LoveMyBypass reacted to Pup in May 24 Surgery Day
Mine is the 24th also. I'm supposed to eat a 1400
calorie diet for two weeks prior to surgery.... I'm so excited for the surgery and also so excited to be off work, I'm not gonna lie lol
I'm just hoping I have everything I need for the first few days.

I ended up going home instead of being admitted, but I would forgo the toothbrush, toothpaste, bodywash, cotton swabs, washrag, blanket, and socks because the hospital will supply it, unless you are particular about having certain things. The items I added were a heating pad, robe, lingerie, and the other 90% of the carryon luggage was filed with Hello Kitty plushes (to decorate my room), at least 1 was for splinting my abdomen. Before going home, don't forget to ask for lots of adhesive remover pads! If you try to remove sticky adhesive from your skin at home, it's very difficult and your skin will get raw.

LoveMyBypass got a reaction from Pup in May 24 Surgery Day
I've been out on a shoulder injury for almost 10 months. I'm due to return late July. So I will have plenty of time to heal before going back. I work for USPS so I think I need at least 2 months to heal. I should have signed up to get this 2 months after being off work. I would have had surgery already but I was too scared. I'm super ready now. My weight is almost at the 10% I'm supposed to lose. 1 more pound!! Yey!

@@Dub ... I honestly don't think I'll use them either, but I got one just in case. I really don't see how a strip will help anyway. I have 2 portable chargers that are plugged in right now for that reason. Lol. Thank you

LoveMyBypass got a reaction from sandipea in I GOT MY SURGERY DATE!
So, today was my consultation with my surgeon. I was so nervous because I was supposed to lose 25 pounds and I've only lost 22. BUT everything went well. We discussed which surgery was right for me and he agreed with me when I said I wanted bypass surgery. I'm a sugar freak and he agreed that the bypass was the better choice. He explained a few things I already knew, I asked all the questions I needed to ask. My number one concern was... When can I go to Disneyland? Lol. He said right after but please please please remember to drink drink drink or you'll end up in the hospital the next day for dehydration.
Anyway, my surgery date is May 24, but I am on the cancellation list. Who knows maybe I can get surgery earlier. It's finally real to me. It's finally happening and I am so excited.
Just wanted to express my happiness.

@ I wasnt required to lose any weight prior to surgery....hmm i wonder if that is just surgeon preference. Nevertheless I am ready and super excited!
@Lindsey Skinner Abbott @Hannahb3997 Congrats ladies we will be on this journey together!! Are you ready?

@onmica
I am so ready for this surgery! I dont know what i am ready for the most, being off work or having the surgery... haha just kidding, the surgery trumps being off work although I am looking forward to both! I am just praying that everything goes well and the weight falls off. This pre op diet has my mind flipping, but I am getting use to it.

So, my surgery is this Tuesday the 24th of May. Just curious if I'm prepared or not. This is what I have besides a change of clothes and my cell phone...
1. Chapstick
2. A Blanket
3. Toothbrush
4. Toothpaste
5. Mouthwash
6. Body wash
7. My tablet
8. Chargers
9. hair brush
10. Deodorant
11. Wash rag
12. Slippers
13. Gas X Strips
14. Socks
15. Q-Tips
16. Lotion
I don't normally wear makeup, so that isn't on my list. So this is what I have in my bag as of now. I don't plan on washing my hair at the hospital because it's soooo long and I just want it out of my way at all times during recovery. Don't worry, I'm washing it the morning of.
If there is anything I am missing please let me know. I hope I have everything down. I've waited 5 months for this and it's finally here.

LoveMyBypass reacted to hillgirly in In My Hospital Bag
I didn't use the Gas-X in the hospital, but used them quite a bit after I got home--popped a strip and walked lol.
My hospital had two different socks, one was much heavier than the other. See if they have a heavier set for you. I just used the socks, but I did see some patients walking in their slippers so the rules must vary.
Good luck!!!
