L.Harmony got a reaction from Mogwaicat in October List of Surgery's
I had my surgery Oct 28th, lately my emotions have been all over the place. I'm not sure why, I'm thinking some of the reasons are:
Being off of my birth control for so long.
    Adjusting to the change.
    Holidays
And more. . My question is since surgery has anyone else have some emotional days?

I just crossed the 2-month post-op mark and while I concede it might just be the honeymoon phase talking, I feel like I'm finally finding some emotional and mental stability. The past few years I've been a mess at times: Moody, socially anxious, angry... but I've (and family) noticed lately that I'm in a better mood with more patience. Just curious if others have experienced similar changes and if you found them to be temporary or permanent?

L.Harmony got a reaction from cparni in Scared to finish the process
It was my third surgery and it's human nature to be nervous and scared of the unknown. In Sept of this year I had foot surgery and it was such a difficult surgery. I was so nervous about my surgery because of it. My doctor told me that it is an easier surgery than foot.
I was questioning it.... but I was then reminded that it took a year to get everything together and ready. And wrote down a list of all of the reasons I wanted the surgery. And I kept adding to it. I mainly remember the week before I was nervous but I'm a month out and can barely remember those feelings. It is worth it. I do recommend getting a notebook and start writing down all of these thoughts, feelings, doubts and reasons. I'm not going to read my notebook until my one year mark. Those are my thoughts, just know you are not alone. It is normal. Plus everyone is different, I was in the hospital for 2 days. After a day or two I forgot I had just had surgery.
Being nervous is necessary for the process.

I went to the dentist and he gave me a syringe to clean the flap of skin that covers the tooth. The surgeon does not want me getting it out that close to surgery. I will have to get it out 4-6 weeks after surgery. I do however have a sinus infection now:( My surgery is scheduled Dec 1st. I called my surgeon and he said it should be fine, cause I will be cleared up by then. Thank you for the replies I was so worried. I'm def not looking forward to getting out after surgery :/

that seemed like a lot when you posted the amts, but I'm just basing that off what I've read from peeps that r many years post surgery... But, I'm not sure! I would not force it...?... If u hunger for that much, then great, but if not, I'd probably not try to meet those goal amts... Just my thoughts, lol, for what they r worth!

Hope everyone had a great thanksgiving! I was able to enjoy thanksgiving, surprisingly. Turkey, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes and cooked carrots. Everything went down great. We walked a ton all weekend as well. And yet. I'm still in my stall! I've been stuck at 233-236 for almost 2 weeks now. Any tips of how to jump start my weight loss again.
Lately all I've been craving is coffee. I miss the warmth this year. I've been trying hot herbal teas, but it's not the same. I can not wait to have coffee again. And drinks. I miss wine with dinner! My husband is italian... so his family drinks wine constantly.
The only food aversion I've had lately is red sauce. It makes me sick instantly. Everything else I seem to do fine with now, as long as I eat slow, small bites and chew.
Pesto spaghetti squash with chicken for dinner tonight. And probably some fresh cooked carrots.

    Hey everyone!
I was referred to this site by a girl I met in our 6 months of mandatory classes. She said such great things about this site that I joined last night and already purchased from the store.
My last mandatory class is 12/4. I get submitted for approval 12/6. My surgery is already scheduled for 12/28 at 7:30 am. My 7 day liquid only diet is going on over Christmas!
Am I scared? Sort of...but not terrified.
Do I wish the surgery would hurry up and get done? Oh yeah...so done with the waiting.
I will be reading as much as I can from everyone and I thank you all for your sharing. It helps so many of us!

I had RNY on 11/9 and I've noticed that I'm losing weight from the top down! It's so weird! My face is thin now and I've lost a couple of top sizes, but my bottom half is still the same size! I feel like one of those bopping balloons or something that you hit and it wobbles but sits right back up! Did anyone else lose like this and when did the bottom half kick in?

I lose and gain exactly the same way - proportionally. I was pretty sad for the first 3 months as I couldn't see any difference in how I looked (despite my clothes being looser), until my husband pointed out that I was losing weight from everywhere so it wouldn't be obvious unless I compared past photos. Even my feet and fingers are smaller - I've had to get new rings twice so far!!

I have one of the top surgeons in my state and I felt the exact same way you do. I felt that way right up until they gave me the shot to knock me out. It is very normal to have jitters or even doubt your decision.
I can tell you that the first few weeks may be hard. If you are like me you may hate yourself after surgery for the first 2 weeks because you made the biggest decision of your life. THEN.... you get to day 9. (or maybe day 6 or day 11) Then you realize that you are so happy with your decision. I am 2 months out and it is the best decision I have ever made in my life. THE BEST!!! I completely forget I even had surgery sometimes. I feel normal. I just don't eat like I used to.
What you are going through is completely normal.

I'm curious what are you looking forward to being able to do or see in yourself.
Me? I can't wait to see my collar bones again, to be able to cross my legs like a woman and to be able to sit with my knees to my chest.
    What about you??

Hi! I also had RNY on Nov. 9! I gained 8lbs in the hospital so I was livid! I've lost about 10lbs and was very discourage too. To many people post about losing 20+ the first few weeks. My dr is very happy at where I was at the 2 weeks. He said focus on healing! As the swelling goes down and your body bounces back from the surgery, I will see more weight loss. He also said NOT to do any exercise except walking until after my 4 week post op appointment. The final thing he reminded me is that the more someone weighs, the faster it will come off at first. So if someone else started at 350 and I was at 250, then their first 2 weeks would show a bigger weight loss! Keep your head up! We can do this!
