  1. After 2-years post surgery I am 7 pounds away from my target goal of 173 pounds. It has been an easy two years. I've kept religiously to a 1440 calorie a day diet. I am a slow looser. I've gone from highest weight of 309 pounds surgery weight of 274 pounds and today 180 pounds. I haven't used the BP app. I use 'Loose -It" because it converts my steps to calories (I have an iPhone) which subtracts my exercise calories from my calories consumed. I keep my net calories at 1440 and the pounds come off. No stress , no thinking, it's become routine. I am on target to hit it or be near my goal when I have my two year appointment with my Bariatric surgeon on June 16th three days before my 53rd birthday. The 173 pounds is important to me because for my height and age my BMI would be normal not overweight. This would be the best birthday present. I've never been normal on the BMI index. My question is how do you break a routine that has been so helpful. I have several other doctors who have expressed concern over my calorie intake. They say as a man my intake should be 2,300 calories a day. Being on 1440 calories for two years 2,300 calories seems like a lot of food. I don't want to be the biggest looser and see my work go down the drain. Has anyone else been in the situation I am in. That is being comfortable with their routine and being uncomfortable making a big switch. If so what is your new calorie intake.

Guys, what do you consider your ideal pants size ?

I think I've hit bottom. I've gone from a size 52 to a size 30. I've also gone from a size XXL shirt to a size S. Ha ha I'm having trouble finding sizes that fit me. It's taken me a year a half to get this far. I am a slow looser. Many times I've been upset hearing how much people 'have lost. So far I've lost 125 pounds going from 309 to 184 pounds. According to BMI for my height 5'10 I am still over weight. To be normal weight I need to loose another 10 pounds. My PCP says not to loose another pound. My nutritionist says I can loose the 10 pounds but not a pound more. I see my Bariatric surgeon Dr. Rivas at Stanford in June to talk about removing the excess skin. I don't have much because,?I lost so slow but I still want to see to have the procedure done. I've already spoken to my insurance company and they said I am covered and will approve the surgery. I just need the doctor's request. It won't cost me a dine since I am already over my out of pocket maximum for the year. I am 52 and happy with my weigh and clothes sized for the first time in years.

No I don't want a ladies point of view. This is a guys room and we are talking about ourselves. Being told you are too skinny is insulting. Please don't post.

I am a slow looser so it has taken me a year and half since surgery but I finally hit 30W x 30L. That's down from a size 52W two years ago. I feel wonderful. I am flipping over backwards with joy. I never ever dreamed I'd be this small again.
  5. Hi I am new to Bariatric Pal. I am a almost a year and a half out from my surgery which was on June 13, 2014. So far I have lost 120 pounds from my highest weight of 309lbs which was in December 2013. My stats are: HW 309lbs SW. 272lbs CW. 189lbs GW. 209lbs I am 5 ft 9inches tall. I went from a tight size 48 pants to a loose size 32. I went from XXL shirt to a loose M shirt. At first I was stressed out because I thought I was loosing weight too slowly. Now I am happy that I did. I have very little sagging skin. I am almost toned. In this time I had a chance to really change my life style, eating and exercise habits. I took what I thought was a minus and changed it into a plus. For those you who are worried because you think you might be loosing too slowly, well maybe you are. Still remember these things take time and make a commitment to your goals. You will reach your goals if you give the process enough time. I had my surgery at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto, CA. My surgeon was Dr. Rivas. The surgery costs were astronomical. Fortunately I had reached my out of pocket maximum for the year so the pretesting, surgery and post care cost me nothing. My insurance company is Covered California Anthem Blue Cross. Yes that's Obama care. Thanks!

I tried finding an option to stop the email but all I found was a setting to stop notifications which I disabled yet I am still spammed with emails. I now wish I hadn't posted. I am having a bad experience with this site.
