Congrats on keeping up with the weight loss! It was very interesting to read the self-check you posted. Before my surgery (which was only 5 weeks ago) I would have checked almost every item! But now I don't relate to any of them. Hope this continues! Thanks for posting this!

Awesome! I'm glad you're overwhelmed in a good way!

@MinaDina. THANK YOU! You are so right. I guess I am one who seeks the approval of others, and I need to quit doing that! My husband reminded me that my doctor, while good, is not Mr. Personality, and an "ok" from him is probably as good as it gets. Either way, you are right. I have a lot to be proud of! Thanks for putting this in perspective for me.
As for you.... 1 week to go! I know you're excited. I was anxious, nervous, and excited before my bypass! I wish you well. Please let me know how your surgery goes.

I'm 5 weeks and 3 days post op and had my 2nd follow-up today with the surgeon. I've lost about 30 pounds and he said that was "OK." Just OK? I don't know why I didn't ask him why it was just okay. But, I feel disappointed, because I was feeling proud of that weight loss before I saw him. Now, I'm thinking it's not enough to be proud about.

The powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Unflavored isn't bad. I can't taste it in most things, but it does seem to have a slight flavor. Beans probably have a strong enough flavor that you wouldn't actually taste the Protein powder.< /p>

So, I'm 5 weeks post op and don't really feel like eating. I've not been getting my Proteins in the last few days and may not be getting my fluids in. I was doing okay, and then all of a sudden I just don't feel like eating anything. The things I was eating a week ago don't taste good to me anymore. Water doesn't taste good anymore. I've had trouble with feeling like my food is stuck a few times and since then I haven't wanted to eat anything. I know I need to eat something and get these proteins in but I'm just struggling. Nothing appeals to me. Not sure what to do. I could really use your suggestions if you've been through this. Thanks in advance for your help!

Glad you had a great experience! I did too! I told my husband, if it wasn't for these incisions I wouldn't think I'd had surgery! Hope you continue to do well!

I made popsicles with SF drink mix. They were great!

Our stats are similar. I'm 5 weeks post op and have lost 29.5 pounds. The first 3 weeks I lost 21 pounds, but it has slowed down now to 3 to 5 pounds a week.
Good Luck!

Awesome! Best of everything for you!!!

I had chicken broth, sugar-free Jello, and sugar-free popsicles -- all with unflavored Protein powder added. And, of course, Water. I had something about every 3-4 hours or so.

@@Pegasus012587 I have a follow up next week. I will let you know what my surgeon says. (I'm assuming that I'm eating too fast - even though it doesn't seem that way to me - or something like that.

I hope your insomnia goes away soon!
-
I started having insomnia about a week after surgery. It was bad for about three weeks. I would go to bed feeling sleepy but couldn't get to sleep until 3a.m. Or so then wake up 3 hrs later feeling wide awake. Now, in week 5, it has gotten a lot better. Thankfully!

Thank you all for the reassurance!

Ditto on the chap stick! That's the one thing I used a lot!! The nurse gave me lozenges because my throat actually hurt more than my stomach. Apparently the entubation can irritate your throat.

I'm sorry to hear that your case manager is not very responsive. I was very fortunate in that my surgeon's office has a great support team. They always return my calls promptly. I've read that others have had similar problems so I am blessed. I would keep calling them or even stop by the office. Ask them when the paperwork was submitted and when they expect to hear something.

I'm 52 and 5 weeks post op. My stats are similar to yours. I'm 5'4" and was 250lbs. I had sleep apnea (which I believe is already gone), but I don't have the other health problems you have. Regardless, I've struggled with my weight for the last 20 years. Up and down with more ups than downs. I realized that 20 years was long enough to prove that I needed help with this. You know whether or not you can get healthy on your own or not. There's no shame in getting help! I'm so glad that I did this!
