Same! I absolutely loved spicy food, but now even at 9 months out it makes me nauseous. Such a shame, because cajun and mexican spices are so delicious, but what can ya do? I've learned not to resent my sleeve, even when it does annoying stuff like ruin jambalaya for me

Almost 5 months out. Love(d) spicy food, but can't do it without paying the price now. If I really want it, I eat a couple of tums before my meal and that helps. I also find I can't handle raw onions anymore without horrible heartburn. That's been an adjustment as they show up in everything!

Milk of Magnesia & Colace (not peri-colace, which is a laxative & stool softener). From what my doctor said about laxatives, it actually does your body a disservice b/c they start to train the bowel muscles to depend on the laxative--but I think it's more dangerous for continued use than just occasional. I used peri-colace in the beginning twice out of sheer desperation after lots of milk of magnesia, benefiber & Miralax Fiber supplements. I didn't realize that peri-colace was a laxative! The colace stool softer works like magic w/ no cramping or discomfort! Good Luck!!!!

I am almost at one year post op. There is nothing I can't eat. It is so nice to feel normal. I don't have the cravings I used to. I usually choose healthy foods and I am very happy to eat them and to eat small portions. I don't feel deprived anymore like I did on "diets".

I am just a few days away from my 1 year anniversary. Still feel great. weight loss has slowed to a crawl but have lost 140 and only have another 12-15 to go so I can live with that. My question or issue of late I find myself hungry and snacking far more then I have. I am still making better choices of Snacks but some days I feel like I could eat all day. does this happen to many people and will it change back in time

I went from being lukewarm on spicy foods to LOVING them after surgery. But you should probably wait to the 6 month point to start introducing spicy stuff into your diet, and go slowly.
By that point, you should be off PPIs and adjusted to being on regular foods.

I'm the same way sleeved only 4 months and love spicy food but OMG it does not like me any more I was hoping this is temporary, so I'm still waiting and try to steer clear of anything spicy

I can eat spicy but I take a daily PPI to counter act it.
I just finished lunch which was a chicken jalapeño sausage dipped in Frank's Red hot and I'm all good!

I've only told my husband, mother, and sister. That's it. Nobody else. The thing about telling people you've had weight loss surgery is that you can't un-tell them. My friend who had surgery the same day as I did, has told everyone and has text me several times in this last 3 months telling me all the horrible things people have said to her. I can just say that I've been very happy with my choice to keep my private business out of the minds and mouths of other people. When people ask how I'm losing weight, I just say low carbs, no sugar. End of conversation.

I can't even believe the way my mind & body have transformed in only 3 months. I feel motivated, grateful, empowered & energetic. This procedure has been life changing for me. I'm around 6'0 tall & have gone from 268 to 207. I still have a way to go & am so thankful for the weight I've lost and my balanced lifestyle with food...however, today, I'm especially grateful for a non-scale victory: Today I'm getting my gray hairs touched up and it finally happened...the SMOCK wraps around me! For a year, the smock barely even came together!!! I know this is a small thing in life, but each time I'd go to the salon I'd say to myself, "one day this smock is going to fit me," and today's the day!

Way to go @@iwillbeachitagain!!! Keep up the good work!
Okay, this is a great topic. I've turned it into one of my non-scale victory GOALS. I attend a bariatric surgery support group once or twice a month & I learn so much from the people who are 2, 3 & 4 years post-surgery. I also get reminded of where I was not very long ago with the newbies who are just entering the program. Anyway, one of my goals is being able to take a few bags of 1x & size 16 clothes to be able to offer anyone who would be interested after the meeting. Can't wait!

What the others said-- get rid of them, except for one or two things to keep as the "before"--like I did to compare my size 20W shorts with my new size 2 shorts.

I donated my stuff in one of the bins as the local elementary school where the proceeds go back to the school. Most of my clothes were cheap things from Target, so they were not worth selling.

I started dieting New Years Day, and was sleeved on Feb 29th.
This morning I can declare that I have hit the milestone of 50b lost! :-) Still want to lose 50 more pounds this year, but I am hitting the gym for moderate workouts 3 days a week and walking 3 other days a week, and although I still need work, I am feeling and looking a lot better and moving a lot easier :-)
