  1. Congratulations Sugar Bean on hitting the century mark!!!!!! Keep up the good work!!!! I am so happy for you!!!!
  2. I know those palpitations can be very annoying... I am glad to hear that both of you have doctor appt's to have it check out!!!! Hang in there.
  3. Are you back on all of your medication... besides coumadin were you taking a beta blocker or a Calcium channel blocker? I do not have afib but I had to take the shorter acting betablocker crushed for a few weeks and could tell the difference. Is your appointment with a EP specialist ( Specialized in the wiring of the heart?)
  4. I too have a fatty liver, discovered on a CatScan done a couple of years ago. If you actually watched a Lapband surgery they have to lift up the liver to get it out of the way to do the band as it lays on the stomach. Anything to help shrink things up to make that easier is important to do!!!! The pre op weight loss and liquid fast prior to is of the utmost importance!! I followed instructions to the tee and all went well for me!!! Wish you all health and happiness!
  5. Hello fellow Ohioans!! I am from the Toledo area... have you seen anyone from northwest Ohio on here??? It would be nice to form a small group from up here too. Nice to meet you!
  6. It is so hard sometimes!!!! I'm not giving up though!!! I just get into old patterns sometimes and it scares me. I just need to reset myself and forge ahead. I feel better when I avoid carbs and the scale moves so easily when I stick to Protein and veggies. Tomorrow is a new day!!!
  7. Speaking of roasted here's a quick recipe that you can make and I eat it for a few days. Cut into chunks and place on cookie sheet: red onion, yellow and green squash, different color of peppers (yellow, orange, red and green) sliced mushrooms. Drizzle a couple teaspoons of olive oil and toss then season with Lawry's. Bake in oven 20 min at 400 degrees. YUMMMMMMM! This was my answer to shish-ka-bobs!!!
  8. I used slim fast when at work and on the go while on liquids. When I could I used a mix from a weight loss program HMR700. I would just watch the calorie and Protein count closely, the calories can add up quick on the ready-to-use protein stuff sometimes. As far as tolerating it, I didn't have any problems with it. Good luck on your upcoming Lapband!!!!!!
  9. I had internal stitches and then glue on the outer part. They healed well, I too had a little part of a stitch show through but it did dissolve without problem. I had staples with my 2 c-sections, don't sweat it they didn't hurt coming out at all!!! You will do fine!!! :rolleyes2:
  10. I love my veggies too!! I do salads, seedless cucumber slices, those frozen singles by Green Giant of broccoli, green beans etc... For a real treat I go to Subway, get a salad and top it with chicken breast and load up on all of the veggies....YUM!! :rolleyes2:
  11. It depends on what your doctor has as his protocol, for me after a fill, it was Clear liquids for 1 day then full liquid for 2 days then soft 2 days etc... I think you would be able to do cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, maybe blend up some turkey and dilute with gravy. If you are having others for dinner that don't know, put the usual stuff on the plate and eat only what you can, usually everyone is busy chatting they don't pay much attention. Congratulations on your band!!! Good luck!!
  12. Hi, my name is Tess and I am a corb-oholic. OMG!!!!! I am so off of track I can't stand it, I am so disappointed in my behavior. I am not eating like I should and I need to kick my own ass!!!!! I need to get it together and stick to the program!!!!!
  13. Congratulations Mrs Flip Flops!!! I am so happy for you!!! That is fantastic!!!!
  14. I am glad that they numbed your skin for you!!!! That is the least that they could do!!! Hope your port is in position for next time. Take Care!
  15. Did he check the port first with an ultrasound machine? Then once they find it, they clean it off really good, have you lift your legs off of the table so the port pops up! And it should be right there to be accessed. Also my doctor numbs the skin first, and it wasn't bad at all. Hope this helps and it goes better tomorrow!!!! Good luck!!
  16. My doctor gave me nausea meds post op to have on hand if I ever need to take them. I would suggest asking for meds first, then if that doesn't relieve nausea and your vomiting, I would call for an unfill. Stick to liquids only, that way your stomach will stay on the empty side!!!
  17. Over the years, I have gotten rid of things that had gotten too big, but kept a few items for the "Just in case". Unfortunately, I would end up wearing them again and again. Then I would save the smaller sized stuff, for the next diet. Well, now going from a 30/32 down to a 22... I am proud to say, I am running out of stored clothes to shrink into!!!!! Now, I bargain shop for some new clothes. I wear scrubs at work, so there is alot of flexibility in those types of clothes (thank goodness). This time around, I am saving a few "before" items and donating the rest. I don't want to keep anything for the "just in case" reason ever again!!!!!! Honestly, some of the things I kept, are now so dated and out of style... I wouldn't end up wearing them anyway!! I have invested in some very nice active wear that I go to the gym in, and I wear stuff like that on my days off, so I am ready to go to exercise!!!
  18. Way to Go Amanda!!!!! You Rock!!!!!:waytogo::waytogo::cool2::waytogo::w00t:
  19. Hi Karen - congratulations on getting you lapband. I too had the same problems with the evening. I work 12 hour shifts so I would get home, be hungry and want to relax and eat, which unfortunately would be in front of the TV. Bad habit for me... and the weight really piles on that way for me. I now go to the gym in the evening sometimes from 7-8pm, that way I am much tighter after exercising, so I have that physical satiety going for me. I am finding I have more energy in the evening now that I have lost almost 70 pounds, so I am not a victim of the lazy-boy!!!! I get on lapband talk and my hands keep busy that way, and my mind too. I also try not to eat in front of the TV anymore, I eat in the kitchen and am trying to separate the 2 activities from each other. If I do want to snack in the evening I try to pick a good Protein choice so that it doesn't trigger giving into all of the bad carb choices (chips, Cookies, crackers etc...) The main thing is to switch up your evening routine to work with your goals, and before you know it you'll be down several more pounds!!!!!!
  20. Whew!!! Still moving away from 300's!!! Now down to 296!!! Thanks for all the well wishes!!!!
  21. Down 3 pounds... won't make goal, but still losing!!!!!! ******NAME********START WEIGHT*****CURRENT WEIGHT********GOAL********LBS. 22. I just had a pelvic ultrasound last week, I had no problem drinking the water. I have no restriction with water either like Jachut.
  23. Thanks:wink2: for your replies everyone... I have an appt on Tuesday and I am going to ask. Maybe its only 3 covered with the band operation and the rest is a nominal charge. I don't think I want another fill now anyway, things occasionally hang up, haven't PB'ed, but don't want too either. My surgeon insists on seeing me once a month for the first year to follow my progress. I feel it helps keep me honest and accountable...he bills the insurance but its not covered and they tell me no charge when I check out. (I think everyone has an angle sometimes!)
  24. I was told by my nurse specialist with our lapband program that I can only have 3 fills my first year. Has anyone else been told a limit? My doctor is aggressive with fills. Fills it until you're completely restricted and the Water just sits in your throat, the takes pulls out tiny amounts at a time until it just trickles down. I see that some have several fills at set amounts of 1cc at a time or some have larger fills. What do you guys think?
  25. Glad to hear you were checked out really good before your surgery. I am the type to always error on the side of caution... I have been a cardiac nurse for 22 years and fatigue is the number one symptom overlooked by women and their doctors for an indicator of heart disease. Sorry, it just a gut reaction when I hear it. Glad you feel better, I looked on the MayoClinic website, it doesn't look like there have been any official trials done on B12 for energy boosting specifically, just with different types of anemias. If its safe and helps that's great!
