frazildazil reacted to paradise farm in Hi New member
My name is Paul and I have my sleeve surgery scheduled for Dec 1. Been on pre-op diet and no deviation. It's been tough no doubt. Hopefully the liver shrinks as needed. Started back in May June going through the paces. Started out at 335. Currently at 280. Nervous and excited all at once. If I can get through Thanksgiving on this pre op I feel I can make it!

Hi frazildazil,
We have had patients that have traveled as far away as Australia and South Africa. None have had any problems.

frazildazil reacted to jembell01 in Losing trust in my husband
I am so glad I posted this. I never thought about it from his perspective. He is so supportive of the surgery, I never considered that he might have just needed to tell someone to get it off his chest. I mean, he did tell his Mom and my Dad, which are the closest people to him besides me.
I really appreciate the feedback. I owe my husband an apology for being so hard on him.

I totally get where you're coming from, and I'm on your side. But, I think it helps to remember that your surgery might be worrying him. I know we are the ones going through it, but they are along for the ride as well. I didn't really understand until recently how deeply worried my guy was. He is afraid that I'll die or have complications. He never said anything because he wanted to be 100% supportive.
Perhaps your husband is worried and can't help but talk about it. Sometimes men aren't good at addressing their feelings head on. Unless he was deliberately trying to undermine you, it might be more productive to find a way to forgive and reassure him.
I know, it's a crazy thing to suggest when you feel betrayed, but there are times when empathy works better than resentment.

I have the same date. No liquid diet here though. It sounds miserable. Good luck!

frazildazil reacted to BCs 1000 in Aussie girl sleeve Fri 28 August!
I am now 8 weeks post op. Feeling really great. I did try to push myself the other night to eat dinner and threw up. I was only at 40 grams of Protein for the days so even though I wasn't feeling great before I started eating I kept going....
I find it quite difficult to get the required amount of protein in each day. I am forcing myself to eat when I am not hungry at all.
At least the Water is now easier to get down now.
Including 2 weeks of Optifast, I am down 25kg which is very encouraging.
Great to see we are all doing so well.
Congratulations everyone ????????

All going well over here - 17kgs down, just over 2 months since surgery. Clothes loser, energy levels up, tarted socialising again.
Currently in a cottage ni Cornwall with friends, then head back to London for 2 days before a week in the Carribean....
This is aided by the fact I have worked 12 hour days the lst 2 weeks icluding weekend....so 2 weeks off was happily aporved by the boss! (Note: I am self employed.....)

It's not an easy way out..believe me! Anyone that doesn't support you doesn't want what you want. I'm sure there are people that think that of me too. But I had to for work and am thankful I did. Everyone is great. Its hard after surgery..im still adjusting physically and mental. So it's hard work but in a different way.

Great stuff, Ifrit!
The rate I'm going, I'll be twenty kilos heavier by the time December ninth roles around. I just can't seem to stop the food funeral - pizza, tuna Pasta bake (which I love and hadn't had for years), all sorts of junk .... I do well for a day or two and then bang, it's back to eating whatever I feel like, whenever I feel like. I seriously want it to stop because I don't want to have to take off what I've just put on, but can't seem to help myself.
Sigh.
Roles = rolls

So much easier to not tell everyone. I don't want to really talk about it all the time and have people watching my weight loss etc.
I'm telling people that I've stopped drinking alcohol for a while and that I'm following a Paleo diet, high Protein etc.
I'm feeling much like my old self again now at the 5 weeks post-op. Playing netball again, and trying to fit in a few walks etc. I will really need to focus on Fluid intake though as this warmer weather is a bit taxing if you feel dehydrated.
Best of luck for a great day everyone.

My husband and i are both getting the sleeve. Surgery booked for 5th December. We had to start our preop diet early because we will be on a cruise (it was booked way before we decided to get the sleeve ). Come back from the cruise and 3 days later will be having the surgery. Aim is to try and loose as much as possible before hand and be sensible on our holiday. The shakes diet is tough though not sure how you all managed it

Hi, I'm also in Sydney. 5 weeks post-op today. I've lost 10kgs altogether. I'm on soft diet this week, but it seems much the same as puree to me. I'm finding it hard to get all my fluids in each day and have to constantly remind myself to drink Water.< /p>
I'm using bio-oil on my op incisions, hoping they will fade out over the next few months. I haven't told any friends about my surgery, just my hubby and close family. It felt too big a deal to be discussing it with too many people. I couldn't face other peoples ideas/questions and opinions.
I am a low BMI sleever and like one of you said I wish there had been another way but after years of trying it just felt right for me to go this path. I'm really happy with my decision, no regrets, just need to adjust to the small amounts of food I can eat now.(i've had a few uncomfortable moments after eating just one mouthful too many). I haven't been shopping yet just wearing all my usual clothes with a few belts hitching in at the waist so my pants stay up. It's amazing the difference 10kgs has already made. I can't imagine how I will feel after another 10kgs disappear.

I don't think I have regrets. It's a wake up call both how little we need to eat to survive and also that I will never eat a 3 course meal again. I wish there was a different way I could have done it but I truly believe the science - that only 10% of people once obese will ever be able to return to a 'normal weight' long term. This surgery gets rid of the hormones that work against us in losing weight. But it's still up to us to break the unhealthy dependency on food

Hey Victoria! Great to have another Aussie in here! All the pounds talk does my non mathematical head in! I'm 2.5 weeks post op, lost 11kgs since starting prep diet. Energy levels fantastic, all healed. Tolerating purée with a few soft cheats thrown in. Back at work. I had so many doubts and fears pre- op. Now I'm so confident I've done the best thing for my future self!! Good luck and feel free to ask, check in or unleash here. You're with friends.
