  1. I am 15 days post-op and the scale hasn't moved in 3 days. This morning I gave it the finger and told it that I'm breaking up with it until Monday. In the meantime, I'm focusing on trying to ramp up my walking and maybe try and easy hike. You're not alone - hang in there! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Incisions

Mine hurt until about day 7, then itched until about day 14. I'm at day 15 and for the first time, they don't really bother me anymore. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. I've found it so interesting how VSG post-op plans vary from surgeon to surgeon. Obviously, the best option is always to follow the plan that you're prescribed, but I'm curious - at what point could you start eating soft fish (canned tuna, salmon, etc)? And I'm feeling goooood!

@@anewdayforme I am definitely struggling with constipation as well. I've been taking stool softeners and laxatives with only limited success - and I'm convinced that this is a big reason I haven't seen any weight loss in the last 2-3 days! Good luck! And I'm feeling goooood!

@@The New Kel - I too had headaches this week so I think that's normal. I get nausea when I try new foods but haven't thrown up yet - thankfully! I have had no trouble meeting Fluid and Protein goals, so I've added some yogurt, SF pudding, homemade applesauce and had some verrrrry soft, mushy egg salad last night. It's not glamorous but it's nice to use a spoon again! Congrats on your weight loss - thanks fantastic! I lost 10 lbs during pre-op and 11 since surgery, so I'm at 21 lbs total but have been stalled for the last two days. All in all I'm still pretty happy! Best of luck and keep up the good work! And I'm feeling goooood!

Good for you!! My experience was similar - I felt awful through day 10 post-op (low energy, could barely get out of bed) and at day 11 I magically turned the corner and have felt better every day since. I'm only at day 15 and I *almost* feel like my old self (minus 20 pounds)! Glad you're doing so well! Best of luck. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. unjury chicken soup mix may be an option for you... I don't like it much, but many people here seem to. At least it's not so sweet! I also add GENEPRO to unsweetened iced tea because I can't stand the excessive sweetness of all the shakes either! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Last meal

I had my "last meal" (actually, more like 3 or 4 of them) before I started the pre-op diet. As everyone has said, it's not worth risking your surgery! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. I started all chewables at day 5 post-op but have been taking other capsules with no issues. Once I use the chewables I already bought, I'm going to switch back to regular Vitamins. That being said, the sublingual B12 has been great for the days that I just feel like a$$! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. You need a full passport if you fly into Mexico and can get away with the passport card if you are driving. At the San Diego / TJ border, you don't need any documentation to get into Mexico but do need at least a passport card to get back into the US. I was in TJ two weeks ago and had zero trouble coming back into the US in the medical lane! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Surgeons in Mexico

Dr. Illan / BariatricPal are amazing! Even if the cost was equivalent in the US, I would still go back and have surgery with Dr. Illan. The BariatricPal team is with you at every step to help with anything I needed. I can't recommend them highly enough! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. I am 9 days post-op and have been so tempted to chew some real food and spit it out, but I am terrified I'll swallow it by accident and risk rupturing my sleeve. I have heard stories of people licking certain foods to get the flavor - at this point, I'm not above it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Pre-op diet. Can't poop!

I added a benefiber to all of my shakes (at least 3 / day) and it definitely helped. It's definitely been a bigger problem post-op - so figuring out what works now may help you later! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Things I'm looking forward to

SHOPPING! (And enjoying it. And not for jewelry and shoes - because they don't depend on my size.) Working out without pain. Wearing shorts. Feeling like people are seeing ME and not my weight. Not having to rush past all mirrors for the fear of accidentally seeing myself and being horrified. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Irritability

@@Thecloude1 are you still losing weight? Could the irritability be associated with a hormone surge before / during a period of weight or fat loss? I'm only 9 days post-op but have been a raging crazy and slightly emotionally unstable person - hopefully related to hormone fluctuations. Being peri-menopausal and going off meds could also be contributing. Congrats on no longer needing your BP meds, though!! What a huge, positive step for your health! Best of luck! 16. I am 9 days post-op from VSG and definitely struggling with the lack of energy and itchy incisions. It's not at all fun but it is very normal! Two days ago I could barely get out of bed, yesterday was better - we will see what today brings. Are you getting all of your Vitamins in? I'm thinking of upping my B12 in the hopes that it will help with energy. I went back to work on day 6 post-op ... it's not easy but it's doable! Hang in there - I'm sure things will start looking up soon! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Question?

Surgery 9/29 and nothing yet... have been taking stool softeners with no luck. :-( Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Dehydration after surgery

I am 8 days post-Op and was just recommended to try ZipFizz. They sell at on Amazon and at costco. In addition to electrolytes, it also has B12 which should help with energy when calories are low post-op. Otherwise I have been watering down G2 and Vitamin Water zero or drinking unsweetened iced tea. As @@DavidOso said, you will need to consume fluids like it is your job - so find what works to make that happen. Best of luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Feeling Lost...

I completely understand @@LykaCory ... my surgery was 9/29 and yesterday I felt like I'd been hit by a train. I could barely get out of bed, I was crabby, one of my incisions is killing me and I'm sick of not eating and sick of feeling sick. Today was a little better - hopefully tomorrow will be better for you! What is on your diet? I am on full liquids but think that I'm struggling in part because my calories are still so low. Hang in there - tomorrow is a new day!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Day 11 what were u eating ?

I'm day 8 post-op and on full liquids - mostly Protein shakes, broth and sugar free Jello. I did get broccoli cheddar soup from Panera today, added a little milk and blended it in the blender and it was amazing. I could only eat about 1/4 cup (and it made me all sorts of queasy) but it was worth it for the rich flavor! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Favorite Protein Shakes?

I really like the Syntrax nectar shakes... though my favorite is premier Protein chocolate + ice + Water, milk or vanilla Greek yogurt + PB2 in a blender. It's so yummy! You can get Premier Protein on Amazon. You can also add sugar free pudding mix to any shake to mix up the flavor. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. I'm 5 days post-op and feel like I have the worst PMS ever (and it's not my time of the month...). I cried like 3 times today over things that were totally inconsequential and then picked a stupid fight with my husband who has been nothing but supportive and wonderful. Right now I feel bad for anyone who has to be around me. Is this typical? Have others experienced this or am I just going crazy? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Taking pills

I was sleeved on 9/29 and am taking 2 capsules (prescribed by the doctor) 3x/day. My sleeve doesn't particularly like the capsules but I asked the doctor if it was okay to take them and he said it was fine - for what it's worth. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  24. Yes, this seems to be a very normal issue... I had surgery on 9/29 and I have pain and/or major gurgling with about every 3rd sip. Even though it's taboo, I too tried a straw and found it to be okay (no better, but no worse). Glad to hear that this will get better in time! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Metabolism after VSG

@@Kiba - one thing to consider as you experiment with your diet - you mentioned that GENEPRO is your main Protein source. I've done some digging on GenePro and I'm concerned that they may be overstating the amount of protein in their product. If this is true, you may actually be far under your protein goals. It might be worth mixing it up with different protein sources to see if this helps your loss. See here for some more discussion on GenePro: http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/320744-Honest-truth-about-genepro-protein-powder/page__view__findpost__p__4268546 Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
