I know! I feel so optimistic about this year : )

  3. Random- I am not someone who likes to cook....but since surgery I have become obsessed with the food/cooking chanels--my first choice if I'm watching tv these days...my family thinks I've lost my mind...foodie who doesn't eat???

I literally had a Facebook album called "food Imcook but don't eat" lol now I have a garden and I do a lot from scratch and I love to cook for me. I know everything that goes in my body.

Love it! Great idea cooking from scratch....I can't even eat enough at this time to make it worth cooking for me....my hubby has taken on the task since I'm not motivated at all to even think about it :-P

Warning - Pity Party for 1....

That completely sucks....proud of you for not eating the bag of chips!

    Food food food

I totally understand...but I found sitting at a table better than being left out of the meal (which is what hubby and kiddos did on Turkey day)...they were trying to be kind then..but that really hurt my feelings! I'm lucky in a way that nothing really sounds good, so I just sat and talked with them and enjoyed :-)
  6. So I talked to my doc at my one month post-op about getting dizzy when going from squatting down to standing up..he said it was totally normal just to get up slower. They double checked my bp which was great and I am not on any bp meds. I haven't ever had issues with it. Well today, I made it from my bed into my master bedroom and without warning totally fell to the ground. I wouldn't say blacked out, b/c I didn't lose consciousness although I was woozy when I stood back up. Then this afternoon made it from my room going toward the kitchen and it almost happened again--I grabbed hold of a column thing we have in our house until it passed. It has gotten me a little scared b/c it comes on without warning while I'm in the middle of walking, not when I first stand up. Has this happened to anyone else? Thanks!

    Dizzy- 5 weeks out

Stress very well could be it...hubby had a motorcycle accident and broke his 2nd vertebrate....has gone through surgery etc...still taking care of him, house, and getting ready for cmas...still getting dizzy, but nothing like the day I passed out. I'll start keeping a log.

    Dizzy- 5 weeks out

I could see this morning be that...but the other times are just random when I get up from sitting...even if it isnt for an extended time....not sure!
  9. My dr has me taking double of all my vitamens etc (I split them and take twice a day)....What do you take of acid reducer? I am only taking one a day now, but wasn't sure if b/c of the new stomach if I should be taking twice a day. What are you guys doing?

    Dress size conundrum

I'm your height and have never been able to wear a 12/14 at 200ish.....I am 181 right now and there are some 18s I still can't wear and 16s just aren't there yet...

Will drinking water stretch my sleeve?

I"m glad you asked...I meant to ask my dr this yesterday and forgot.

    What to say at work?

I told people who were close to me...most of my co-workers know I have worked my a** off the 4 months leading up to surgery to lose weight (I lost the majority before surgery)....people who don't know me that well mostly think it is all starting to pay off big time...lots of time I just tell people high Protein and lots of gym time. Others who know are really just curious....they were excited when I could move from liquids to mushy type foods and have been my cheerleaders. I had one friend who said don't do it, but she wasn't snarky...just worried about me. She has been a huge supporter since then. In the hospital last week she called me daily to make sure that I didn't need her to bring me a protien drink or some form of protien.....I had to miss the last week of work b/c hubby was in a major accident and have 2 weeks off for the holidays now....so I'm sure I"ll be getting some looks, b/c the weight is coming off pretty quickly right now between stress and the surgery. My boss was so happy for me...she was the one I was most worried about telling that I would be missing work for wls.

    So cold

My dr mentioned it at one month out about being less tolerant of cold now that I've lost weight--that it is a normal side effect..

    Poop

Apparently just the treat of a laxative or an enema spoken by the dr worked....I POOPED!!! :-)
  15. Steph Anie

    Poop

I'm 4 weeks out and I can't remember the last time I pooped. I'm going to have to get a poop calendar. I am not even kidding. I know for a while I was going once ever 3 days or so---I know I haven't pooped this week or last. I am passing gas...but no poop. What can we do to get things moving again? I'm not in pain or uncomfortable or anything if that makes a difference. A girls gotta go!
  16. Today I have lost 53% of the weight that the docter would like me to lose....omg half way there!! I am no longer morbidly obese and the doctor says I have added years to my life expectency. My goals are finally looking achievable... I can do this!

    Poop

Up until this weekend I was meeting my daily water and Fluid goals. Hubby was in a motorcycle accident Saturday and fractured his C2 vertebrate and we spent until Monday on the neurology floor at the hospital--had surgery etc. I feel like my eating and everything has gone backwards due to this (only 4 weeks post op)--but I was having this issue before he actually had his accident. I am going to try miralax today....meet with dr tomorrow for my 1 month post-op.

    Dizziness

That is on my list for my dr in two days for my 4 week check up. I get so dizzy when I squat down to look at something then stand up.
  19. That dreaded moment you are told you need to come to the trauma center to meet your spouse. It has been a rough couple of days. Hubby broke his C2 vertebrate which is right up underneath your skull. We are so blessed that he is not paralized. We spent days on the nuerology floor at our local trauma center. I didn't grab my vitamens or protien drinks (only 4 weeks post op)....I ate mushy protiens at the hosptial and took lots of walks to help with the stress. I know my vitaman levels will be a mess later this week at the dr, but I am proud of my self for not turning to food in a time where no one could blame me for doing it. Total NSV!

I am so sorry to hear about this; however, I am very happy to hear that he will not be paralyzed. I am definitely sending thoughts and prayers your way. And it is inspiring to see that you found a positive in this situation! Take care of that spouse of yours!

  20. The scale hasn't been my friend, but I've come to terms with that for the most part. My question is if the scale isn't moving....how are my clothes fitting differently-- people are finally starting to notice the weight that I lost pre-op and clothes that I haven't fit into in 5 years are starting to fit and even getting loose. I don't get how I can not be losing pounds but that I seem to still be shrinking. Anyone know what the heck my body is doing?
  21. I guess I had always thought it was baloney when people had said that you could lose inches but not lose weight :-P
  22. It is a great day to be alive :-)

    Biotin

For those of you taking Biotin, how much are you taking per day?All of my other Vitamins I take twice a day, so I was thinking I would need to do the same for Biotin with the way my new student works. Any advice?
  24. Steph Anie

    itching?

No advice, but I am 3 weeks out and I still itch....but now I'm itchy all over my belly. eek!
  25. Nervous about going to my one month post-op b/c the scale isn't moving! I am doing everything I am supposed to but has stayed the same since 1 week post-op. urgh!

Clothes are fitting good...lots getting too big, and people are starting to finally notice. I've lost like 50 or so lbs since July, but only like 12ish since surgery date.

it's probably the legendary "three-week stall". It's very common. Mine last 2 weeks. Someone on another forum said hers lasted 3 weeks. Just stick to your plan and the weight will start falling off again.

That's the time to go. Don't worry about the scale. Make sure you are logging and take the time to review your eating with the nutritionist. Ask for suggestions & recommendations.
