Will I ever stop loving to eat?
I'm four months out....and my feelings/attitude about food has started to change. I still enjoy it, but it is starting to lose it's importance. I have found that I feel so good that all of the negativity I was medicating with food is fading away......I don't NEED it emotionally as much as I did just four months ago. I'm happy this is happening for me.......

Hello Fabulous Fourties!!!
It's amazing to me to be in my late 40's and feel better than I did in my late 30's! Congrats to all of you getting ready to jump on the band wagon!

I've been going through the hairloss thing as well. Fortunately I have pretty thick hair to start with, so I don't think anyone really notices but me......it won't last forever and it will come back.....that's what I keep telling myself!

shingles
you have my sympathies.....if the doc didn't put you on Acyclovir...ask for it NOW...the sooner you start on it, the better it works. My hubby had a horrific case of shingles.......it lasted about six weeks and two years later, he still has some residual numbness in spots. It's ugly.......sending you good vibes for a mild case and quick recovery!

I think it's the same......the bottom line is keeping track so you know exactly what your intake/output is.....I've been lax about journaling lately....need to get back on the ball!

My bad experience was 100% my own fault.....don't let that frighten you! I learned so much from this.....eat slowly, chew properly, don't eat on the run! I agree, don't be afraid to fully utilize your band!!

WTG....one pound closer, Fenton..... I try not to base my attitude on the scales, but it sure does make for a great way to start the day when the scales have a different number.....well, as long as it's smaller! I was down a pound today, too! It's been sixteen weeks since my surgery....... I've lost 38 pounds, so an average of 2.375 pounds a week..... I could not be more pleased.

Mmmmmmmmmmm.....it's those Flintstones Gummis that really put a cap on the day! At Jamba, I like the 16 oz "berry Fulfilling" or the "strawberry Nirvana"..... both around 160 calories, 1 gm fat, and 5 gms Protein (and then ask for the soy protein boost for another 8 gms of protein).....of course, lots of Vitamin C and decent amount of Calcium....

As for the dried fruit.......yep, up until TODAY, it's been okay. I have always kept a bag of the trail mix stuff from Sam's Club with the dried mangoes, pineapple, dates, all that stuff.....I usually sit down with a 1/4 cup and just pick at it for a half hour or so.....I think the hurried nature of my eating contributed to the problem......I was never so glad to see something come back up......but yeah, I'm done with it, that was just nasty. Had a small jamba juice w/protein for dinner........that felt good! BTW, if you have a jamba near you.....the low cal ones are really good and they'll add a soy Protein boost for free!

I guess I'm officially a bandster now......just had my first PB experience.....it was horrific and I feel like shit right now. I came home from work and grabbed a handful of dried fruit....eating mindlessly and not paying attention to chewing..... first....PAIN....OMG...the flaming golf ball I've heard about....then the slime.....lovely, a rabid dog......then rejecting the poorly chewed food......UGH.......I'm just so glad I was home. I'm still hoarking in up.....such a delicate flower. Paying a pennance now.....liquids for a day. OUCH.....throwing away the rest of the dried fruit.....no more for me.

That is sooooooooooo true.....the other day my boss mentioned it and he stumbled all over himself apologizing because he says he didn't want me to think he thought I looked bad before....it was funny, I felt sorry for the guy..... I finally just stopped him and said...."Thank you, I've been working very hard at it, it's nice that you noticed...." Weight is such a touchy subject I think some people are leary of saying something until it is just completely obvious......

Summertime Recipes to get in Protein
I made chicken kabobs tonight...... Cut chicken breast in to cubes....put it on skewers alternating with veggies....green peppers, mushroom, zucchini....put the skewers in a flat cake pan and marinated with italian dressing (with some added garlic, of course) overnight....... Popped them on the grill for dinner and they were delicious!

Almost 4 weeks post op and shoulder pain is back
I am almost four months post op, I still have shoulder pain now and again. It was the most acute for about six weeks after surgery..... Generally, after an adjustment I still get shoulder pain for a day or two....if I eat too fast or too much, I get shoulder pain. It's sort of a stop point/reminder for me.

Pre-op beer drinking
I had my last beer two weeks before surgery. I did have a one week liquid diet before surgery. Now that it's hot, I miss a cold beer.......but I am loving the way I look and feel, so it's sooooooo totally worth it!

WTG Fenton....you are closing in on that 100 pound mark so quickly! I am pleased with the restriction that I have right now.....I feel a lot different than I did before this adjustment. I fixed dinner for the family last night and just wasn't hungry at all. I had a couple of slices of turkey just to get some Protein in....few pieces of melon....and felt content the rest of the night. It's nice. scale has been moving a bit, too.....gotta love that! I did have to break down and buy some pants. I'd shopped through all of the smaller sizes in the closet. Fortunately Dillard's is having 30% off clearance prices and I was able to get two pairs of levis (SIZE 14!!!!!!) for $13 a pair.....that was a nice feeling. I haven't been in a size 14 for a long, long, long, long time!!

Unjury - Opinions?
I like the chocolate unjury a lot. I've used the unflavored in pudding and it's not bad. The strawberry is too sweet for me....

Went in for my third adjustment today. My regular doctor was off sick, so I saw her partner. Wasn't happy about the fill without the lidocaine.....it hurt. He said it's over so fast there's no need for the lidocaine.....UH....YES THERE IS. He's right thought, it is over quickly. I can already feel a difference. I stopped and bought a bottle of Propel on the way home.....usually no problem getting one down in fifteen minutes or so......45 minutes later, I still had about 1/4 of the bottle. The substitute doc was very encouraging and positive about my weightloss so far....I was down 7 from my last appointment. Going to a big BBQ for the 4th, but not worried about it. It's the same crew we went to Yellowstone with and they're pretty good about encouraging me to stay the course! Wishing everyone a slim and colorful 4th of July! I do love fireworks!
