  1. Hi, I am going to go to the lapband support meeting on May 26th Hope you can attend. it's in the lobby of the 6th floor between 5:30 and 7:30 pm. Call for details. Not too sure on the time.

I also had my 6th fill and am down to 159. My nurse/practitioner has asked me to speak to one of the monthly big lap band meetings. I am thrilled and scared, have to write something inspiring and also truthful about my experience, which has been 95% good. I can do without the PB's occasionally LOL. I also have documented with before and after photos. Have to take another one this week. Good luck the program is wonderful.

i miss my food so much

Gee I eat most foods, some are bothersome so I avoid them, I eat some steak, just get a 4 oz. filet which is lean and tender, grill, and cut into very very small bites. Then enjoy eat it slowly savor every bite. I eat macaroni and cheese, I use whole wheat pasta, and low fat chedder and some other low fat cheeses. Just eat small bowl. I make a killer pasta sauce and I eat a cup of pasta with a cup of sauce. and it's wonderful.

    Why You Shouldn't Eat Salad

Yikes, I love salads, and it's one thing I can eat without a problem, yes I choose very dark leafy green, carrots, tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms and some low fat feta cheese, dried cranberries and for a full dinner I have diced small pieces of white meat chicken (4 oz.) I use Walden-Farms no fat/no calorie dressings also. I vary the veggies and greens sometimes and it's filling and healthy sorry I suppose if you eat just iceburg lettuce and a tomato it's not that healthy. I also sometimes use fat free whole wheat croutons on my salads also.

    Anniversary Challenge

Well I hope that by August 7th my one year anniversary I will be very close to goal. By Memorial Day I would like to be in the 150's. Almost there now. I would love to be 140-130 by August 7th. Getting my next fill next week. I was off track for a while and not losing hardly anything, back on track and doing well. Good Luck everyone.

    weight loss & plateaus

Oh I hear ya...been on a plateau for 3 months, same 3 pounds up and down a bit. Now back on track, my 5th fill seemed to kick in last week. I wend from 164 to 160 this week and am happy. I am making sure I eat my 3 small meals. And I do mean small and 2 Snacks so I have something every 4-5 hours. The steady small meal thing seems to work well with me. I do have a 6th fill in May and will go through with it..I need all the restriction I can get. I still hope to be near my goal weight by August 7th. 30 lbs. to go. It's a daily battle and sometimes you get really discouraged with the plateau. But eventually it gives. I find sometimes I eat more for a week...the go back to diet and the plateau goes away, you "fool" your metabolism and the hibernating thing goes away. Good luck all Pati
  7. I have always had a bit of restriction, but I made a conscious effort to lose the weight also with my diet, and exercise, knowing I don't want this to fail at all. After my 5th fill not a lot of restriction till last week then bam it's working like a charm. I can eat but very very small amounts. So I am back on track and losing. My plateau is broken. 5 lbs the past week and a half lost. I am happy

    Confused

Oh Yes, yes, yes, it's worth it. The best thing I have ever done. I have finally hit my sweet spot and great restriction so my plateau is over. Back losing about 3 lbs. a week. I think despite the posts that are negative 99% of the people here would do it again. I know I would in a heartbeat. I do miss eating the things I loved but then I can have one bite and be satisfied now. Good luck and please read all the good things about Lap Band surgery. It's worth it believe me.

    Friday Morning Weigh-in, April 3

I have a fill next week. I am bouncing up and down one or two pounds the past few weeks. Very annoying. I am back to the 164 area. I sure would like to get to 159 by the end of the next week or two. Can't seem to move past the 160s now. I think I'll jump start by having liquids for a couple of days. Hope everyone does better.
  11. Hey you have done great. This week. Well stayed the same, but my clothing is getting loose. My new clothing LOL. I am taking it one day at a time. As for a body lift. Not in my immediate future since it's not covered by insurance it's way too expensive for me to think about. I am just happy to be healthy now. Hope it goes well. I would like to know how the process is anyway, in case I win the lottery and decide to do it LOL. Pati
  12. Thanks it's been both good and bad, mostly good. I still have a problem sometimes with getting things stuck in the band and I have been on a plateau lately, but hey I am still losing a lb a week or so. Most of the weight is now off. Just the last 30 lbs. are the hardest I think.

Just take it one day at a time. And it will happen. But remember you have to really follow all the advise of your team. Good luck

  13. I still like to go out to eat, just order different things now. I am more adventurous LOL I usaully order protein. Steak or chicken grilled. then veggie. Mostly don't order starches. I eat my protein and some veggies and take the rest home. I like to cut the cold steak usually filet into small slices and add to a nice salad the next day for lunch. One good thing about steak houses it's usually al la carte and you can order just what you want. I don't do buffets now at all not worth it.

    Spicy Food!

I also have no problem with spicy food. I do get hearburn occasionally but Gas x helps. I love to load up on garlic and spices and lots of ground black pepper. Invest in a good pepper mill it will be your good friend when you totally stop the salt.

    Still eating pasta , rice

I have been eating very small amounts of past, rice and potato, since about my 2nd. Month after surgery. I love all three and just have a half a cup or less at a time. I always eat my protein first, then veggies and if I have room I eat the starch. I don't use butter and that helps. I also have been eating whole wheat pasta or the enriched kind with good stuff in it. Also brown rice and baked potatoes. If I have a few fries, they are baked in the oven not in oil. Good luck.

    Need some help

So far I have been lucky no hair loss. I was told my my doctor and the nutritionist that hair loss is mainly due to lack of Protein. I make sure I always eat my 60 grams of protein a day. I hope this helps.

Finally off the plateau, my colonoscopy must have helped LOL. A little over two pounds lost. Got into a dress I got 3 years ago. It's a 13 petite. Fits great. LOL I really am reving up the anti the next few weeks I want to be 160 or less by April 1st. Great job everyone.

    I have to ask....

After about 3 months I had a glass of wine. Was fine, no carbonated wines or beer. Had a Bloody Mary on Sunday and was OK no problem. Good luck.

    On maintenance- now this

I get up a few times to pee, it's all that water/liquid I have to drink daily. I sleep better, am off the CPAP now sent it back. Maybe it's your food choices. I can't eat any pork except pork loin and then it has to be moist. I tried country ribs and foamed it all up uggg. How many overnight sleep studies have you had over the years.

    About The Port...?

I can see a slight protrusion of the port and I know it's there when I exercise I can feel it pull, sometimes it is a slight discomfort but not any pain. I am six months from surgery. It doesn't bother me really it's like a badge of honor for me LOL My scars are still healing, and the port is not on your stomach, it's under your breast, (my left one) to the side.

how much dose it lapband cost

Mine was $16,000 but I sent on night in the hospital, it's mandatory for the hospital I went too, Lahen Clinic in Burlington, MA Without my insurance and my co-morbidity(s) I could not have afforded it. The fills are expensive about $500 per fill but my insurance covers it so I pay a $20 co-pay. Good luck
  24. Congratulations I love wearing tight jeans again. Size 12 or 13 depending on the brand.
