  1. I weighed myself today after surgery. I plan on getting on the scales no more often than every two weeks or so. I might be going nuts otherwise. Haha, I should make a reminder not to hop on the scales! I know it's tempting but this whole "stall thing" is driving my crazy anyway. BTW, I wouldn't consider not losing weight for one week or two a stall. I wonder if there is a definition of what a "stall" exactly is.
  2. @ I had that once. It might be because of the fruit I mixed into it. I tried the same brand with only a few berries thrown in and was fine. At the moment I have problems eating, no appetite at all. The only thing I ate with an appetite today were some skinny Protein bites this evening. I craved something salty. They're solid but puffy and practically melt in the mouth. So far they're sitting quite well down there in my stomach.
  3. I second that. Would be a nice feature to have.
  4. Called the hospital today and they said to up the PPI to 80 mg per day and wait 3-4 days. I'm kind of relieved they didn't tell me "come in immediately". In addition one of our surgeons palpated my stomach and did an ultrasound so we could rule out any really scary stuff for now.
  5. Still having some epigastric discomfort. I also don't have much of an appetite today. But then again I'm a bit anxious because I have to start working again. Hubby wrecked one of our cars yesterday (luckily he is alright!)... might be psychosomatic after all. If the discomfort gets worse I'm going to call the hospital.
  6. Ah ok, thank you. I only use the "new content" button to read so that's why I didn't notice it so far.
  7. I notice a slight pain/discomfort in the epigastric area in the morning (on an empty stomach?). I'm not really sure if it was there from the beginning or if it developed during the last few days. Sounds crazy that I can't tell it but it's the way it is. I'm not sure if it was there from the beginning on. Otherwise I feel fine. I'm obsessing over gastric bile reflux and type c gastritis since yesterday evening. But maybe it's still normal to have some type of discomfort in the epigastric area, who knows? My first follow up appointment is on June 27th.
  8. It's four weeks of no raw food for me. Another week of only cooked food. There seems to be a lot of different opinions on this though. Every hospital seems to manage it a bit differently.
  9. I prefer sticking with the wonderful, bullying, foul mouthed, tyrannical, well informed, humorous bastards who post on this forum. Served me well thus far.
  10. Is there a "mark all forums read" button hidden somewhere? I couldn't find one so far.
  11. Obviously that's a problem. And it's the reason why I left quite a few groups in the past and I have seen quite a few boards going down the drain because more and more people left, no newbies stayed because of the cliquishness. The vets were the only ones staying, no fresh air, always the same old jokes etc. and there were less and less postings, usually about some boring and ridiculous stuff that got nothing to do with being on topic. I've seen big and active boards going down the drain and when I join a board and think "Yes, this seems to be quite a good one" I usually say to myself only seconds later "Ok, lets see how long you will stay here". I also try to find out who the drama llamas and shit stirrers and know-it-alls are and take their posts with a grain of salt and/or ignore them sooner or later. I've never (actually NEVER) seen a board or mailing list or whatever without the same old drama going on sooner or later. However, I have enough drama people in my life to deal with, I don't need this at home and in my leisure time. Yes, I know this "oh-I'm-so-tough" and "I'm-like-a-real-bad-ass" attitudes seem to be really in vogue but if I want to deal with that kind of people, I simply go to work. At least I'm getting paid for it then. I take what I need, give back some of what I know and that's it. Might be a fatalistic attitude but coming to internet boards I can't help that.
  12. I don't know why it happens but I'm sure there are studies on this and maybe one day I'll search for them. Everyone who posts on internet boards long enough. Happens quite often. Gets on my nerves sometimes.
  13. Ok, this thread's obviously done.
  14. In other words: just like any other self-help group, whether online or IRL.
  15. These are evil little things. Evil, I tell you...
  16. That recipe reminds me to do a search on those bodybuilding boards for some food ideas - they have a lot of "lean protein" recipes available.
  17. Me, too. I can imagine.
  18. @KristenLe: @Babbs: @VSGAnn2014: --- Well, I'll be happy dealing out kicks and sarcasm. However, I prefer receiving answers that stick more to the facts and therefore my answer are usually stick to the facts ones. Hey, but if some people want or need sarcasm and kicks (this so called "tough love" that IMHO has nothing to do with sarcasm and kicks but with simply speaking the truth about things)... I'll be happy to help in that special way as well. Just tell me you want or need a little spanking or sarcasm. No problem with that. However, I think I'll need another 1000 or 2000 posts or so to be allowed to do that on here.
  19. AFAIK about 80% of the fundus gets removed when doing gastric sleeve resection. It's not completely removed. Surgeons might use different techniques of course. And there seems to be some contradicting information out there as well regarding stretching the sleeve: http://www.obesitycoverage.com/weight-loss-surgeries/gastric-sleeve/gastric-sleeve-will-my-stomach-stretch
  20. Ignore it and just don't comment instead of derailing the whole thread. That's what I do on boards where I am one of the long term members.
  21. It seems to be pretty common that this type of behavior happens. I've been around boards for a long, looooooong time and regardless of what the board was about: some of the long term users display that kind of behavior. While newbies are scolded because of it (from both members and moderators), the long term users are sometimes even cheered on for the same behavior. I've left quite a few boards because of this reason or visit them only occasionally. Didn't notice it around here so far but in the end I'm still one of the n00bs and maybe I'm not reading the right threads.
  22. I will start running again soon with Couch to 5k. Did the Couch to 10k about two years earlier but had to stop after an accident (bumped the kneecap really hard and had problems with the quadriceps tendon for over four months or so) and somehow never got into it again (did Freeletics and other kinds of HIT instead) but I'm looking forward to start running again now. Still feeling kind of weak though and it's like I got no strength at all. Ok, I'm only 2.5 weeks post-op, so... BTW, I'm 5'6'' as well and I did the C210K at about 220 or 225 lbs.
  23. That reminds me why I plan on skipping certain events during the next week and maybe months. That restaurant/celebration thing bothers me a lot. Luckily we're no restaurant people. We prefer to eat at home so it's no everyday issue.
  24. That's not entirely true. You can stretch both pouch and sleeve. When I was in for surgery another patient was in for revision of the sleeve because it stretched quite a lot over the years and he could easily eat what people would consider a "normal portion" and more. And why should the bypass pouch be able to stretch out more than the sleeve? Doesn't make sense to me. Both pouch and sleeve have relatively small volumina left and both can stretch out again.
  25. The waiting is the worst. I got my band removed in the beginning of February and got MGB on 24th May. I gained app. 2 kg. So no big deal in the end but the waiting time was horrible nevertheless. I'm feeling with you.
