So tomorrow is the big day. Have to be at the hospital by 9 and surgery is at 11.
    It's finally hitting me.
After years of trying. Years of the doctor telling me to go trough with this surgery and never having the strength to say I can't do this on my own... It's finally here.
I'm so nervous I've broken down crying so many times I've lost count.
I have a great support system but I'm scared if I can do this. Will I fail? Will I awake in the recovery room? Will I be able to make it mentally through the next few months as my body transitions and my mind wraps around the fact that I can never go back to how I was. Will I like, even love, the new me?
Sorry for the venting.. I just need to get this off my chest.
Fingers crossed everything goes okay.. Fingers crossed I can keep my mind in the right mind set.
Here goes... New year new me.

It is no secret here that bariatric surgery will expose the raw dynamics of your relationships. It is a painful process, but people will expose how they really feel about you, and who is supportive of your efforts and who you should avoid. As I have said recently, people who talk about you that way are not telling you about who you are, they are telling you about who they are.
Your husband is a gift. Too bad he comes with all that drama. So, let the little dogs bark and just go on with your pursuit of health and happiness.

bluejeanbaby reacted to NY Lou in 11 months out and just ran a 26.2 mile marathon - with before & after pics
its been a little over 11 months since my sleeve surgery (march 19, 2013). yesterday I accomplished a goal that ive had since I was a teenager. im 50 years old now and just ran my first full 26.2 mile marathon! my goal was under 5 hours and I did it in 4 hours 51 minutes. ive been running ever since I started exercising after surgery and when I first started I couldn't run for more than 1 minute! after running a few 13.1 mile half marathons i started training 5 months ago for a full 26.2 mile marathon and now I can finally check that off my bucket list. today im at my lowest weight ever at 180.25 pounds. for the last 20 years before surgery I was always around 300 pounds. im so grateful for this surgery, but the truth is that if you don't use the surgery as a tool along with good food choices and exercise, it will be hard to achieve your long term goals. the surgery alone may have lost me 60 pounds, but believe me, the last 60 pounds is because of me using my new sleeve as part of an entire life style change that includes eating healthy, knowing when to say no when my sleeve is satisfied (not bursting) and dedicating myself to exercise 4x a week even when I don't feel like doing it. I never thought I would be a success story as that always happened to someone else, not me....well now its me and it can be you too! best of luck to everyone, post pre-surgery and post-surgery. just remember to stop making excuses and start making the changes to guarantee yourself success.

i have been going to planet fitness since I was three weeks out of surgery. I used the treadmill until I felt comfortable doing more. I was going as my hubbies guest. Three weeks ago I joined so I could start working with the personal trainer(free with black card) I start my actually training Wednesday of this week. He will help me to figure out the settings on each machine so I am using it correctly. Also he will figure out the weighs that I need to be using so that I am not over doing it. I am going to stick with the trainer and use him as much as possible to get toned and to my goal weigh and maintain the weigh for awhile before I change anything up. Then I will consider the y because I will be able to use the pool and not feel like everyone in the place is starring at me. Also by working with the trainer and having him check me every so often I will know I am lifting the correct weight and doing the correct form. After about 6-8 months of working with him a believe that I will know every machine in the gym and how to use it correctly. I have met him the trainer twice and told him he was going to be stuck with my for awhile. So hopefully my plan works and then by the middle of the summer I will be ready for the pool!! BTW, my stats are
    HW-Jan 2015(seminar Jan 8) 265
    SW-June 15-240
    Today-187
So I have loss and hopefully the personal trainer can help get the last 22 pounds off as my goal weigh is 165.

First 5 days I lived on Protein shakes, greek yogurt, Cream of rice, home made chicken broth, (frozen into ice cubes for easy storage... do this with all your Soups btw). Only thing I can think that I didn't have was chewable Tylenol. I munched a couple of Tylenol Jrs when needed rather than the narcotic Syrup they sent me home with. Just didn't need it and it tends to give me icky tummy on a good day so I skipped it.

Walked into one of my favorite stores yesterday to buy some better fitting slacks for work and guess what....my new size is no longer in the big and talll section. 70 days post op and down almost 70 pounds. I'm still a work in progress, but it's been a great journey so far.

    @@readyforchange15 - WHERE ARE YOU!!!!
    It's almost time!
What did you eat today? The only restriction is not to eat after midnight. My husband made pancakes this morning. I felt guilty. I've had a gallon on Water, some yogurt . . .and probably some turkey chili for dinner with a light salad.
My heart is racing. The support here is amazing . . .so I don't think I'm nervous anymore . . .just anxious with a tad bit of excitement.

My experience was I did not get good results using the weight machines. It was doing boot camp style - using your own body weight as resistance - that I got toned and fit. That and high intensity aerobic like spinning (it is done as interval training ). I found the y had these things, but the cheaper places just have machines and free weights.
I am comfortable using free weights since I learned in college but not everyone is. Not everyone has (or wants) a spotter. I only trusted male spotters when I was benching 100# with free weights and I frankly don't want to deal with it anymore.
So, what I can attest to is I never built big muscles. I get toned and defined but lack the "T" to bulk up. Women are foolish to worry about it unless they plan to lift like 4 hours a day and take steriods.

My surgery went great! I feel much better than I thought I would. A little ab soreness when going to a sitting position but other than that, I feel good. I've been drinking with no nausea which I was really worried about too.
My surgeon said if I'm still doing well by 5pm he will discharge me then. ????

The only things I used were my phone, glasses, and toothbrush/paste. I brought other things like my robe and slippers but did not need them cause they made me wear slipper socks and you can't get the robe over the IV lines. Take as little as possible to keep it simple.

I brought lots of stuff I did not use. I really loved having my own pajama bottoms, slippers, and my own super soft robe. The nurses helped me get it on with the IV line, and it made me happy and warm.

I way overpacked, but that's just me. The things I had that made the most difference were:
    1.Moisturizing mouthwash (biotene)
2.Travel size pillow- to brace my stomach with while walking and the ride home
