  1. Hi....I just read your post about insurance allowing your revision surgery from band to sleeve, even though your bmi is 29. I am in the same boat. Being a revision excluded you from having to met the original criteria of 35 with comorbidities or 40 without? I have appt May 27 and worried I will be insurance denied. I hope not!

    Surgeons Stats...

Revising a band isn't rare. Stanford (ca) recommend it to me because of my band issues. They made sure to walk my insurance through because my BMI was under 30. It is rare to place bands these days, at least at a hospital like Stanford which has experts in the field who are teaching doctors. My doctor did 3 revisions after mine on 12/15. But they also have a strong belief of taking the band out and allowing 2 months of healing prior to the next surgery.
  3. I had my band placed and I went home the same day. I had my band removed and went home the same day. The sleeve is a different story, two night stay!
  4. I'm 3 weeks and still on full liquids. Week 5 is puréed foods, week 6 is soft foods and week 7 starts the adventures into regular eating! I took a miniature bite of lobster on NYE that I pulverized. But otherwise I am following my diet. I'd be afraid of steak and pork for now. But I'm only judging by my external scars and thinking of what my staple line may look like! ???? I hope you have luck!!
  5. Also premier protein shakes at Costco are the best! 30 grams of protein, 160 calories I think and premade...I've used them for years.
  6. Quest's unflavored protein at gnc isn't bad. It has less side effect flavor than beneprotein does. It also doesn't curdle as easily.

    Fairlife Milk

If you are lactose intolerant use lactose free milk such as lactaid! It tastes the same and is fabulous in shakes and soups.

    2 weeks

I was sleeved 12/15 and I'm still at full liquids too...last night I cheated and made a really runny soft scrambled egg mixed with milk to keep it sorta liquid. It wasn't bad. Today it was gross! So I'm living on premier protein shakes, cream of wheat, soup and Popsicles as well! I have my follow up Thursday and I'm praying he'll advance my diet a week early. I'm having more pain and discomfort on my left side this week than I did last week. They think I may have pulled a muscle doing too much lifting. ???? so they will get me a compression band at the appointment and until then my spanx will come in handy!

Need a post-op diet plan plz

I'm a Stanford patient. They are far more protective of the stomach incisions and not wanting any leaks. After you come home from the hospital you have 4 weeks of high protein full-liquids phase! Then you advance to a week of puréed foods, then week 6 is soft foods phase. After that you are allowed to go to regular eating.
