Any recent Self Payers in Texas out there?
I have no problem telling you what my credit situation is, besides, I've been asking others to let me know! Although I have not gotten my FICO score in a couple of years- I was told by by another surgery loan place that my score is 705- So, not bad, not the best though in my opinion. Care Credit approved me in like 3 minutes flat- I was surprised. I actually started a thread on here right after that on here saying- it was so fast- is it true? Yep. Got my card in about a week- even called them and asked them to raised it from my initial request of $8000 to $9000- no problem. But, my card is still sitting in my wallet- I'm gutless. I guess I can't know exactly what payments I'll have until I take the plunge. but I still ask on here. I dunno- I want to get some other things paid off before hand, I think by my b-day (May) I'll be ready. Hope this helps!

Any recent Self Payers in Texas out there?
Do you mind telling me what your monthly payment is? You can PM me. I know care credit's website used to do their payment calc. based on a interest rate of 11.XX % now it says 13.XX %. I am curious what your payment is.

Any recent Self Payers in Texas out there?
.........I'm starting to feel like a broken record was looking into Dr. Alanis (Houston) called his office asked the woman who answered the phone of they take Care Credit, yes she said. Dr. Alanis is $9800.....Emailed his office with some questions and I get this back- "Unfortunately the facility that we are affiliated with for that price does not accept Care Credit. The facility that does accept Care Credit is our Sugarland Hospital and their price for the band all included is $12,100" Thanks, just wasted my time- So, back to the drawing board- TLC Edge is in Dallas, is $9990. I live around Houston. Will go there if needed but there HAS TO BE someone in this area for around 10G that takes Care Credit? So, asking my fellow self-payers in Texas- what did you pay? I'm hoping someone in the Houston area will reply. Am I missing a Dr.? Why is Houston so much more expensive than Dallas?!?!?! (((((((((((I know I shouldn't be fixating on price, I know Mexico is cheaper, Thanx))))))))))))

Wanted to introduce myself.
Tera ~ Kudos to you! Hope everything goes well, I am a pre-banding so I don't have much for pointers. You've got more guts then me at this point. It's nice to see so may self payers in one thread- hard to find. I do not have ins. so therefore I am looking into self-pay what did you, Tera and the rest of you use for financing? Please keep us posted on how you do!

Unsure and Dissapointed
I am sorry to hear about your situation. Although I am not a single mother I am the only income while my husband in in College. I was also supposed to get medical insurance in May through work but that fell through. I am torn between doing this for me, which is a terribly hard thing to do as a mother anyway, or just not do it b/c who am I to finance 7-9 grand for something like this. I can tell you that I was shocked to learn that I was approved through care credit for $9000- their rates appear to be low around 11%, another finance company wanted something like 18%. If you are still a full-time student maybe pull out one more loan for say, half? save or finance the rest? Being a student you do have a lot of options but I know it's hard to take when you fully know you'll be paying it back for 10 years+. I can also tell you having student loans even while still in college ups your credit score, even if it's still being deferred. You might be surprised on what financing options you may have? Care credit's site says an estimated payment for $9000 is $200 a mo. for 60 months. Thats all I can offer for advise, why I haven't taken the plunge myself, I don't know but, hopefully this is help you. You are not the only one!!

Dr Alanis? Anyone?
Whoa- nobody....well found out he does take Care Credit. (Yea)

Dr Alanis? Anyone?
Hello ~ Looking into Dr. Alanis, not too much on here about him just wanting to get some insight. Does anyone know if he takes Care Credit? Any other suggestions on Doctors in the area that are around the same price ($9800) as Dr. Alanis would be greatly appreciated! Thanx, and have a great day!

Credit Score question- for those who finance
A couple of weeks ago I was approved through Surgery Loans and Care Credit. I haven't applied for Capital One. I asked the Surgery Loans guy what my score was and he told me (to my surprise) it was 707 :wink2:. Surgery Loans wanted to stick me with something like 17% interest, so interest ended there! (ha,ha) So you might want to just try Care Credit before them. Good luck!

I'm paying out of pocket. If I have a complication down the road, will ins cover?
I'm going to be a self payer myself. It's been so long since I've had insurance I cannot tell you for sure. The thought of future complications is something that I am terrified of and one of the reasons (beside finances) that is keeping me on the fence about doing this. From what I gather I highly doubt it, if they don't pay for it in the first place then they won't cover anything after. I'm sorry I don't have an answer but I feel the same as you, someone on here will have some insight.

