    Nervous

I got my band in 1996 and struggled all these years. I was revised ok April 2016. It's been the best thing I've ever done. I'm about 10 lbs away from my goal. I've had.no issues at all.
  2. No acid reflux. I stayed 2 nights in the hospital but had absolutely no complications. I've lost 70 lbs in 6 months and have 30 more to go. It's the best thing I have ever done for myself.

    No veggies.....?

Check out The Davis Clinic on Facebook. They are all vegetarians, and Dr. Garth Davis has written a book on the benefits of a vegetarian diet. I'm just not ready to give up fish. Lol.

    No veggies.....?

I'm with the Davis Clinic in Houston. They promote veggies first and only require 40 grams of protein per day. I focus on veggies, fruit, and fish. I occasionally eat chicken. I have no had any processed meat, beef, or pork since March.

    Give up on goal weight?

Actually there's been studies done that show a little extra weight is more beneficial as people age.

    Anyone from Houston, TX?

It's the scope on your stomach. I had to do that and blood work which is what Primomo required. Aetna also required a psychological and 3 month supervised diet in which I couldn't gain any weight at all.

    First Week at Home Question

I had revision surgery on Wednesday and cooked for my family on Sunday. I didn't need any help at all. Actually would have preferred to be alone. Lol

What's the every day difference? Band to bypass

There is no comparison. I was banded in 1996 and struggled every day for 20 years. I threw up daily and struggled mostly with healthy foods like fruit, veggies, and meat. I had RNY on 4/6/16. The doctor found that the band had eroded my stomach and adhered to my spleen and liver. 3 months later, I am eating veggies, fish, and fruit. No throwing up and no pain. I've lost over 40 lbs and have 60 more to go. I weigh all of my food but I can tell I'm full because it feels the same way as when you eat a huge plate. So...stuffed. If I'm eating in a restaurant, I don't weigh my food but I know what 4 Oz looks like and I know when I've had enough. I only eat at places I know I can order something that works for me. I suffered for 20 years and I regret every day of that band. The past 3 months have been awesome.

Glad you mentioned that. I've had people flip out when I say I'm only requires 40 grams of protein per day. They promote veggies first and then fish.

Being denied due to weight gain...

I could have stayed the same but could not show a gain. It was stressful.

    Anyone from Houston, TX?

I am doing great! I haven't had any struggles. Fortunately, The Davis Clinic only requires 40 grams of protein per day. Dr. Primomo stresses fruit, veggies, and fish. My menus tonight is sea bass grilled on a cedar plank and fresh sautéed squash. LOL delish

    Anyone from Houston, TX?

I'm in the Houston area. I had surgery with Dr. Primomo from The Davis Clinic in April. Best thing I ever did.
