lifeofblair got a reaction from Nymea in Protein drink suggestions please
I could barely stomach Protein drinks after surgery. I drank lots of milk. Not sure what's available, but there's various protein Water out there. Isopure makes some but they can be pricey. I make my own Protein Shakes where they taste like milkshakes otherwise I wouldn't be able to stomach them.

I didn't have the band, but I am catching myself slipping into old habits. I also have a bad back and doctor told me to do the elliptical, bike or something similar. There's always pool exercises. My insurance doesn't cover my visits anymore, so I didn't go to my 1 year check up. it's hard, but we can't get back on track!

I like the Powerful Yogurt drink. I found it in Walmart also. Tastes like a yoo-hoo to me.

I work for a similar size company. I didn't tell anyone, but they figured it out. They were supportive of it. There have been others that have had it in the past and one lady was considering it, but has been able to lose weight without it.

I was the same way! I started dating in March. it's been fun go see what's out there and to go on dates. Nothing has stuck yet, but it's fun trying!! I've never brought up surgery or anything. I just say I eat healthy and work out just general stuff. Now if it goes anywhere I would, but nothing has yet.

I'm sure many will disagree and that's totally fine with me....
However, for me personally...wls has been the easiest way out.
I've had food addiction most of my adult life and without forcefully being restricted from food was the only thing that could save me from myself. A food addiction is probably the most difficult type of addiction to overcome. Mainly because you just can't stay away from food completely. A crackhead has a better chance of recovery because they just have to stay away from the crack house or people that are enablers.
I lost 70 lbs on my own before wls and I can tell you that it was hands down far more difficult than the wls. I worked out 2 hours almost everyday and was eating lean small meals.I was very non social cause there was no way I had enough will power to not indulge while eating with friends. I felt great, but I was miserable and always hungry. After a life long of yo-yo dieting, I knew wls was the only way out of that addiction. I'm sure if there was a surgery that could help crackheads stop being crackheads ,I would definitely never discourage them from taking the easy way out. Who really cares as long as their finally healthy and whole again. I'm proud to admit this has been the easiest way out for me.

Okay, so I got off track when I was out of town, but now that I'm back I'm trying to get back into the groove. My problem is I get "hungry" I'm sure it's head hunger, but it's so hard to ignore. That and I still want to boredom eat. That will get me back to pre surgery and I don't want that!
What are some things you do to take your mind off eating and/or hunger? I find myself more obsessed with food after surgery than I was before and I need to get my head out of that thinking.

I was allowed to have unlimited onions, green Beans and other veggies. That's how I got through! That and fear they would cancel the surgery

Hi, I am 13 months post op and I started to get "head hunger" about 8 months post op. Was so depressed that this was happening so soon. I expected it after a year at least! This may sound a little different, but doctor told me one of the best things to munch on was watermelon. I have my trouble in the evening during TV time, and if I am still hungry after my last snack, I just sit there with a bowl of watermelon and it tells my brain that I'm eating! I am blessed to have not gained any weight from this mental stuff, and I'm down 120.5 in the 13 months. Can't complain about that! I have another 10 lbs. or so to go, and I know it will take awhile, and though that at one time that thought drove me nuts, I don't let it worry me anymore. It beats going up! Take care and good luck!

    1. Exercise
    2. Do something that requires using your hands -- crafts, woodworking, home repairs, I am sure you can get creative here!
    3. Allow yourself unlimited dry chicken breast and broccoli. Then you can tell yourself, if you are really hungry, go eat some chicken. And if you don't want that chicken and broccoli, you aren't hungry and your mind can move on after acknowledging that.
    4. I know this sounds a little masochistic, but . . . make a list of the most painful physical, emotional, and psychological things you have ever experienced in your life. When you start to feel hungry and sorry for yourself, go review the list and ask yourself how bad your hunger is compared to what is on the list. Remind yourself that you got through those things and you can get through your hunger.
    5. Plan your eating in advance, at the beginning of each day. Whether that is writing a schedule or pre-logging your food in MFP, once you have it written down, it is easier to commit to. When you start to feel hungry, bored, cravings, you can remind yourself that you are scheduled to have a snack of apple slices at 4 PM (just as an example) and that it is fine to wait until then.

The other day I could've gone for a large coke from McDonald's. Theirs is the best. But, I miss eating sweets the most granted that's what got me here, I wish I could eat them in small portions but I've never been able to

I had sushi last night for the first time in over a year. It was worth every little bite! So good.
I will say I do miss all the unhealthy foods (I have gotten off track), but I am now a firm believer in "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels". Honestly, at this point it's my motivation not to let the bad habits take hold.
