LibrarianBecky got a reaction from UalreadyKnow in Has anybody had problems with their gallbladder after the sleeve
I had rny gastric bypass done 8 months ago. Just had my gallbladder removed two days ago. For me, symptoms were sharp stabbing pains in my upper right abdomen and nausea/vomiting. My surgeon said that the better you do with wls, the more likely you are to have trouble with your gallbladder. Because my gallbladder surgery was just two days ago, I'm in some pain now. I have four new incisions on my belly. It certainly has not made me regret having weight loss surgery, though.

I use them instead of milk to make sugar free instant pudding--delish! I like using them much better than using powdered Protein in the pudding. I also drink them straight. I used vanilla last week to make a gingerbread flavored shake (recipe from PP site) and it was good too.

Be very careful with things like Cappuccino and chai lattes for the kuerig. Many of those have added sugars. My NUT approved regular coffee for me at 6 weeks post op. I use my kuerig everyday to have a cup of coffee in the morning, but only coffee--nothing with added carbs or sweeteners.

i find the caramel very sweet and butterscotchy tasting. For me, this is one I made pudding with, instead of drinking straight generally, as it is my least favorite of the four I have. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Sure...sharp, stabbing pains in the upper right abdomen (for me, very close to the bottom right of my rib cage). Nausea, some vomiting, some diarrhea. Pain also frequently radiates to the back, upper right shoulder blade area for me. Other symptoms (that I don't have) include jaundice and dark colored urine.

I can see where you are coming from with this, but dumping is sometimes presented to a bypass patient as a good thing, in that you can't eat sugar anymore without severe consequences, so it will help you lose weight. Dumping was listed in my information packet as a 'benefit' to the surgery, so I can understand the OP's point of view.

LibrarianBecky got a reaction from Redmaxx in "I didn't recognize you!"
This has been a great weekend for NSVs. I did a tour of an underground cave system, and I never once had to think, "oh lord, please let me fit." I walked up the 60+ stairs at the end without stopping for a break. And, I had a regular customer come up to me to say they didn't recognize me.
I am about six weeks out from RNY, down 80 lbs all together (50 before surgery, 30 since). I feel really good.

My dr office highly suggests some form of birth control for 18 months after surgery. After considering a couple of options, I went with the pill. As far as I know, there are not any forms of birth control that are not recommended for bariatric patients, but definitely ask your gynecologist. Also, I second the person who said be careful-- fertility can be increased after weight loss!

LibrarianBecky got a reaction from M@E in Soft foods? No problem!
I am about 7 months out from rny surgery. I had to have a tooth removed today because it cracked after a root canal. The oral surgeon told me to 'try' to do a soft food diet for a day or two, if I can. LOL....two days of soft food? Buddy, I did two weeks of liquids and six weeks of soft foods....two days is no big deal.
Made me smile, so I thought I would share.

LibrarianBecky reacted to Trayjay33 in Let's Talk about Iron
I have had issues with low Iron levels even prior to surgery and it actually has not been too bad after. I have had to get Iron infusions at certain points due to the inability to tolerate oral iron supplements. I will suggest green leafy vegetables which are high in iron such as spinach and broccoli. Also, organ meat such as liver as well. Those work well to bring up iron stores and the vegetables help with Constipation that iron supplements seem to help cause. Hopefully your iron stores go up soon.
