That's too bad that they postponed your date. I don't know how everyone did the 2 week liquids. We are the ones that could never stick to a diet to begin with. I'm so thankful that my surgeon didn't require a pre-op liquid diet

It is hard when you see so many people post how quickly they are losing. I had revision surgery 2/4 - no pre-op diet and have only lost 11 pounds. I'm starting to get scared to face the scale and keep thinking I should stay off Bariartic Pal so as not to get frustrated reading about everyone's success but at the same time I need it to see I'm not alone

I agree. We might not all agree with some of the posts but there is no need to get nasty. I've stopped responding to a couple of posts where people really are going at it. We all have issues with food, that's why we had the surgery and we need to be there to support each other, not knock each other down.

Another think I did was made a large batch of Ground Turkey Chili and froze it in small containers. I did the same thing with ground chicken meatballs

Your doing well, dont worry about how much others lose .. My loss was slow in the beginning and i had my doc telling me my loss was slow compared to others however they had been only sleeved.. Not revised to sleeve, so to me he was comparing oranges to apples! From what i have read generally, revised to sleeve patients lose weight slower in the beginning then they catch up, and this is what's happening to me. Just a lil advice take your measurements at least once every couple of weeks, this will show you while weight isnt coming off the scales, that its possibly shifting. Just stay on the path and keep plugging away. It will start to come off
Wishing you every success with your weight loss journey xox

I feel like my band to sleeve revision is giving me a 2nd chance. I had the band in 2008 and did really well the first year to 18 months until I got a fill that was too tight. From there I went downhill, eating slider foods and my bad habits all came back to where I gained almost all my weight back. I'm 4 weeks out and I'm back to the beginning eating healthy and small portions I know that I'm going to have to work hard but I feel like this gave me a second chance

I've been regular since I had my surgery a month ago but I've noticed, when I'm working I have more of a routine for getting my Water in and I stay regular. On my days off, if I'm running around with errands etc.., I'm hardly drinking much water and I don't have to go those days. I'm convinced the water does the trick

LSF reacted to S(he) be(lie)ve(d) in One year ago.....
A year ago today, March 5th, was the date that I began my 6 month medically supervised diet. I thought it was a pain and hated the thought of having to go through 6 months of waiting, and recording everything I ate and did. It was actually a good thing though. I learned so much during that time period about myself, triggers and preparing myself for what was lying ahead of me. It is crazy to think that I have been on this journey for a year and my surgery was just about 6 months ago. I'm down a total of 73 lbs, with only 20-25 lbs left!!! When I look in the mirror, I see ME again. Not the stranger that I didn't recognize anymore. Who was she? I have my confidence and health back again. Really, the list goes on and on. Oh. My. Gosh. I feel so amazing!!!!

Sounds like low blood sugar. You should keep almonds handy to snack on or a Protein Bar. It will help

My taste buds definitely changed following band surgery. Use a lot less salt. And cannot tolerate anything spicy. Now that I have the sleeve, i am still the same.

I'm always hungry also. Not sure if its because I'm cooped up in the house all day because of all the snowstorms we keep getting. Hoping it gets better when I go back to work

LSF got a reaction from Liz W in Post op sleeve compared to post op lap band
My revision was 4 days ago. I had the same surgeon that put in my band. It feels like the same recovery. During surgery they saw that my band had slightly slipped and a hernia had formed which he removed. I was sent home the next day. The pain feels more like a cramping sensation. It hurts getting in & out of bed and off the couch. It also hurts when I cough or sneeze. I'm already getting sick of the liquid diet but its more important that I follow the plan so my sleeve can heal

LSF reacted to CowgirlJane in BAND TO SLEEVE REVISION QUESTION
The way the sleeve works, you may not "feel" things accurately the first 6-8 weeks. Nerves are cut and take time to heal. I was advised to measure, and eat by the clock those early months. For me, my maximum "appetite control" was in the 2-7 month post op range.
I think it is important to note that the sleeve does not rely as much on "restriction" as the band. It is more like you have a normal stomach that is way smaller and has less hunger. It isn't that "tight/pain" kind of feeling many experience with the band.
I counsel anyone to practice the exercise of not "seeking full" but rather seeking "not hungry" once you are past those initial healing weeks

LSF reacted to CowgirlJane in Band to sleeve failure HELP PLEASE
I want to share that this is so important. Most people have less restriction as time goes on. I got sick with the flu/fever and was SO HUNGRY I felt like I could eat endlessly. i felt so sick I was just eating whatever.. cold Cereal, a piece of bread, whatever. anyway, as soon as I went back to eating properly...voila... it was like the sleeve worked again! I am 3 years from my revision so I am simply sharing this experience so you realize you are not alone, this is true of MANY of us.
I mostly want to comment on the final paragraph though. Isn't it just a joy, blessing and pleasure to be able to eat salads, raw veggies, steak etc - you know, normal food - without fear of getting stuck, eyes watering, horrible puking? I LOVE having a smaller, less hungry tummy that seems to function pretty close to the way a normal stomach should work.
For me, the sleeve is what I had hoped the band would be, but just didn't work that way for me. For the first time in decades, I feel normal.
