  1. Dr Fass told me that too, here I am 4 months out and I am 76lbs down (~50 since my surgery, and ~ 20 on pre-op diet), He also says that I am completely stubborn so maybe that has something to do with it. I told him, I will loose weight, don't you worry, and I have.
  2. I am embarrassed, embarrassed I ever let my self get to the point where I needed surgery to help me loose weight. Embarrassed at how little self control I had. Now, if they ask, I tell them. If they don't, hey don't ask don't tell. I am not however ashamed of my surgery. Kandi
  3. Sounds like a slipped band, SEE YOUR DOCTOR. You could really be hurting your body by going on this way.
  4. I too started reading this site in January, joined later, and didn't get banded until this past September, I have to say though, It was scary, it wasn't easy, but IT IS WORTH IT, I am already down 42lbs, three pant sizes, two shirt sizes, and a half a shoe size. You go mgirl
  5. Hi Y'all I am In Pflugerville, I was Banded 9-11-08 and I am down 42 lbs. I was also banded by Dr. Fass... I LOVE THAT MAN!!! Anyhoo, just thought I would say hello to y'all.
  6. I have lost 42lbs 30 of them since 9/11 when I was banded
  7. I have gone down two shirt and two pant sizes and I am going to a local lap band support group meeting next month for their clothing exchange, and I actually have clothes that are too big for me that I am going to take now!!!
  8. Okay, I have a question, in my mushies stage, which thankfully I am out of, my nutritionist said to add cheese in things to increase the protein content of food, I have read many of your daily food logs that include cheese, and yet, I have a paper here, that the bariatric coordinator at the hospital gave to me, that says, "Cheese is nothing but glorified fat, stay away from cheese" has anyone else had this mentioned to them, i thought cheese was good... and what about fat free cheese?
  9. I don't feel anything, I don't feel hungry I don't feel full, eating is a chore, its easier just not to do it because I can't feel ANYTHING. Is this normal... most every one I have read about is either hungry or restricted, not nothing.
  10. I had exactly the same thing happen and it was because my blood pressure was spiking. Take your pulse when it happens, if it is higher then 120 beats per minute call your doctor, however mine would go just to 110-120 and I would feel this way, face flushed but the rest of me was relatively cool. I just learned to live with it for a little while the "hot flashes" as I called then lasted about 5 days
  11. Hi, I have only been banded since 9/11 so I don't know about being a mentor, but I can certainly be a friend. I am 22 live in P-ville,Texas. My starting weight was 333 (highest ever in January of this year) my pre surgery weight was 308 and my current is 297. Maybe we can help each other:blush:.
  12. Okay so eight days out from surgery... I AM UNDER 300lbs!!! I lost eleven pounds since the morning of surgery and my doc says I am still retaining some water. It has been FOUR years since I have been under 300 lbs! Just thought I would share! I was so happy at his office today I cried, also he said my incisions look good and i can have my first fill in 3 more weeks WHOOPEE!
  13. I too am a 9/11 bandster...it is a weird day to be banded...
  14. After reading some of these posts I have to say I am lucky to not be hungry,I will force my food down happily from now on. I think yesterday I was just in a crappy mood because I never felt "fat" before the band I had no health problems and I was exercising every day, yesterday, ( 6 days out) I got winded at the grocery store and I was pissed!!! I was mad at the band at the world at myself for having this done!!!! but, I think I am okay now...It will get better.
  15. I did not ever have a bandage other than the steristrips
  16. I haven't actually been banded seven days yet but here's what I have so far Thursday 9/11- starving all morning til my surgery at noon, when I was in the recovery room I was in SO much F***ing pain all I could do was cry and point to my stomach (I also Has a huge tumor removed which actually hurt much worse than my band) Finally got the pain under control and was at home at 7:30 pm, drank some Water tokk some drugs slept, woke up crying becasue my drugs wore off, had to wait another hour to take them, this happened twice Friday 9/12- Felt queasy and semi hungry all day, had some liquids took pain meds at appropriate times, walked a little, not too bad a day all said, i just selpt alot, Horrible burping/stomach rumbling, liquid diarrhea (I know TMI) developed cold/allergy upper respiratory thing cough when I lay down, back hurts alot gas pains Saturday 9/13- Felt great, was off the pain meds, ate more that 1000 calories, walked, did not take a nap probably pushed it too hard, slept through the night Sunday 9/14- Felt like crap, nauseated all day long, cursed myself for getting the damn band Monday 9/15- No pain at all, severe aversion to eating, very very itchy incisions Tuesday 9/16- No pain at all, decided that if eating doesn't make me ill, I will force myself to eat I have been getting all of my fluids in though every day that is SUPER important, I have very mixed feelings about a band I thought I would love, probably just emotional stuff... hope this helps.
  17. Does your port area feel warmer that the rest of your stomach/incisions and if there is any red/inflamed skin around that area I would be worried, otherwise, its just a little leakage, I had a lot the first few says, and I have the liquid suture too.
  18. I asked my doc about the back pain, he said its probably due to the fact that after the band you carry your body differently and sleep differently because it feels weird/painful/etc.
  19. Loose the weight you want and put free weights/ ball barrings and your heaviest clunkiest shoes and clothes on, and also let your doctor know about your situation, maybe they will let you be weighed with your purse!
  20. Hi y'all I was banded on Thursday and I also had a tumor removed at the same time, was in a hella lot of pain yesterday, but I am doing well now. I wish all of you the best I am off to take my first shower.
  21. I named my band Toula because its my "tool" for weight loss.
  22. My doctor said he had one girl who was just like you, did all that she was supposed to and only lost 20 lbs her first year, never felt any restriction, then came back with a vengeance after she finnally hit her sweet spot, and after the second year had lost another 120lbs, so don't be discouraged by the slow weight loss stick with it it will come.!
  23. Okay when I read the title of this post in my head I sang..." I'm getting banded in the morning! Ding dong! The bells are gonna chime. Pull out the stopper! Let's (not) have a Whopper! But get me to the Hospital, god bless me, get me to Hospital on TIME!... any one else...
  24. I decided to quit the brand new job I just got because I HATE it, soI will have as much recovery time as I want
  25. I too am paranoid about my live, but I have been following my diet RELIGIOUSLY and I have not even been eating my allotted amounts of carbs (meager as they are) because of fear of my liver being too big.
