  6. I am currently looking at bariatric weightloss surgery to help me lose at least 100 lbs. I am 6' and 290lbs. I am married and have 4 children, 3 boys(all adopted as babies) and 1 daughter(given birth to). I have chrondramalsia patella syndrome in both knees, I have osteoarthritis in my right ankle, I have heel spurs on both feet and plantar fasciitis on my left foot. Doctors and orthopedic surgeons have all told me I need to exercise to lose weight to control the degeneration and pain and inflammation of my issues but can't due to pain. I am also not a happy person anymore, I get irritable at my family very easy and don't want to do things with my kids and i hate looking at myself in the mirror. I also have no energy or ambition to do much, I feel tired and lazy and unmotivated all the time.d don't want to do things with my kids and i hate looking at myself in the mirror. 7. Ah I see, who would have thought not eating would make you gain weight ????
  8. The thing is tho I don't find myself to be a big eater or binge eater. Some days I don't feel hungry at all but make myself eat something. I also don't think I eat lots when I do eat, my husband and sons eat way more then me for sure lol
  9. Hi everyone, I am from Alberta, Canada and I am thinking about getting surgery done in Mexico. Is there anyone on here from Alberta who had inquired and received coverage for their surgery? If so what did you do, who did you go thru and did you have to have the procedure done in Canada in order for it to be covered? All the info you can give would be awesome!

  11. Alberta gal here and I am thinking about going to the OCC. I have had 3 friends go in 2014 to see Dr. Ortiz and they all tell me they would go there again if they had to. I am still in the research stages tho, does anyone know what kind of payment plans there are out there for us Canadians?

    Any Canadians get insurance help?

Oh did they? I thought it said 2012...maybe it was another post...I have been reading so many in the last 2 days lol but I will definitely check into ahc that's for sure
  15. That's good to know 2goldengirl, I was kind of wondering how that would work lol and as I said I have had friends go so I think I may find that topic and check it out
  16. That's a crappy deal grace4liberty but ya I agree do it for yourself! I haven't told my husband yet that I am contemplating getting this done, I know he will say I am fine the way I am and that he loves me the way I am but I'm not happy with the way I am.

    Any Canadians get insurance help?

@chanti...I have read on some posts that there is a bariatric surgeon in red deer but the waiting list is very long and the cost is like double or something like that then Tijuana so and somewhere I read that the procedure in Toronto is like 22,000. :/

    Any Canadians get insurance help?

I read that post and I noticed the date and I think the ahc rules have changed since then but I will be doing some research to see if I can put in some sort of claim to help with the financial dent this procedure will do to my bank account if I do it.
  19. @grace4liberty...I'm not sure who I'm going to tell yet if I get it done, I am thinking and thinking that this will be a good decision cause I have been overweight for 17 years now. Before I met my husband I was 180lbs, 10 months after I met and fell in love with him we adopted our first son at 6months old and I gained 50lbs and my body acted like I gave birth to him. When we adopted our second son at 8 months old a year later I only gained about 10lbs, then my husband and I decided to get married I was at about 240 by then and I managed to lose 30lbs in 3 months to fit my wedding dress, when we adopted our third son at birth, 2 years after getting married, I gain another 50lbs and my body acted like I gave birth to him as well, 5 years later I got pregnant and gave birth to our daughter and had gained a whooping 70lbs with her. After giving birth to her I managed to drop 50lbs and fluctuate between 270 & 290 now and have tried multiple diets(Herbalife and thrive plus others) and even went to the gym and nothing seems to have helped any so far. I have a few friends that have gotten wls done in 2014 and they don't regret it one bit either and if anything those friends would be the only ones I would tell I think cause they said they would help me if I needed anything since they have gone thru everything already
  20. With me living in Canada and thinking of getting the procedure done in Tijuana I can't see me flying multiple times back and forth for appointments :/
  21. Thank you everyone, I will definitely take in all your info and support when I make a decision. I also forgot to mention that I am only 40 years old and got told by my doctor when I was around 30ish that with my knee problems I will be needing knee replacements but because I am still too young I would have to wait till I'm at least 50. I have had 3 surgeries on my right kneecap and 2 on my left and they won't scrap any more.
