    Breastfeeding in public:

I get the argument that feeding a baby while covered is uncomfortable for them. But even though I'm a mother, I do get bothered that people breastfeed without care to how much they expose. I just wish they would be mindful of other people's feelings and respectful. I fully believe that breastfeeding in public should be a protected right, but some mothers I see are so shove it in your face it sickens me. It's a bonding moment between you and your child, not between you and WalMart. Don't go to a bathroom to do it, but do be respectful of those around you.

    Getting pregnant with PCOS

I have PCOS. After getting banded I lost 100 pounds and started getting my period back. BAM, we got pregnant. Losing the weight helped regulate my period and helped me conceive. Don't lose hope! Since I was 17 I was always told I'd never conceive. My periods came once a year, if that. So I had little hope. When I found out I was pregnant even my OB said those with PCOS have higher miscarriage rates, etc... it's a battle and a journey. I felt anxious all the time, but I now have a healthy one year old. Just keep chugging alone, besides practicing making a baby isn't that bad of a job, right?

    Hi everyone!

Not sure if anyone remembers me, I haven't posted in FOREVER! I was hoping to get some support. I lost 120 pounds, got pregnant and am now just down a net of 90 pounds. After pregnancy I had to have my gallbadder removed and I had a slip from all the vomiting from the gall badder attacks, so they did a complete unfill. I'm finally filled at a good spot, and am slowly losing, but I'm feeling so discouraged and am having a hard time re-motivating myself. I was so motivated at the beginning and so proud of every pound, but it's almost like now I expect weight loss and when it doesn't happen as fast as before, I get discouraged and seek out the ice cream. Any advice for getting remotivated? BTW, losing the weight is what enabled me to GET pregnant. I have a happy and healthy son now!

    symptoms of pouch dilation?

I didn't have any tenderness. REally I just had a lot of heartburn, then vomiting and things kept getting stuck or taking a long time to go down. Seems like some symptoms I thought was gall bladder was partly my band too. They just did a fluro and saw I was dilated.

    Gallbladder/Stones pain, but no gallbladder.....

Are you on any kind of special diet? I was told I have dilation, but didn't tell me I needed to do anything special and I guess I was a little worried that I wouldn't follow any kind of special rules and it wouldn't heal.

    symptoms of pouch dilation?

I don't know about the prior poster. I went in today and was told I have dilation. They said your pouch should be the size of an egg, but mine is the size of a small tangerine. They unfilled me completely. They said I didn't need to do a liquid diet or anything, just be careful about how much I was eating. I got mine from vomiting due to gall bladder issues.
  8. haven't been on in ages and was thinking about you. hope you are doing well!

  9. I know this isn't "pregnancy related" but I'm hoping some of you can help me. I can't seem to eat enough calories. I started feeling super sick and had a huge headache, which I'm still feeling, that landed me in the ER the other night. Turns out I'm not eating enough. I had the lapband surgery in Feb 2008. I got my band loosened right after getting pregnant and can't get enough in in order to have enough calories to spend on breastfeeding. My husband and I talked about going and getting the band loosened, but it means I wouldn't lose weight. I just don't know, I'm torn. What's healthier for my LO? Being breastfed or not having a 300 pound mama with high blood pressure? I feel like the worst mother in the world. I've been practically crying non stop. It never occured to me I would even consider not breastfeeding. Every time I give LO formula to supplement (as the Dr recommended in the hospital) instead of my pumped milk, I feel as though I'm giving him poison.
  10. Congrats! I have PCOS as well, and losing weight boosted my ferterility. I was always told I wouldn't get pg without medical intervention... I guess getting banded is technically intervention, but not the types the Dr's probably expected. Congratulations! Seeing the BFP was probably the most exciting thing.
  11. I agree, it's definately something to discuss with your Dr. Getting banded was pretty hard, especially during the first year. Being pregnant is also hard. Having the two together so early in the game seems like added stress you may not want? What kind of complications would prevent you from getting pg? Losing weight for me actually increased my fertility.

Add me to the preggo list. .

Congrats on the pregnancy! I was filled to about 12cc's (I have a big band) and at 8 weeks, I had an unfill which took me to about 10 cc's. I can tell my band is getting a little more tight than it used to be, but not to the point that I need another unfill (I'm 27 weeks). The hard part of being pg while banded and doing fills/unfills is that they can't use the flouro, which makes finding the port harder, which for me was a little more painful. I would go to your appt and talk to the Dr. He needs to be aware you're pg anyway, and he can talk to you about all your options.

    7 weeks pregnant

I was around 8 weeks when I got a slight unfill. I was just like you, sick all the time and couldn't get much in. It was actually my husband who made me get the unfill, because I was so scared of gaining weight. I won't lie, every pouns I gain is emotionally painful, but knowing I get tighten that bad boy up at the end, and the weight is all with a good purpose, makes me feel better. I'm not 27 weeks and have gained 23 pounds. More than I wanted, but I'm eating nutrients that help the little one.
  14. Hi MrsFF

I hope all is well. Your fellow VV's miss you; pop in and let us know how you are doing.

  15. Now that my band is looser than before, I'm being much more cautious about the types of food I eat, as well as the quantity. What types of foods does everyone eat? I'm wanting to make sure I get in enough nutrition, but following the food pyramid would mean I'm eating all day! :-) Thoughts?
