LipstickLady and Babbs are actually some of the best people on these boards. They are incredibly supportive but have no patience for anyone giving people dangerous information. In addition, NO ONE on this forum has any support for someone who actually states they want to bring others down. That's the exact opposite of a support forum.

This is a public forum .... posting in response to others is how it works. I'm really sad for you that you are so unhappy you're here fat shaming in a support group. Especially when people are trying to help you!

Pre op sucks. It's tough and you just have to shoulder through it.

Post op MATTERs. Your health is at stake. IT MATTERS. Learn the discipline in pre-op so you can muster through it in post op. Seriously. For some, their life could be at stake. The risks of causing leaks sucks MUCH more than a few bites of "real food" would feel.

@Babbs... I agree 100%. I cringe at how my parents dealt with this. I am still damaged! I will not do that to her. I am going to push the pediatrician to do some blood work. I know I want her thyroid checked. She also has a newly diagnosed anxiety disorder and hypothyroidism runs in the family. not sure hormone testing at her age would help. I know looking back I had signs of some PCOS as a teenager but she is only 9. Also this could all be a normal part of puberty. Worrying is just a part of parenting.

I go out as much as I want. I eat out out at restaurants a couple times a week at least. It's all about choices and what you order. High Protein apps or Entrees. Share something with a friend. Take what you can't eat home. Avoid carbs.... Get the veggie of the day instead of fries, skip the bread. My social life has never been more active and it is wonderful!!!! Driving home from 'socializing' as we speak. Had steamed shrimp appetizer as an entree and some of the hubby's veggies. Lol I will have shrimp omelet for Breakfast from my leftovers tomorrow.
WLS is about living not giving up your social life. You will need time to heal but after 4-6 weeks get back out there and enjoy the new you. Of course follow your surgeon's advice on alcohol consumption.

I chose the bypass for a number of reasons, key among them that I wanted as much help as I could get and because, statistically speaking, patients tend to lose more weight faster with the bypass and have a higher statistical probability of maintaining that loss over time. I started the process at a little over 400 pounds and my highest weight was 450, and I was soooo far beyond ready to get this weight off and actually move on with my life, asap. Now at over 13 months out, I'm down almost 200 since surgery and over 250 overall, and I've never been happier or healthier. I also can eat pretty much anything I want (had a bite of my friend's birthday cake yesterday and accounted for those calories) while still not even really desiring sweets/pop/etc. My blood work is perfect, I went from a size 34 to a size 10/12 and I'm pretty damn happy with my life. I also would do it over again a million times.
p.s. - never had any dumping or malabsorption issues, most likely because I followed the plan PERFECTLY for like the first year. Now I'm at the point where I can occasionally treat myself while still generally eating really healthfully, and this was my goal all along: to be happy and healthy and actually be able to have a healthy relationship with food. Worth it beyond belief!

I would talk to your doctor to make sure it is safe for you. For most it is very safe but there are exceptions to that and only your doctor knows your underlying health conditions. Assuming it is safe it worked wonders for me. I got to goal weight in about 7 months. I am no longer in ketosis but most of my carbs are veggies, fruit and some potatoes. No wheat sugar or rice. I still keep my carb lower than the average person and Protein first. Beating the carb addiction has changed my life!

Alex- and this is one of the reasons I've been mostly dormant for the last couple of weeks- and I know others have, as well.
This forum, from my understanding was for people legitimately considering weight-loss surgery or had had weight-loss surgery due to obesity. How any of us got to that state makes no mind. This young lady, and I'm assuming it is a woman, is not obese--whether or not she has an actual eating disorder or is just trying to fill time in her day still doesn't belong here. I think the prudent thing you could've done is reached out to her privately, perhaps suggesting another forum
for people with eating disorders that don't require weight-loss surgery. Alex you know as well as the rest of us who have gone through or going through this how difficult it is. Having a person come on like this quite frankly is not only ridiculous but a slap in the face to those of us who have truly struggled at our highest weights where our life was in jeopardy due to comorbidities and such. This person does need help just in a different way and in a different venue.
Calling out the members on this forum for even having to question her or who want to try and understand her as her story grows more odd by each and every post she makes seems below the standards you set forth not only for behavior but for the reason of this forum. Alex you're the face of this community, and so many of us appreciate the fact that you established it, but allowing people to come in here and basically taunt us with their nonsensical post and comments is below the belt.
The fact that you reinstated her under her original identity here is quite a sad fact.
Now to the original poster, I happen to live in Chicago. I happened to have graduated from one of the top universities in the Midwestern states right here in Evanston Illinois. I'd be happy to meet with you and take you to see some of my colleagues and prior professors who might be able to give you the help you need. And if you'd prefer to do it in Michigan, I have a summer home there, plenty of friends and colleagues in that state as well.

You need serious help - real or fake! If you are even thinking about having a major surgery to lose weight to the point of being underweight - you need help! If you are making all of this up - you need major help. I'm not jealous, offended or anything you might be thinking- I'm just completely horrified at this entire thread - again real or not! If real - your surgeon is an unethical hack job who shouldn't be practicing medicine.

Following and very curious. I was about to get reduction because of back pain before I decided on WLS. 40/42 DDD before WLS. On a 5'1 frame! Yikes! I was sure insurance would pay. Now I am 34/36 C/D. Skin fills most of my bra[emoji34]. I even wonder if I have enough breast tissue to manage a B if I got a lift. So I know you need to remove so much tissue to get a reduction and have insurance pay. Does skin tissue count? How much tissue to qualify as a reduction and get insurance to pay? There is no way I can afford it without help. But I know it costs about 7000 here out of pocket. So that helps. My boobs give a new meaning to the term deflate gate!
