SusanB55 reacted to con con in How much post-surgical pain should I expect?
There really wasn't much considerable pain from the sleeve. Tenderness at the 5 incision sites. PMy pain was from the hernia repair. Had excruciating stabbing pain in my shoulder that went on for weeks. All my best for your procedure.

Wonderful for you !! Congratulations!! Get lots of rest and keep walking and using the breathing thingy.. I had a good day followed by a few rough days and then it got good again.. This apparently is common.. So stay strong .. I'm 9 days post op and as of Tuesday (1 week from the sleeve) I have felt human.. I'm at the salon now ???? -

@@Laura Lopez I've never heard of that insurance but even more importantly, I've never heard of an insurance company NOT giving you your benefits. I would call them back and ask for the supervisor. If she tells you the same thing, ask who CAN give you the benefits. Something doesn't smell right!

What we are experiencing is called "telogen effluvium". If you google that you will get a better understanding of process.

Most of the time it's barely noticeable to anyone else but us.

SusanB55 got a reaction from KristenLe in Tingling toes, weird sensations one week out from surgery
Thank you! I considered carb withdrawal which may be why I get shaky hands quite often. I read somewhere that this might be a deficiency. I'll ask the doc tomorrow at my post op.

@@SusanB55 It could be low potassium - but it could also be a number of other things that you need to discuss with your surgeon. Hope you feel better soon! Keep us posted as to what your surgeon thinks is going on!

Could be temporary, associated with less carbs and calories. However, it's also a symptom of diabetes. Check with the doctor.

@@NoMoBand Hi Jake! He is down 17 lbs since his surgery on may 2! He is doing well with meeting his Protein and Water requirements. He is doing well with soft foods and I am longing to be on them as well. One more day for me☺

Seriously??? OMG, that's utterly ridiculous! I called several times to BCBS AZ (Fed plan) and was treated so well and all my questions were answered. Yes, they had their requirements and the surgeon had his, but they should still quote benefits. I did medical billing for 13 years and this is the norm!

I'm so grateful my surgeon doesn't believe in pre-op diets, lol. But yes, I was very relieved to have a 730 AM case, so I understand why you are so upset. I was a wreck for about a week prior and the night before I was at the point of acceptance of it. Still scared, still unsure of what was to come, but at least accepted it. I'll be praying for you

I'm in Medical adminstration too and was quote annoyed. I even asked our benefits coordinator to try and get it and she was given the general policy info. It's BCBS of RI.