Financing? Why the extra fee?
So if I'm understanding you alright, the $600 fee your talking about is the 5.9 % from your Dr.? I got approved thru Care Credit too so I am curious on your amounts. Can you PM me a breakdown of what your payments are/will be etc? PLEASE? Besides that, GOOD FOR YOU and Thanks!
-
Financing? Why the extra fee?
I've also heard of Drs. charging an extra "fee" if you are financing the whole surgery amount. I think it was some horrid amount like 10%!! Sure the $9500 special sounds good, until you add on that!! And they say self pay is so much easier, you have to pay it back with interest and you've got to worry about the Dr. locations like a used car dealerships! Give me a 6mo supervised diet and a stack of paperwork ANYDAY!

kinda freaking out here (self-pay issues)
Hi everyone Welcome to my struggle- I just got approved through Care Credit for 98% of the cost of the surgery. I super want this don't get me wrong, but now that I don't have to work for anything anymore I'm freaked out! I make no sense. I'm worrying now over things I wasn't before the what if's what if it goes bad- what if I need to removed- Slippage etc- can I REALLY afford this? Should I just wait, be miserable and see if SOMEDAY I'll get insurance? Is it stupid and compulsive of me to do this without insurance? I've been trolling in the life without the band forum getting all worked up too- Then I call care credit and she told me that they can't tell me what my % rate will be until I go to the "vendor". WTF? So I get this done and I find out my rate is 29.9 %! I'm just a emotional wreck. Is there someone out there that been in or is in this situation? I know a lot of this is my own issues and ultimately I have to make my own decisions but I dunno, had to reach out. SORRY!

Calling all self payers! I've got questions.
You know It's real weird that you posted about TLCEdge. I was just on their website for the first time like a hour ago! Do you know if they charge extra fee if you are financing? Keep me posted on how you do! THANKS!

Calling all self payers! I've got questions.
THAT'S A AWESOME PAYMENT! THAT MAKES ME HAPPY!!! :smile2: how long is that for in years?

Calling all self payers! I've got questions.
I am 99% positive that you don't have the qualification constraints with self-pay that you with insurance. Insurance makes you jump through hoops so they don't have to cover what you pay for. Of course you have to be like, overweight and all but like I said, 99% sure. I am though kinda puzzled about the $5000 for the doctor? That must be his charge for doing your surgery only (?) if it's $5000 total please let me know b/c I'll be on the next plane to wherever you live to get mine! That's cheaper then Mexico!

Ok so I just got approved for Care Credit.
Sasha2013- Thank you for your reply! May I ask, where did you get your band done? I am noticing that the Dallas area it's a little cheaper compared to Houston area. Maybe I am not looking in the right places? If you feel comfortable can you PM me what you paid for etc ?

Ok so I just got approved for Care Credit.
So I have been filling out applications for a couple of places this evening and low and behold I've gotten approved for 8 grand through Care Credit- But I do have to say the acceptance page or whatever you want to call it as quite quick and generic. Is that what everyone gets? Am I just going to wake up tomorrow and get a Sorry, we have denied you email? Anyone with this experience? Thanks!

Calling all self payers! I've got questions.
Thank you all for your replies ~ I have to admit that I am shocked at the difference in payments from person to person. I guess all I have to do now is start applying myself for some of these places. :cool2: In the meantime- MORE REPLIES PLEASE!

Calling all self payers! I've got questions.
I have not posted anything in here in awhile. Was thinking I was going to get Insurance through work. But, that didn't happen. Anyways I am to that boiling point where I am needing to do this for my own sanity. What I am wanting/needing to know is- Where did you have your surgery? If financed, What are your payments (pretty please)? Also if financed where is your financing through? Anything else that might be helpful would be GREATLY APPRECIATED! I live in Texas so I am leaning toward Mexico of course but I am looking at Dr. Kirshenbaum as well. Thank you for your time everyone.

Weight Loss and Sleep Apnea
Hi Pixel I am a RPSGT, I am the person that does your sleep studies and yes, you will most likely need a pressure adjustment after weight loss. Depending on how close you are to your goal weight, I suggest contacting the lab and requesting a pressure adjustment even if it is just until your goal weight is achieved. At my location we would have no problem with lowering you a few CM of H20 (pressure) and then once your at your goal have another study to see if you even need it. There is no use in getting a study done in the middle of your weight loss when you will most likely need another shortly down the road. Also there is no reason you should be not using your CPAP and compromising you overall treatment because it's at un tolerable pressure. If you have any questions or problems mail me.

sleep study last night..probably going to have to pay for it
Well, I'm glad it is mild, however I am still puzzled on why your on O2? Are you anemic? did they mention anything about Pickwickian syndrome? Try to find out your AHI. and PM me. Thats your apnea hypopnea index. I am interested in knowing what it is. Where I work we would take care of the apnea first, even mild to avoid O2 every night.
