  1. My clinic used the weight from my final appointment with my surgeon to send in to the insurance. That was about 10 weeks before my surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. You look great! I know what you mean - I think I may never wear black again.
  3. I love the idea of "paying myself" for good behaviors! Also, good point about setting goals around actions I can control
  4. I thought it would be helpful to find out what people use to motivate themselves. I'm big on charts myself. I have one I keep with 40 plus milestones which I cross off as I reach them and list the date. The milestones include things like every 5 pounds, each time I lose 10% of my weight, each time I hit a new decade, when I pass into a new weight category (like obese from morbidly obese), quarter of the way there, etc. I really look forward to hitting each new mini goal and crossing it off. I also have some apps I like on my phone (My Diet Coach, Happy scale and Goal Weight). On previous diets I put a bean for each pound in one container and transferred them to the other as I lost weight. What ideas can you give me? I would really appreciate some more ideas.
  5. I had my surgery on the 22nd so am on the same schedule. I am not having any problems drinking - I wouldn't say I gulp but I'm not sure I'm sipping either. I wish I had practiced this more. I have at least 64 oz of Water and 32 oz shake for 108g Protein each day. The nurse tells me I can't stretch my pouch with liquids but I worry about it. I have only lost about four pounds since surgery and feel hungry all the time. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. I'm so sorry for your loss - keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. This has a physical impact on your body as well as an emotional one so treat yourself gently similarly to when you were recovering from surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. I've been curious about pills/vitamins. I was told I would have to use chewable Vitamins for three months after surgery. I was told to keep taking my omeprazole and to start taking a stool softener beginning two days after surgery. Both of these are regular capsule size and I haven't had any problems swallowing them. I don't know why I need chewable vitamins because I think I could easily get them down also. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. I didn't use one but am glad I didn't. I put a pillow in my car and used it once. I really didn't need it either. I'm 10 days post op and have no pain at all anymore. I only needed pain medicine the first few days. It has all been much easier than I was expecting. Maybe I just lucked out? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. What an inspiration and I could so relate to your description of it as "I stepped out on faith"! Thanks for sharing and congratulations! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  16. June 22 is my day. I'm feeling pretty calm now but it kinda doesn't feel real. For anyone who has had the surgery, any advice? Do you think it's necessary to have a support person there while I'm in the hospital or would they just be sitting around watching me sleep? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. My doctor said coffee was okay but I decided to give it up anyway, at least for a while. I figured I would not be able to have it in the hospital and didn't want to have withdrawal headaches while recovering from surgery. Also at the very beginning it sounds like it's difficult to get the liquid in and I didn't want to be dehydrated. I have never liked sugar or cream in my coffee so I imagine I will start drinking it again few months down the line. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. It's nice to hear from people just after surgery. Pretty soon we will all be done (5 more days for me). Sending good wishes to all the June surgery group Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  19. I had foods I thought I might not be able to tolerate after surgery. My "last bite" before starting on my liver shrinking diet was a chocolate turtle from a really good chocolatier. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  22. I'm on day 18 of my preop liver shrinking diet and I feel the same way. I'm using a lot more spices to try and make things taste better, eating outside on my porch to enjoy the view, and getting new flavors of herbal tea which helps a little. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  23. Congrats and good luck on your surgery! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
