Raw Oysters & Sashimi
I had a great experience eating sashimi at 2 1/2 weeks post op, which is when it was allowed by my plan. Great source of lean protein!

To all 3 weeks post op : plz share meal ideas
It really depends on the plan provided to you by your surgical team and nutritionist. I'm almost 4 weeks post-op. At the 3 week mark I was starting soft foods - well chewed meat and fish mostly since I am focusing on Protein. Soft or macerated fruit is allowed at 3 weeks on my plan. Protein Bars and salads aren't to be introduced until a month post-op.

Caffeine
I wasn't allowed to have caffeine during my 5 day liquid pre-op diet and for 2 weeks after surgery.

Clothes shopping before surgery
I have a lot of old clothes I can use as I work my way down in sizes. The items I got are my ultimate goal clothes. I didn't buy a lot. Mostly tops and dresses (that I can easily alter if needed), I've fluctuated so much in weight in my 31 years that I have clothes ranging from size 20 down to 10. Ha, yeah I am the same way. I have size 4-18 in my closet. I went through and donated anything I didn't think I would like and set aside a few beautiful pieces as goal clothes. I'm already down to a 12-14. But all the cute clothes are size 8 and down. A lot of the best brands don't make clothes bigger than that. Chanel does and some of the Italian brands do. I am going to buy myself the most gorgeous exquisite pieces when I am at goal.....I am mostly thinking about coats. I want a leather trench coat so badly.

Clothes shopping before surgery
I think this could end up being a waste of money based on a lot of what I've read here. Do you have any old clothes in your closet that are too small for you now? Maybe pull those out and look forward to them. I know I have a ton. I'm 3 weeks out and have changed sizes slightly in clothes, but mostly things just fit better now. One thing I do need ASAP is new bras and shapewear. Which is kind of fun!

Food items that I am scared of..
Oh ok I get it!I am still too early post-op (3.5 weeks) to even think about trying any food that I overindulged in pre-op. Also was diagnosed celiac at the same time so my list would have included pizza, Pasta, but I can't ever have them again bc of the wheat. So I'm not sure what would make my list at this point. Oh I know- chocolate!

CALLING ALL JULY 2016 SLEEVERS
Hi guys! I'm just checking in. I had surgery on 7/7 and am feeling the best I have felt in the last couple of years. The weight is coming off, I'm getting nice bursts of energy and my skin is glowing. I'm on soft foods and am supposed to try "regular" foods this week. Not sure what I'll end up trying for regular first. I've been eating mostly dairy, cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese, but have tried all kinds of fish, chicken breast, veal, cheeseburger and no problems so far. I just feel full right around the 2 oz in supposed to eat on my plan. I was off shakes for a few days while traveling but am now going back on as its really hard to get enough protein from food alone in such small amounts. Best wishes to all the other July sleevers!

Food allergies
Ah thank you @@KristenLe ! I am stil so new at the celiac thing (and the sleeve thing) that I didn't think to check Vitamins. I just did and they are all good. I see you are a fellow shellfish allergy sufferer....I wish I could eat shellfish as well. Looks delicious and like a great healthy source of Protein.

Food allergies
Hi guys. This is not the first time I've tried to bump a thread about food allergies or celiac but I really am curious to speak with other sleepers/WLS patients who are in the same boat. I was diagnosed with celiac thanks to the upper endoscopy that was part of my pre-op requirements and a subsequent blood test as well. So I'm learning a gluten free lifestyle as well as the post WLS lifestyle. I think the two play nicely with each other. I also have a lifelong allergy to shellfish, tree nuts, and rice. I always ignored my rice allergy because it caused no symptoms that I knew of but now I am taking it seriously and discussing w/ my new BFF - my GI doc. Plus- no room for rice on my post sleeve diet at this stage anyway. I also have allergic skin reactions to watermelon and kiwi. Anyone else with similar issues? Sleevers not sleepers.....

Length of hospital stay?
I had surgery on a Thursday morning and went home around 3 pm Friday. I was in my office on Tuesday and traveled for work at 2 and a half weeks post op.

Getting in the pool?
My surgeon cleared me for the pool at my 1 week post op visit and I have been happily getting aquatic exercise since!

Magnesium Citrate Day
I had to do this the night before my surgery. It worked in about 30 minutes. Slept through the night, woke up with some light cramping and had another loose movement. Make sure to drink a ton of water.

"Powerful Yogurt"
I like the skyr as well but haven't found a brand without super high sugar content. Anyone know?

I hate shopping...wait, what?
The better department stores have personal shoppers: bergdorfs, neimans, nordstroms, saks etc. and they also do alterations in house.

About to start Pureed foods....how do I fit in protein?
I still rely on protein drinks and I'm through pureed and onto soft food. If you can't have dairy try pureed or very well chewed fish. Soft cooked white fish is delicious and goes down easy for me as do canned tuna and salmon.

2nd week post op
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one struggling with this phase, it sounds like you have it all together, I may try some of those things you're doing and see it works for me! I live in a foreign country so I understand! I guess I'm finding it hard because I'm just not hungry so I don't want to eat, but I know I need to but if I'm still full from the previous meal why force myself to eat?! The struggle is real Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I hear you but you do have to force yourself on the protein a bit. My doctor wants me getting at least 60-70 grams a day. That's why the shakes are so clutch. Honestly I grabbed a bunch of single packs for this trip last minute and thank god I did. I don't know how I would have hit my goals without them. I just checked and I only have 3 left for 4 more days and I had been relying on them 2x a day. So I'm going to need to force myself to eat like fish or something on a strict schedule over the next 4 days or I won't hit my goals. It's really hard though. Like this morning I had to leave for the airport around 6 am. I woke up at 5 and forced myself to choke down a half a Greek yogurt. I sooo didn't want it, I'm never hungry that early. But now I'm on a plane and won't be anywhere near food/protein until at least noon. I looked frantically in the airport for a protein shake but they didn't have them. So even the measly 7 grams of protein I got from the yogurt was a worthwhile battle because without it I'd be at 0. Actually I just remembered I threw my last babybel in my bag so I can eat that now. I don't think we're ever supposed to be "hungry" at this stage. I would happily just sip fuids at this point. If it helps you at all- I make my Protein Shakes with milk for added protein. They have milk in Germany!

2nd week post op
I'm on soft food/purées and I have to agree- it is seriously a full time job to get this right at this stage. All the advice about planning and regimenting consumption to a schedule is spot on. For the past week I've been traveling in a foreign country and I've been so busy with work or sightseeing for the bigger part of the day that I've actually been forcing myself to wake up 2 hours earlier than I need to in order to start getting in fluids and Protein. So I wake up and down 8-16 oz of Water and a Protein shake. That takes me 60-90 minutes. Then I wait 30-45 minutes and have my 2 oz of yogurt or cottage cheese. While I'm out and about I have loads of water and a Powerade zero. I've been packing a yogurt and a piece of cheese. Then when I get home at night I have another protein shake and another piece of cheese. Wait 30- 45 minutes and finish a 16 oz water before bed. Almost exclusively dairy which is annoying. When I was home last week I was eating canned or cooked soft fish and sometimes eggs which made a nice difference. I'm heading to an all inclusive resort tomorrow for the rest of the week and I'm planning to get my 2 oz of soft protein rich food at least 4 times a day and break the dairy dependence.
