May 24 Surgery Day
Oh, got new scales today (not only tests BF but also muscle mass, curious to try). I wonder if I have to correct the numbers now. Hopefully downwards...

Have you tried Syntrax? Even my husband, who usually makes a face when tasting these Protein drinks liked a spoon full of Syntrax chocolate truffle in his latte. If it's not the taste that's putting you off but the actual fact that you get nausea after drinking them: try drinking less of them or blend it up with some berries and eat it with a spoon. I had a bad experience with Vega One vanilla mixed with some fruit (I think I drank it too fast or it was too sweet). Made me throw up. Interestingly enough the chocolate one was ok.

Even if that's the truth after all: why shouldn't one choose the easier way? I discovered that it's quite easy to shut people up blabbering on about the "easy way": tell them that you'd either have to be a masochist or a dumbhead to choose the rocky road instead of the easier way. Usually shuts them up really quick.

Aw, thank you.

Yes, I know. *sigh* In the hospital they said the same. Everyone's different. Just makes me kind of anxious.

Sleeve to Mini Bypass Revision
I had MGB because of severe volume reflux and a band that was beginning to erode into the stomach. So far the volume reflux seems to be gone. I can start weaning of the PPI in about two weeks. I will see if the heart burn is completely gone in a few weeks.

May 24 Surgery Day
Sometimes I'm kind of scared how much I can eat. When I read that some people who're months out can only eat like "oh, two spoons" or something "the size of a thumb" I wonder if I'm some kind of freak. Or they're kind of exaggerating...

DO AS YOU'RE TOLD BY YOUR SURGICAL TEAM!
This. Seems to me that there is not that much evidence based stuff out there.

HELP: terrible pain after band removal
CT is fine as well. Did you hear anything about the results so far?

The scales are seductive, huh? I know what you're talking about.

That's cool! I had my first salad yesterday evening. Yum!

HELP: terrible pain after band removal
Had the same when my band was removed (especially the phantom band and this pain near the port wound). @@tohealth Did your surgeon do an ultrasound? I'd say this kind of pain is not normal.

Bathroom works surprisingly well here. I feel some slight tummy ache in the mornings. Goes away when I drink or eat something. Will have to ask about this next week.

FDA finally approves AspireAssist
Actually I don't care much about if the responses are negative or not or what people will say who're against WLS in general. I was just a bit surprised about the reactions - they sound a lot like that what people say about WLS in general. I'm not sure what comments I expected. Maybe more curiosity and less jumping to conclusions and outcries of "this is so wrong". A lot of people consider getting most of your stomach removed and/or your inner plumbings rewired "just so wrong". Maybe this is something to remember when thinking about new procedures to help people getting rid of excess weight that we might consider weird/gross/wrong. I wonder if this procedure will be available widely in the near future. BTW, can you go swimming with it? I'm curious.

FDA finally approves AspireAssist
Wow, a lot of quite angry comments about the aspire device... Also some of these quite angry comments remind me of the comments people who are against WLS in general would make. - can continue to make bad food choices - easy way out - no learning effect - there will be evil complications with a 100% likelihood Sounds somewhat familiar.

”Lift Weights to Lose Weight After Bariatric Surgery"
This has been known for a long time. I'm always surprised that weight lifting or strength training is not encouraged way more when it comes to weight loss after surgery.

Does everyone but me have a nutritionist?
I only have the NUTs working at the center I got surgery at. You can write e-mails or call and you can talk to them during follow-up appointments.
-
Why do some folks try to ruin this forum?
Absolutely. I was a moderator on a board once and it's a really fine line to walk.

Prescribed vegan diet
It's interesting that you were prescribed vegan diet post-op. I wish my NUT was that progressive. They support a vegetarian diet but not a vegan one. I ate mostly vegan before surgery and would like to switch back as soon as possible but I'm not sure if I can manage it.

May 24 Surgery Day
I'm not working out so far. I don't have much energy and a full work day is still exhausting me pretty much. My abdominal muscles still tell me to take it a bit slower. Noticed that today when working and had to wear the X-ray protection coat. I guess I will be the desk jockey for the rest of the week. Maybe I will start running again on Monday. Some yoga, but without the abdominal work and the twisting motions.

Sure it was dumping? Maybe it was simply to early to try chicken. Could be.

May 24 Surgery Day
My stomach ache is way better. It's almost gone. This morning I could still clearly notice it, but it was almost gone after having a Protein shake and so far it really seems to be almost gone, so it's way better than yesterday. Upping the PPI seems to work. I also started the Ursofalk (in case it was because of bile reflux) capsules. I wasn't supposed to take them before week four post-op (after the liquid phase) but the surgeon said I could already start taking them three weeks post-op. The morning dose stayed down without any discomfort or problems. Just took the second capsule. The PPI capsules I still open and take the little granules with a spoon.

May 24 Surgery Day
Aw, don't call that a stall! Don't get on the scales every day. That's a surefire way of driving yourself crazy. I won't weigh myself more often than every two weeks or so (so she says and looks at the scales ).

I'm a radiologist.

May 24 Surgery Day
@ I'm feeling weak when not eating enough. I started working again today and felt like having some sort of brain fog the whole day.
