  1. Don't feel stupid! I know I had all of these emotions (plus some, I think LOL)! It certainly helps to write down our emotions and "get them out". From what I've read, these feelings are normal and expected! Congrats to us for finally making a stand towards being healthy...it has been a long road to make it this far (started in August, surgery scheduled 3/1), but I keep telling myself the light at the end of the tunnel is in sight. I still have to remind myself that life as I knew it is over, but that life was one that had me at almost 300 lbs. UGH! This new life seems to speak to a different relationship with food - which in my case is a good thing - not the addiction I have lived with for so long. I wish you the very best on your journey - you can do this!!!

    Tomorrow is the BIG DAY!

    Wow! Congrats - that's awesome!
  3. Hi, I started in August 2015 and surgery is slated for 3/1. I also have BC/BS (Federal). Because of my age (52) I had to do some additional things: Endoscopy Colonoscopy (or proof of one within last several years) Cardiac Eval Chest X-Ray Stress Test LOTS of bloodwork sleep Study (or evidence of one within ten years) Pre-Anesthesia testing (EKG, more bloodwork) Psych Eval Six months of nutrition classes (one each month-mandatory) It is quite a bit to go through. I actually found that the most stressful time for me was the almost 3 weeks it took BCBS to approve the surgery....I was going crazy thinking I might have to start all over to go to Mexico (didn't know they had different requirements). So...here I am in the early days of my pre-op diet. Keep thinking about the new me and pressing on! Hang in there, one day (or sometimes minute) at a time.
  4. We also have a closed group for March sleevers at https://www.facebook.com/groups/538633389641335/ It's a great source of support.
  5. I have suffered from anxiety and clinical depression for many years. They are treated with medication. I am also an alcoholic in recovery. I was really worried about the psych evaluation. My psychiatrist was against me having the surgery for whatever reason, so my therapist completed it. He knows me very well and I was worried for nothing.

  8. HI! I have BCBS Federal and it took about two full weeks for them to pre-approve me. The wait was excruciating, LOL!

    Help!

Hey there - By no means am I an expert, but I can tell you that on my two-week pre-op diet, I am allowed to have low/non-fat yogurt up to three times/day. Hang in there and try not to panic!!! :-)

    Alcoholism & WLS

I am an alcoholic in recovery and you are right, there is nothing "mild" about it. I am glad that I have a program behind me to hopefully help me with the adjustments after surgery.

  14. Hi! I wasn't sure where to post this, but since I am pre-surgery (3/1!!! Woo hoo!!!) I decided to try here. I need to contact an Admin for the site. I searched everywhere for a "help" or "contact us" section but was unable to locate one. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
