One of our esteemed colleagues, Mr. @Fatty McFatster of the U.S.A. McFatsters has announced having slid in under 300. [Applause, applause.] No word has ever taken hold for the achievement and there should be one. "Onederland" is a great place name. I propose "Twoonerville" for its neighbor and, in thanks for inspiring the name, appoint FMcF as Mayor for as long as his pants stay up without suspenders.

People say stupid shit all the time. It's almost like they don't understand that not filling the air with their voice would be perfectly acceptable. Apparently they haven't heard the saying " It's Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than speak and remove all doubt." Just say a prayer for them and keep it moving.

    You are absolutely adorable.
Answer with a simple, "I'm sure you didn't mean to sound as rude (or offensive) as you just did." And then smile. I got all those comments, too. I truly believe most people are trying to sound supportive/complimentary and don't realize they really sound like f*ckwits. Educate them nicely.

No such thing as losing weight too fast when you are obese.
Also, please realize that you are in the honeymoon phase. It will not last forever and you will soon begin to hit stalls and then your weight loss will eventually stop altogether. So for the first 2 years, especially the first year, you should focus on losing as much weight as possible. If you get below weight you can then increase your calories but cross that bridge when it's needed.

For home, a long handled shower poof has been a godsend this week. No straining to get my back or legs. I also had a hernia repair and my husband bought me one of those back pillows that have the arms. It made getting in and out of bed a lot easier.

I haven't thought about postop, but I do know I'm going to have a mani, pedi, and massage preop. Maybe a facial. No polish, just pampering. I never wear polish in the winter.

It's totally normal for weight loss to slow. As long as you are sticking with the basics....protein, Water, Vitamins, and activity then you are doing what you are supposed to. If, not, you know what to change....more Protein, more Water, less carbs, take your Vitamins, eat more non starchy veggies, and excercise more.
And remember this is not a race. The rate at which you lose in no way reflects your long term success. The only thing that matters is that you never, ever, stop trying. Giving up is the only failure.

I just wanted to post today because I hit a significant milestone. I am in the 300's! My scale this morning read 398.8 and I am thrilled. I can't remember the last time I was under 400. It has to have been over a decade ago and maybe two. I was really good about sticking my head in the sand for a very long time. Just saying the numbers out loud is a huge change for me.
I also started treatment on my lymphedema a couple of weeks ago. I met with the PT pre-surgery and we decided to wait until after surgery to start aggressive treatment. It already seems to be helping.
I am also starting a creative writing class this evening in a neighboring city. I couldn't have done that a year ago, especially in the winter time because I was having such a hard time getting around.
Now, I need to schedule my next reward massage!

I can't stand it anymore. I am so sick of reading posts about the beautiful doctor and the hottie surgeon. Over and over people keep complimenting physicians on their looks. I could care less what they look like. Just because someone is considered good-looking does not make them competent!!! My Dad died trusting his oh-so-nice doctor because he was friendly but the guy was an idiot, and has since had his license put on probation.
If you're considering any kind of procedure, please don't choose based on appearance. Investigate the reputation, the complication rate, how well and easily your questions get answered, any online reviews. Beauty may be in the eye of the beholder, but don't put your life in just anyone's hands.
    Rant over. Breath taken.

heidikat72 reacted to OKCPirate in My goal is 200lbs weight loss. I refuse bypass. Has anyone lost beyound the 60% doctora expect with sleeve?
The short answer is "yes." But I will warn you, the averages are all based on the average person.
That means that there are some who ignore the doctors warning and think they can eat pureed Big Macs and be OK, and that is wrong. The sleeve is a tool, not a magic wand.
If you are willing to pay the price, track your food and utilize this tool, you can own this. But if you think I don't have to think about it, no you won't. It's really that simple.

Your surgeon sounds like an idiot. I mean maybe at 1 year would could be at goal but most Doctors don't even estimate you to get into a healthy BMI if you are super morbidly obese. They hope you lose about 60% of your excess weight.

I have run into a few previous coworkers in the last couple of months. I find unless I am literally standing with my hubby, people don't even recognize me all.
When they realize it is me there is a period of shock and usually followed by head shaking like they cannot believe it is me.
Then they will ask how I did it. I honestly do not care who knows about my having bypass surgery. When I look at groups of people it is shocking to me how many in each group are obese or morbidly obese. I figure if I tell my story, maybe one or two might be so interested that they follow suit.
When I tell my story I make sure they understand that having WLS requires a huge commitment to diet, exercise and a completely different mindset.
It really does help them to understand it is not as simple as I have surgery and lose massive weight and it's easy. Yet, when they see someone like me continuing to meet my goals everyday it will hopefully inspire others in the same situation to do something about it before it is too late.

the dizziness upon standing after sitting can also be a symptom of blood pressure issues so definitely start monitoring your blood pressure. I know when my blood pressure is off, I definitely have to make sure I don't stand up too quick if I'm been sitting/kneeling/laying down for a while
