Normalcy is overrated......

Very negative comment from fill doctor.
Obviously he's never stopped by here.....there are lots of 100 pound losers.....what a douche.....great bedside (portside) manner....

Well, I guess my second adjustment is providing some restriction. Sat down to some baby carrots and hummus last night.....holy moly, I guess I didn't chew one up enough because it hurt like CRAZY.....didn't come up, but sure felt the prickly golf ball feeling in my chest....had to get up and stretch and walk around to get it to go away......lesson learned..... Hope everyone has a nice holiday weekend! No big plans here.....but four days off with nothing to do sounds glorious to me!

Are fills painful?
I had my second adjustment on Wednesday....the first one, I felt a two second sting from the lidocaine....the one on Wednesday, I felt nothing, no pain at all and it was over in less than a minute. My experience with fills has been extremely uneventful!

Yes, I'd love to hear about your restaurant adventure! What a GREAT idea! When I was at the doctor last week she was talking about a bike tour they are thinking about doing with patients.....that sounded kind of cool, too. I've decided my body is beyond weird......just bitching about the two pound gain and today I'm down three....I'm sure it's from the liquid diet after the fill....but it felt good. I am getting so close to being under 200.....haven't been there for a long time! Maybe next week? Have four days off from work.....whatever shall I do with myself? It would be wonderful if it wasn't RAINING......but hey, at least it's not snow.....

Rep Power
Aw gee.....the one time I was finally on my way to a GOOD reputation! JK....it was superfluous at best....

Metamucil, anyone?
I've been drinking these.....10g of fiber in each packet and it just tastes like pink lemonade.... Kellogg's

Oh Diva...sorry to hear about the accident....I would certainly give the doc a call...about that and how you're feeling. Maybe you're a little too tight? Hope you're not sore from the crash today....sending you good thoughts.

Thanks....AGAIN....for the pep talk, Fenton! I know my problem is the exercise component......I've enlisted the help of my best girlfriend and we're going to start hitting it. My daughter it out of school on Friday and we'll be able to do things together. She wants to start....gasp....RUNNING.....so she'll be a great motivator for me as well. I'm feeling better tonight.....it's a marathon, not a sprint....so I'm in for the long haul....I WILL be that band success story.

Went in for my second adjustment today....2cc's in the 10cc band now....will see if I feel a difference. The first fill didn't do much. I was up 2 pounds......BLECH. I know I need to ratchet up the exercise.......that's the plan now! I had a dream last night and I woke up crying....all I can remember is saying, "I'm so tired of being fat..." It made me sad...... I know I'm headed in the right direction, so it's a matter of staying on course.....sigh.

Straws and carbonation - forbidden or not forbidden?
My opinion is that my doctor said no straws, no carbonation. I trusted my doctor with my life, so I will trust my doctor with the restrictions on my diet. I knew it going in..... My doc also said no liquids with meals, so drinking out of a restaurant glass is a moot point. I miss beer, a lot......but I'll survive.

Wow, Christine....dumping syndrome? Yeah, you need to find a new doc! Maybe your surgeon could recommend one a little more convenient. I found my new doctor through my surgeon's office....just asked for a referral in my area. I LOVE my new GP and she's very band friendly. I've got an appointment on Wednesday for an adjustment. After talking to the dietitian last week, we decided a little more is in order. It is so fun when people start to notice.....huge motivator to stay on track! Congrats to you for that!

What is your average weekly loss?
Looking at my fitday graph, it shows an average of 2.4 pounds a week. I'm enjoying that while it lasts, I know it may slow down.

Pre OP Diet help!!!!!
It IS hard, but put it in perspective..... it's ONE or TWO weeks out of your entire life.....it's the beginning of your new life. Make a commitment to start it out right.....talk to yourself everyday....remind yourself how much you DESERVE this new start! What you do NOW can effect the success of your band in the future. ....and for the record...no, I didn't cheat on my pre-op or post-op diet.

If you google calorie calculator, there are a gojillion of them on the internet.....most of them set me a lot higher than I would be comfortable with, though......1600 a day....I'd never lose at that point.

I'm staying on plan today because I hit 30 pounds off..... and it feels so good I want MORE, MORE, MORE!!

To tell or not to tell co-workers??
Everyone at my work knows.....pretty much everyone in my life knows...and it has worked very, very well for me. My co-workers are INCREDIBLY supportive and make me feel great every day. I need all of the support I can get....by telling the people in my life, I increase the amount of support. If it means a few people make snarky remarks....so be it. I knew going in to this that some people have negative attitudes towards WLS.....

It's all part of the clinic...they have two doctors, a dietitian, an exercise physiologist, a bariatric nurse and a shrink....everything is included for the first year, so I can see any of them as many times as I need to....so that's good. The down side is that it's 40 miles away and through hellish construction to get to.....not a huge deal but at the price of gas, I hate to drive it too often!

DOWN THIRTY POUNDS.............actually, down 50 from my highest weight....... Met with the dietician today....I swear, I've been doing this for so long that I could BE the dietician......I kept waiting for that great tidbit of NEW information that will make all of this a breeze.....yeah, that ain't happenin' Same old same old.....she did make me feel better as I've been worried about my carb intake.....but she assured me that as long as the carbs are coming from natural sources.....fruits, veggies and the like.....no worries. I stay pretty much away from refined carbs, so all is well. I did tell her that I don't feel a bit different since my adjustment last week, so I'm scheduled for another one next week..... Amanda.....hang in there....a lot of us are in the same boat. Seems like 90% of what I'm doing now, I'm just gutting out....I don't think I'm really feeling the full benefit of my band yet either. Do wish your doc was a little more open towards adjustments.....mine had no problem with me coming in again....of course, she's very conservative with amounts....1cc at a time in a 10cc band....so it's slow going. I certainly don't want to be too tight, though.....that sounds incredibly unpleasant.

My first NSV! Share yours as they happen!
I had a customer come in the shop today and just first mention that I looked nice today....and then said....GET THIS...."You're TINY....how much weight have you lost?" TINY + ME in the same conversation......AMAZING!

any one in utah want to talk
The 6 month diet is usually an insurance requirement, not something the doctors make you do. I had went on a liquid diet for one week before my surgery....that was doctor required.

Happy Mother's Day......good day here....after twelve freaking days, the scale finally moved a pound! I was so relieved.....never been so happy over ONE POUND! My daughter and I spent the day shopping and gabbing in Park City....lots of fun. Went out to lunch and did pretty well.....had a nice salad with grilled chicken.....it wasn't what I wanted, but it was good. We did have fun shopping though, found some good deals.....picked up a few things....and bought A BELT.....I can't remember the last time I wore a belt! Hope it was a good day for all of you!
