    Somebody help my poor butt!

Thanks Dubs and liannatx, good to know this is normal for now. Gibbs.. honestly, I think I'd prefer that. Thank God my office is so close to the bathroom!
  2. So I never received know whether to count to day of surgery since it was so early but I am either 11 or 12 days post-op.. 12/28 surgery. Anyway, I messed up my count and thought I could have pureed foods yesterday. Yay! Until I had to poop. I was reading my manual this afternoon and realized it was supposed to be this coming Sunday. Anyway, I realized early that I am lactose intolerant now (hopefully this passes). The Protein I've been drinking for the last 3 days (Core Power) is lactose free but actual milk. It still have me the runs though. About 20 minutes or so after I finished about 4 ounces the tumny-rumbles started. That was yesterday and today. Well, before I read the manual I had pureed chicken and boiled green banana with curry gravy. I didn't think anything of it because this was food I have known my whole life; I'm Caribbean. Almost exactly 2 hours after the first bite I'm in the potty again. It started with the tummy rumbles. What I'm worried about is the loose and watery poop. It's like peeing out of the wrong end. Is this what happens when you have food sensitives? Halp!

    Changing insurances

Cigna covers bariatric surgery and "extreme skin removal." I was informed on another thread that United Healthcare also does, depending on the plan. I'm guessing no matter what insurance, it depends on the plan. I was in a thread earlier where people were discussing this, I'll try to find it for you. Beat of luck to you!!
  4. My older brother and I were talking about this today. I was 214.8 on surgery day. 6 days post-op and the scale says 204.4. I don't believe it. I barely look any different to myself. My tummy used to have a little "poof" right around my bellybutton area. Even after surgery, it was there. It wasn't there yesterday and it hasn't come back. That's the only difference I see though. I've inspected my face, butt, back fat, arms, thighs and stomach. I truly don't know where that 10 lbs went. He said that when I get used to not being as heavy it'll start sinking in. Hearing from you guys though, seems like it might be a while lol.

    Lactose intolerance post-op

Thank you SO much! I was beginning to worry because no one had responded saying yes. I'll try fairway.. pretty sure I've seen that in Publix. I'll pass on the egg beaters though. I read the ingredients lossy once and I can't bring myself to try them.

My soon to be ex changed insurance

First, make sure bariatric surgery is covered with the new company. While you're on the phone with them, you can ask them for surgeons in your area. I strongly suggest you create an account on your carrier's website and search through there. If it helps at all, Cigna covers but United Healthcare does not. Also, I wish you the best of luck in your search for a new provider!
  9. I discovered a few hours ago that I'm now lactose intolerant. It was pretty amazing actually because from the time I had the milk to when I realized I had to go, I'm not sure 15 minutes passed. That's gotta be a record for "food" to pass through me. I say food because I was bad today (day 6 post-op) and tried to eat eggs. Apparently I don't like those anymore. They hurt on their way to my mini-tummy but I blame the healing of the hiatal hernia. Anyway, has anyone else experienced this? Post-op lactose intolerance..

    Fluid intake

My surgery was on Monday, also. I've been off iv since the 29th. According to the nurses I had, this burping to keep going is incredibly... normal. Is jello easier for you to get down than just liquids? If I eat jello, I find that the burp doesn't happen.

    Post-Open Day 3

Sarasleeve.. hearing about it helps. Misery loves company, right? Lol. Really though, I did learn something today.. back rubs! I'm not sure if you can bend forward yet but using a thin pillow to hold your tummy together, have someone rub your back "up." By up, I mean from your lower back toward your shoulders. My brother did this for about 10 minutes with coconut oil on his hands. I've got a a warm towel on there now. All of that to say yay lots of burping!! I'm struggling with the liquids as well. Even extra small sips are painful going down. I found that the warmer the liquid, the less painful it goes down though.

    Post-Open Day 3

I am so glad this pain isn't unique to me. The doctor and nurses tell you that buy it doesn't really mean anything until you hear it from someone else who is going through your pain also. I wish you all the best with your recovery. Just a tip... if you can avoid long car rides, do it. I'm on the last 30 minutes of a 2 hr car ride and it's killer on the back.
  13. Hi everyone. I found this site two days pre-op and I wish I had found it sooner. I was in the throws of anxiety about what life would be life after. Monday, 12/28, was my surgery date. I was released about 2 hours ago. I am 5'4.75." The morning of surgery I weighed 214.8, naked. Today I weigh 212.6, in a sundress with shorts. I've been struggling with gas pain since I woke up from the anesthesia. The one thing I wish I had been prepared for is the pain. I've never hurt so much in my life. In all the videos I watched, blogs I read, all except one woman described their after surgery pain experience as a form of discomfort, not actual pain. Perhaps it is because I had a hietal hernia that needed repairing as well. Truly, I'm not sure. My doctor said it'll take a few days to clear my system completely.. I'm excited at the thought. Oh, to be able to pass gas again! Burping isn't doing the job very well. Is there anyone else who felt their pain level to be almost unbearable upon waking? Walking aside, is there anything else that can help this gas move along? I've been having warm liquids several times throughout day, and that seems to help a bit.
