    Anyone getting Sleeved in December

You should join the FB group JANUS. It's totally private and a great place to go for extra support for any actual or potential December sleevers!

    New Here

I don't have a low low BMI, but it's right at 35. I'm going to have my surgery in Mexico in December with Dr. Alejandro Lopez in Puerto Vallarta. He also does the surgery in Tijuana. From what I've read and learned from other patients, he and his staff and facilities are top notch! Good luck to you.

    Husband Isn't being supportive

Well there's got to be a buried reason why he's not supportive. I would ask him if he is scared of what could happen and then ask him if he trusts you, and if he does then he should trust that you want to do what's best for your health in the long run. I wouldn't argue or go back and forth with him, but at the very end of the day, sweetheart you have to do what's best for YOU, and pray that he comes around and sees that your need to be healthy is far more important than his ego!

Negative comments - not "fat enough"?

That's exactly what I don't want to hear! The unsolicited diet and exercise advice! Ugh, people don't understand that all of those things have been tried time and time again in my life! If I wanted to do that again, I'd be all in...now it's time for something different and more effective!

    Non supportive spouse

My husband wasn't against me getting the surgery, he kinda was against me getting it in Mexico! But after a while I got him to see that it's safe in Mexico by having him watch videos to see the facilities and reading the info my doctor sent me. Basically I decided that I was going to do it and he could either be with me or I'll go by myself! Needless to say he's getting his stuff together for his passport! Good luck sweets!

    Non supportive spouse

I think it's kind of sad when you can't get the support you need from the one you love the most! But to say that "you need to exercise more" is so one sided! If they could only understand the true struggle here! Sometimes there is so much more to the equation than just going to the gym.

    Anyone getting Sleeved in December

I just requested to join the group. My FB name is different than my username on here. I glad it's private. Everybody doesn't need to know my business! [emoji38]

    Under BMI

I read this title and chuckled to myself a little because I tried and failed to gain weight to reach a 40 BMI a few years back! Y'all...that was the hardest thing in the world for me! I was at like a 37-38 and only needed to gain about 15 pounds. I could not move past 220 which was about 10 pounds short! That was very frustrating. I still haven't made it to 40! But I'm going to press on and just do self pay in Mexico! I refuse to let insurance dictate whether or not I have surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Who did you tell?

I basically have told the people that I want to share it with. My vsg is scheduled for December and I had to ask for time off from work. I filled out the request at work and they asked for a reasons and I just told them that I was having surgery. Nobody asked me for what or even questioned it. My co-workers have noticed me losing weight but they think it's because I'm making better food choices which is true, because at the end of the day, I'm going to have to be making these changes anyway...I may as well start now! But I digress. At the end of the day, I tell who I want to know at this point, and will tell others when the time is right for me and where I'm at in the process. So far my husband, mom, kids and like 2 friends know. I've kept it pretty low key. But it was my choice not because of what I think others will say or think, because I truly don't care, but it was just a personal choice. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. Glad to hear that your doing well.... At least under the circumstances! You did it! Now your going to be on the losers bench! Stay encouraged and just trust the process.
  12. Oh @@karen091866 that is horrible what that woman at your job said, but the way you told the story had me cracking up! What an idiot for saying that you had "vaginal reconstruction"!!! You can't make this stuff up! Maybe one day you'll look back on this and laugh! Keep your spirits high!
  13. I'm just telling a select few. My husband, children, mom (she had RNY) and one friend cuz she will most likely have to watch my dog when I get my surgery. I find it's easier to keep it to yourself at least until after you've had the surgery just so you don't have to deal with the foolishness of other people and their opinions. Opinions are like belly buttons, everybody's got one!
  14. I haven't had surgery yet, but some really good advice I've heard was to bring your own pillow with you to the hospital. A couple reasons why is because you have a comfort of home, if you put a different color pillow case on it, you won't forget it, and plus it's good cushion for your belly on your ride home from the hospital. Place it between your body and your seat belt.
