    Im home, surgery went well

all the soreness is normal. just work through the pain and stay up and moving. the larger incision is where the port is. it will be sore and pull for awhile but will eventually go away. i remember the inability to turn over in bed, etc. again, it will get better. the more you move, turn, cough, the faster you'll heal. put a pillow over your incisions and press, when you need to cough. you go girl!

    Mad at my scale

I had lost 33 pounds before and after surgery. On 2/16 I had my first fill, 1 cc. I had only lost 2 pounds that day and my Dr. said it was because my band had loosened. Since that fill, I haven't lost a thing. I am walking a mile a day (all that I can do at this point). I feel practically no restriction. I'm trying to hold myself accountable with my food intake, but I know I eat more that 1/2 cup at each meal. I do not snack very often. Will I ever start losing again?:help:

  11. I've read all the suggestions. I'll try some of them. My dietician said I only have 2 more weeks of protein shakes, but I absolutely abhor them.I have the WalMart chocolate and vanilla. I've never mixed anything in with them other than milk. I have left them off for 3 days now. Boost, instant breakfast, etc. have too many carbs. I don't go back to the dietician until 1/27. I know I need the protein. Don't want to buy anything more since I am now so close to being done witrh them, but I can see that there might be occasions in the future where I need them. Is peanut butter about the best to mix with chocolate?

    Protein.. Suggestions needed

I, too had a hard time getting my protein, 3 "meals" and water all in. was banded 12/28. It gradually gets better. Just keep at it. Do breakfast, then after a couple of hours when you can drink, start the protein. Sip it. I alternated with a sip of h20. When the swelling goes down, you'll be able to take more in.

How much can you consume after surgery?

I am banded 8 days post op. At first I was scared to death to drink. Now I find that I can sip consistantly. My protein is now concentrated in 4 oz milk instead of 8 oz. A little ycky, but not too bad. :squareeye Clear liquids are no problem, but cream soups (my meals) I go 4 0z over 30 min. I am struggling to get in all my liquids though, so today, I will sip ALL DAY!

    liquid protien??

my bariatric dietician gave me a liust of protein supplements. They were the exception to the clear liquids. They told me to go ahead and drink them. I have a chocolate flavored powder I mix with 4 oz. milk twice a day. Ea. serving delivers 20 Gm. protein. It is whey based. I got it at Wal Mart Supercenter. Some approved supplements are egg or soy based.

    Why are YOU Fat?

I struggled with fat all my life. wt. on, wt off. :Bunny I ate because I loved to eat. Flavors, textures, smells, chocolate! Moods didn't seem to have a lot to do with it though I have had low grade depression much of my life.:phanvan I'm sure antidepressants didn't help, since they tend to stimulate the appetite. :cry Now that I'm banded, (one week and 1 day), my biggest concern is getting all the liquids in. :paranoid Food or eating is not an issue so far. I'm feeling better day by day. I definitely think I have done the right thing. I am looking forward to exercize. Now that I've lost 25 pounds I think it will be easier.

    Who Wants Some Chips?

I have a question. I of course am waiting on my preop appts. If it is so hard to remain compliant after the surgery, then what is the real advantage? Is it just as hard afterward as it was prior?

Who else here is in research mode?

I chose the lap band, finally, after I found my insurance wouldn't pay for any WLS. I have all my pre op appts set. The surgeon appt is 11/22, and I'm sure the surgery won't be long after. I have up and down days thinking about the life change, but I always end the thoughts with the fact that food is what imprisons me, and messing with my quality of life. The benefits will far outweigh the loss of food. i just wish I could get it done today. The waiting is the hard part!
