Bananas are NOT a low carb food
Is it really like candy if 1/2 a cup is 8.7 net carbs ? I can probably only squeeze in 1/3 or 1/4 cup alongside my Protein at this early stage anyway so I might go for it. I'll alternate with the berries. And lots and lots of fluids. Gotta stay sweet! Priorities...

Help me decide - got wedding menu for tonight
Go for the Patagonian toothfish

Sardines
Wait until you're allowed to have soft fish. They're a good choice for when you can! I love em.

Bananas are NOT a low carb food
Does that knowledge come from experience? I always thought the old adage was pineapple and watermelon! I've been drinking....watermelon.

Question for the women.
I had amenorrhea pre-op but so far had two completely normal periods since surgery 9 weeks ago. Exactly the kind I used to get before I started gaining a few years ago - 4-5 days w/ two that are heavier than the rest. So if this keeps up I would say that surgery totally restored my cycle to compete normalcy!

Banana-Oreo comparison aside that list you posted @@OutsideMatchInside of fruits and net carbs is mega helpful. I'm trying to work fruit back into my daily diet to uhhhhh keep things smelling sweet down there!!! So thank you!

I Love Tim Gunn
@@heidikat72 Isaac Mizrahi is exactly the kind of designer Tim Gunn is clamoring for. He literally gave up high fashion to design for the masses at Target and then QVC and profited massively from it. Way more money than he was making selling mink trimmed skirts size 0-8 at Bergdorfs. One of my favorite designers of all time. His mother and aunts were big and they were his first customers.

Scar treatment
I should add that if mine aren't totally vanished by 6 months pre-op I'll have them lasered off.

I Love Tim Gunn
He's such a doll. I love him too. He really dgaf about isolating himself from all of the fashion elite.

Actigall
I take it twice a day as well, starting immediately post op. Except my surgeon wants me to do it for 6 months- not 3. I hope it works!

Scar treatment
My dermatologist gave me biocorneum cream for my incisions. My scars flattened out about a week or so of use and now I'm just watching for them to fade. Sometimes I place a silicone scar away sheet on top of the biocorneum to hold it all in place.

Sleep Study
I am sure I have sleep apnea - bedmates have observed me stop breathing in my sleep going back to before I was overweight at all. It was also observed during my endoscopy. My surgeon and I both wanted a sleep study pre-op but my insurance denied it on 3 appeals. That said - when I met with the anaesthesiologist at my pre-surgical appointment I told him I believed I had apnea and we discussed his method for dealing with that. He also examined and photographed my anatomy. It IS important to discuss this with your anaesthesiologist. They ARE used to working with apnea sufferers because many obese people have it, but definitely definitely raise the point. I need to look into what the sleep study would cost me out of pocket, but for $500 I would go for it. A CPAP machine can help you sleep better and that in turn can help with your weight loss. Fascinating - can you get an rx for a CPAP based on a home study?

How many calories do you get in a day?
I'm 8-900 most days at 9 weeks out. Some days I go up to 1100. No idea how you all keep your calories so low! My biggest fear is that I will screw up my metabolism and have to maintain at 1000 calories or lower when I am done losing weight.

12 Days Post Op- Questions about food
@@jwitchy65 I'm 2 months post op and I had the same experience. I'm still waiting for something bad to happen! Never had any nausea, visiting, uncomfortable feeling, etc. All food has gone down easy. Some of us just heal really well, or had particularly talented surgeons or whatever. Don't sweat it.

Disgusting question: Colds/Allergies
I'm a lifelong hay fever and other allergy sufferer and I know this will sound so tired but seriously the neti pot and saline nasal sprays have been life changing for me at clearing out congestion. But when all else fails - sudafed.

Pregnancy on my mind - 10 weeks
When was the last time you spoke to your gynecologist about this? Make an appointment and discuss these issues with them. They can certainly let you know if you are ovulating or not. I too had pregnancy on my mind when I was deciding to have WLS. I had not had my period in a year. No PCOS either. I have been regular again since surgery thankfully. I am shocked by how rapidly that happened for me and curious to see if it continues as I move forward in my journey. I'm looking into freezing my eggs so I can focus on my health and put off pregnancy until I am at my goal weight and maintaining and am really excelling at my new healthier lifestyle.

Can we talk carbs?
Fascinating thread. I can't eat rice or wheat so I'm limited to mostly corn based carbs, in addition to fruits and vegetables etc. I'm fairly focused on trying to increase the fruits and veggies in my diet right now, I just can't wrap my head around nutrition without those two food groups. But as many have said it is difficult to just get in enough Protein. So other carbs (corn) are on the back burner for now. I think I've lost weight rapidly post-op eating mostly protein and fat but it is not a diet I wish to maintain for life.

Labor Day weekend. .. anyone struggling?
I haven't been struggling with food but this is the first time I've struggled emotionally since surgery two months ago. My plans to head out of town fell through last minute (long story...family drama) and this is the first LDW in many years that I was stuck in the city. Almost everyone I know is gone and it's just been lonely. I find myself moping much the way I would pre surgery except without the binge eating. Wondering if it's hormones or just the plain ol' blues. Trying to cheer myself up by trying on some clothes I set aside before surgery that were too small. So far they fit but just aren't that cute! LOL

After the long trek
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. Thank you!!! I'm working it! Sooooo close to the 170's right now I can TASTE it!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App You know as long as you keep doing your thing it will soon come. Seriously though, your thread this morning motivated me to take a long walk on the boardwalk here in Brooklyn. Not even close to the distance you covered but a good reminder that the time to miss out on simple joys like long scenic walks is behind us. We live in two of the greatest cities in the world, right?? No time to feel bad about all that time I spent inside eating...moping...only time for moving forward! Enjoying life. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. Veggies....
I've had raw tomatoes several times (8 weeks post op) and they went down fine. It's tomato season after all!

6 months post-op - debating if I should join a gym
That's a smart idea! I go back and forth on the gym. I live by a huge gorgeous park and have been trying to get my workouts in there while it's still nice weather. Winter might push me back into a gym. You might also try some classes at a fitness studio and see if you prefer that.

Weightloss Roll Call!

NSV shout outs
I love how rarely I have to clean the kitchen and run the dishwasher! Seriously, my kitchen stays spotless because I'm using it so little. I also produce way less trash!
