ashmarie1425 got a reaction from ~Pam~64~ in HIP 2.0 PLUS
Hey ladies! I'm in the St Vincent's program 5 months in...my last group visit is 2/8/16, then my Dr visit, then surgery date...I am also on HIP, it just switched to Hip 2.0 this month...before I even started I called HiP and made sure that my specific health plan covered WLS and she said yes just need prior authorization from surgeon. I am getting nervous that everything is going to go wrong and something will happen that will cause me to not have the surgery! Idk why just my anxiety! That's all the info I have on the insurance crap St Vs said they would take care of it all ???? if y'all hear of any info I would love to know as well! Good Luck Ladies!

JanaJ I am the EXACT same as u!! SCARED!! I'm scheduled for May 3rd so I'm sure this month will creep by as slowly as possible! I am not a very good patient when it comes to pain but like I said I'm pretty sure a lot of it is the anxiety of what I think the pain maybe I'm scared that I won't have enough pain medicine and I'm going to be in excruciating pain that is if I make it out of surgery alive!! Aghhh I'm such a chicken shit lol I am so excited for u and u WILL do great!!! We all will!! [emoji106]????[emoji6]

This really has not been bad at all! My pain has never been above a 4/10 since I woke up! I have been very hydrated here and I can tell because I am getting puffy, but all in all I am doing great!

I will be at Floyd Memorial Hospital. I want to use Dr. John Oldam and that is the only Indiana facility he is affiliated with.

Hello fellow Hoosier, I'm a week and a half post op from VSG doing great. I worked with St Francis. Great people! The time goes fast even though it seems like forever at times, can't believe I'm on the other side now. Best of luck to you. I don't regret anything.

I am in Southern Indiana. I don't have a surgery date yet either. Working through the 6 month supervised diet until I get my date. I have told my husband, cousin, and bosses and that is it. Not sure if I will tell anyone else.

After 10 years of watching my weight creep up up up into the 200s and finally topping out at 260, I am finally seeing a 1 before my weight again! I really like it here, I'm never going back!!! Another 8 lbs and I'll weigh what I lied and told the DMV I weighed LOL

Just the other day I was recommending this site to someone beginning her WLS journey and in doing so realized how influential this forum has been to me. I do not post often; but I avidly read and take in the experiences of others. I firmly believe that knowledge is power and that my success thus far is because there were very, very few surprises thanks in large part to this forum. During my 6 month supervised diet phase, I educated myself every day about the surgery and the lifestyle changes that had to occur as well as the insurance logistics. My surgery date came and went with no surprises because I had read so many of the accounts of others. When my first stall happened it was no biggie. I read and reread the countless other posts of the exact same thing happening, again, no surprise. My focus now is maintenance and I still come on most days to be inspired and forewarned by the experiences of others who have reached goal and are maintaining. One thing that always helped me was seeing that WLS does work and real people lost real weight. I decided this morning to post before and after pictures not to receive any esteem boosting feedback but rather to encourage others who are beginning their journey or in the middle when the weight seems to be coming off slowly and the negative thoughts start that you will not make it. You will make it and it will so be worth it.

Hey y'all! This is my 1st post...I don't have my surgery date yet, hopefully it will be late Feb-March 2016. I have to complete 180 days with the dietitian...then I have my appointment with my surgeon and he will schedule my surgery!! Started August 6, 2015 Finished my Psych evaluation last month!! I will be having the RNY I'm so excited to start this new chapter in my life ☺️ oh I am not planning on telling anyone!!! The only people that know are my mom & aunt!! They will be my support after surgery! Has anyone else not told people?? I'm not sure What I'm going to say I'm having done maybe my gallbladder taken out?! Aghhh I have so many judgmental people in my I just would rather keep it to myself...

Good luck on your surgery. I basically told everyone even strangers on the street. Most people were either supportive or curious. But then again I don't suffer from the stigma of going through too many yo-yo diets. (Lose weight only to gain it back and then some.) It's your decision who to tell.

I chose only to tell some very select people too, and I don't regret it, honestly. It's a huge change in your life but after a couple weeks have gone by post op, and you're healed enough that no one could tell you even had surgery, then you just keep working hard and losing and no one has to be the wiser. I, too, wanted to avoid the judgey or "well-meaning" ignorant people who think they know everything about WLS because their coworker's sister's daughter once had a lap band and she's gained it all back. It's been wonderful not dealing with that, and that would have been inevitable if I had announced it to everyone.
You do what feels right to you. You have all of us here to support you, which does help. This site has been so good for my anxiety and excitement pre and post op. The people here are generally very kind and understanding, and they will laugh with you, cry with you when things really suck (and they probably will at some point, but it will pass) and Celebrate your huge victories with you. They understand what you're going through more than anyone else would.
Congratulations on all the hard work you've done, and the super exciting times ahead. Feel free to friend me if you'd like. You'll probably be seeing me around.
