  1. pretty much, although it seems different doctors and hospitals do different things of the same variation. My doctor wanted an all liquid Protein diet before surgery to help shrink the liver, clear out my system, boost my bodies ability to heal and decrease my chances of bleeding during & after surgery. Some people only had to do this 2 days, or none at all so it really depends. I'm glad I did the 2 weeks, I feel great and it prepared me for the liquid diet after the surgery Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk

    US vs. Mexico?

From my experience, the surgery is a great tool to help modify your eating habits to get the weight loss that you need, but you also need to tackle and change the behaviors that have caused you to purposefully over eat. The surgery may take away cravings, but your brain & who you are at your core remains the same. If u had trouble moderating food before, you'll have trouble again unless you make some mental changes as well. On these sites I've seem people do both, I went through my insurance & the education process and I'm glad I did. It gave me time to deal with myself, do some research and get it in my head that I needed to make adjustments. I didn't want to spend time & energy to get a quick fix just to go back and did what I did before. I wanted to make it a lifestyle change. so I'm not sure there's a perfect way to do it, or where to go...different strokes for different folks. Just whatever you do, make the decision because you want to be healthy and successful mentally and physically! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
  3. Thank you, and no I don't need the pain medicine, thank goodness. This first week has just been so up and down, no regrets but more "did I really just do that ?" I just can't wait to get through the next few weeks and get to some real normalcy again
  4. Surgery is tomorrow morning and I'm trying to figure out how long I will have to be in the hospital the doctor says one to two days but I'd like to really get home to my kids how long were your hospital stays? and did u wish u had stayed longer?
  5. Now that I'm home, I'm sleeping quite a bit.Trying to get adjusted. Never realized how many food commercials come on in one tv sitting!!
  6. I ended up staying 2 days, it felt adequate. The staff was great but I was so eager to get home to my family. The stay was wonderful, I didn't walk as much as some of the other patients, but I probably slept a lot more than them. As a mom,I was loving the sleep and quiet time without worrying abt a fire waking me up
  7. What's the first thing you did or want to do when you lose the weight? I know for me, I haven't worn shorts in a few years, or a bathing suit so I look forward to shopping for cuter clothes!!! Since I gained weight I've hated shopping, it hasn't been fun so I look forward to shopping with my girlfriends again
  8. Ok thank you all, so 1 to 2 days is standard, they just moved my surgery up to 5:45 a.m. tomorrow now Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
  9. When I started this journey I didn't think I'd make it through the 2 week liquid pre op. Now I'm in the home stretch, yet these feel like the hardest 2 days of the entire ordeal. Only clear liquids & no more bars...The only thing keeping me going is the thought that I want to have this surgery bad & without any problems. I have no nervousness about the surgery, all my belly is thinking is I wish that I had some food. Anything... something...sweet...salty..savory it doesn't matter, just feed me!...I'm not going to break but Lord knows I want to. I guess I just need to keep busy and like the tough start this too shall pass....rant over

  15. We are the same day.Good luck to you too Sent from my AQT80 using BariatricPal Ow wow, I've only lost 7 pounds since being on the liquid diet but I wasn't trying, so hopefully they don't tell me tomorrow at my last dr visit that I can't do the surgery. They never told me I had to lose weight but I figured I would on the liquid diet. I'm just so ready to do this surgery and start my new life Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
  16. there can be many cross addictions, shopping, gambling, drinking etc it all depends on the person. Not everyone has this problem

    No alcohol ever?!

Same but I have friends who have had it done and occasionally they enjoy a nice beverage. However they get tipsy much faster and it goes away faster. Once u get healthy I'm sure u won't want to drink much, plus alcohol puts weight on Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk

    Swallow Test and EGD

I did these as well and the EGD was a breeze, but the nervousness of getting put to sleep gave me anxiety. The EGD itself only took 15 minutes Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
  25. Things people who aren't going through this don't understand * the joy of receiving the news that your insurance approved your request for surgery * the relief of passing a Psych exam * the anxiety you feel while you just WAIT..... Then you get your date and your elated You share the news and instead of Congratulations, you get....YOUR CHEATING! Why don't you just do it the old fashioned way? (Sigh) Things people who aren't going through this don't understand .....
