelnut] but I do greek light n fit vanilla from danon and the triple zero Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

So now that I'm maintaining a healthy size, I have an issue.
Im worried about this. Still preop but every time Im at a clothes store I look around and feel like OMG what am I going to do when my selections go into the non far girl section? Im used to the tiny section of mostly old lady clothes that I have to choose from. The misses/juniors sections ARE SOOO MUCH BIGGER lol Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

Venting - So Mad!

Praying it just wasnt noted on my account correctly and they actually have it Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

Venting - So Mad!
Just need to vent a little. I finished all of my dr appointments, nutrition classes, tests, psych, etc in a super small time the last few weeks because my dr said if I kicked it into high gear I could get the surgery in May. I already did my 3 mo supervised diet. I can't take work off at all from June 1 til July 15 because that's the crazy busy time of the year. Didn't think I'd get everything done so was planning on July. But when they said hurry, I did. I finished up and they were getting my papers ready for insurance last Wednesday. They said I should expect an answer in about a week and set up my final appointment with them to sign releases and get all the info to start my pre op liquid diet for Wednesday with a tentative surgery date of the 7th. That would give me 3 weeks off before I have to be back to work (I have a physical job with lots of stretching). Just called insurance co to see what kind of time frame they think and they said they had NOTHING from my Dr office. What the.... My biggest concern is that if I can't get this done now, I'll probably have to redo the stress tests, blood test, preggo test, etc in July since they will be old : (

Frustrated and don't want to go up the crazy tree of doubt!
I think 15lbs is good at this point, especially since you weren't super heavy to start. I think a lot of people see what others are losing and get discouraged. But, someone who starts at 350 is going to lose more quickly than someone at 230. Plus everyone is different Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

Amerigroup
Anyone have them? Paperwork was submitted last Wednesday, dr office said we should know in a week but that sounds too good to be true seeing that its medicaid. Im on a timeline because of work, june is our busiest time of year so cant get off. So worried. If no answer next week I'll have to wait til the end of July Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

The "Training Sleeve" Thread ~ Training Wheels for Your Sleeve
Ive been slowly cutting down on portions, cutting out my beloved diet coke, cutting out coffee and upping Water for the last month. I start my 10 day preop liquid in Wednesday. Ive lost 23lbs so far. No way Id be good mentally going cold turkey on everything. I did have a "bucket list" food that I needed one last time. Got a good pizza last night and had 4 slices after being good on 1000 calories for the last few weeks. I made myself chew chew chew forever, partially for practice and partially to savour my most favorite food in the world that I cant have again, atleast not for months. I think you have to start changing habits before hand so its less of a shock mentally Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

How long did you take off work? Non desk job
Just curious how long you took off work if you had a somewhat physical job? Im a poker dealer which requires tons of stretching and my stomache is up against the table all the time, bumping. My dr says only 2 weeks, Im thinking 3 or atleast I was until reading around this site, now Im thinking 2 months lol. Plus I have a 2 yr old to work with Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

Dealing with toddler post opp
I live 3000 miles away from my family and have no friends here. My in laws are coming for a few weeks but tgat was planned prior to knowing Id be getting surgery. So Im sure they will help some but not much. Didnt even think about lifting her til you mentioned. Atleast shes way smaller than most her age (22lb) Oh boy!

Dealing with toddler post opp
My surgery should be in about 3 weeks (will have exact date in a couple days) and if course Im worried about alot but what Im most worried about is my just turned 2 year old. How did those of you with really little ones handle the time immediately post op? Im worried about her crawling on me and stuff and how Im sleep deprived now and I know you are real tired post op. My husband is not supportive of my decision to get this surgery and isnt very helpful with my daughter unless Im at work so Im scared... feel like I should ask for extended hospital stay Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

Getting ready
My preop diet is 10 days. I'm shocked that some doctors dont require any, they need your liver to shrink for safety. I think even if surgeon said I didnt need to, Id do liquid for a few days prior Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

For those who did preop liquid diet...weight loss?
Thank you all for your responses. I knew it would vary but was just curious to hear what people lost at the begining. Getting so excited and worried now that its only a couple weeks away!
