. I have one hernia now and since I've had a repair already my surgeon suggest that I wait unless when he goes he finds another small one!

I know the feeling. Had all my preop and labs today...all went great...now start liquids on sat. Then surgery on 1st. Excited cause I lost 12 pounds in. Two weeks already....????

I'm having the gastric sleeve done. My surgeon will be checking to see if I have a hernia, if so, he will correct it at that time. I am in the Tampa Bay, Florida area. What area are you in?

My surgery is scheduled for 3/6. My trip for Hawaii is scheduled 4/5. I'm wondering should I postpone my trip? We will only be there for 3 days but I'm concerned with being able to eat correctly and gaining weight.

There's nothing you can do to prevent it. It's a byproduct from the surgery. It's not so bad for everyone.

I enjoy alcohol when I go out on weekends.
I'm 4 months and my surgeon is okay with it.
I used to be a big beer lover. More accurately....i was just BIG....and loved beer. lol.
Now, I drink high grade liqueurs with low calorie mixers. I try to avoid anything carbonated. If I'm mixing something at the house, then I"ll use a really good vodka or tequila mixed with Ocean Spray Diet Cranberry (5 calories per serving) over ice. Smooth and tasty.
Prior to surgery when I'd go out....I didn't do well with nursing a beer....it was normally 6-8 beers with some tequila shooters over the course of an evening. Watching a football game at a sports bar.....more than that.
Now....a couple of those "skinny" liquor drinks and I'm good to go.
I had this surgery to improve my health....and quickly. I'd have agreed to anything.....any terms or conditions in order to do that.
What happened over the course of these 4 months post-op, though, has been much more than simply my health being improved.....but my state of mind as well. I truly enjoy every aspect of life in ways that I'd just forgotten about.
Going out and having fun with others.......or just lone-wolfing it and flirting with a hot bartender or two.....fun stuff that helps in many ways. It's almost therapeutic.
If having a few occasional drinks is fun......then so be it. I didn't have this surgery to live like a monk. I did it to feel better......and feel better, I shall.
Hell.....two weeks ago....one of the gals on the surgeon's staff...who was a tremendous help with me getting throughout my pre & post op.....met me for a couple pitchers of skinny margaritas. We had a blast and were able to laugh about all the crazy stuff related to my case and then with her job. Fun stuff. I seriously doubt she would've bought the second pitcher had she been worried about it hurting me.......thusly, I consider it part of my ongoing care when we do it again.

He sounds like he is insecure with your relationship. he is afraid if you lose all your weight you will get your confidence back and not want to be with him. Thats why he is trying to sabatoge you. girl do this for you and your kids and dont let anyone stop you from getting healthy and happy.

Reading this thread has me so excited!! I have an appt tomorrow with the hematologist because my Iron was low and this could delay my surgery... Praying it dosent!! I have done all my WM apts seen the nutritionist ,psychiatrist and seen my surgeon the pre/post diet class is this week for me also!! All I'm waiting for is the approval from the insurance and the ???????????????? from the hematologist!! Wish me luck!!! Aiming for the end of this month or early February!! ????????

I am really excited. I have done my 6 months weight management seen a nutritionist and the therapist. I am very eager to get a date but scared at the same time. Can you all that have had the surgery give me some tips on preparing myself and what to expect? TIA

Hey everyone! 1st post on BP. I was approved by insurance on Wednesday, I go in to orientation Tuesday then I start my pre-op classes Thursday. ...no surgery date yet, but it'll be late Jan or early February. I'm so excited, nervous and quite frankly, sacred crap less

My sleeve surgery is scheduled for February 3.
I was supposed to have sleeve surgery on October 21 but wound up being diagnosed with kidney cancer in Sept. The cancer was completely removed in October and I got the all clear from the kidney surgeon to proceed with the sleeve surgery.
I go for preadmission testing and a last consult with the bariatric surgeon on Jan 14. At that time ill find out what kind of pre-op diet I need.
I'm glad to have found this group!

There isn't a need to compare to others. I get motivated by reading how well others did. Also, knowing stalls happen has been important so I joined a kick boxing gym ahead of time.
No one in our classes talked numbers so it is a big mysterious area.
Thank you for sharing! I al trying to remember when I got over 200 lbs and I think 1996 was the year.....

My surgery is tomorrow!

I'm a newcomer to the group. I just had my 1st month appointment with my surgeon and I'm super excited! My insurance requires me to have 5 monthly visits before they submit info to them. I was asked not to gain weight during these next months. Just curious as to what will happen if I do gain weight...not talking 20 lbs or anything just a few lbs or so.
