I'm in VA and looking for support!!!!

Hello All! I had Gastric Bypass on July 14, 2016. My highest weight was 275. I have lost weight on my own many times but always fail to keep it off. When I started my WLS journey, I weighed in at 258. The day of surgery, I weighed 236 and I currently weight 185. My next post of visit is November 7. At my last post op (September 7), my surgeon told me she expected me to lose another 30 to 40 pounds by November 7th. I have only lost 3!!!!
I am happy with my results so far, but I am concerned that I have started my self destructive ways that always tend to get the best of me. I am able to eat pretty much ANYTHING. NO DUMPING! I have started eating carbs again and I need motivation to stop! I haven't gained, but I know I should be taking advantage of this time. I have also slacked in going to the gym since I went back to work. :-(
Anyone willing to be a support buddy????

I use propel all the time. According to my surgeon it is very acceptable. I like to mix GENEPRO flavorless Protein in with the strawberry/kiwi flavor to get my Protein in. It does change the color but definitely not the taste! It has been a life savor especially since for a while I could not stand the thought of milk based protein.

Bypass is only a tool, and is not a cure all.
We now have the responsibility to use this tool and plan, track and manage our intake and exercise to get and stay where we need to be at.
I could see that if I did not plan and stick to the macros, even with a pouch, I could over eat calories and carbs to derail my progress.
I too can eat anything and no real dumping. Also, due to revision, I have a much larger pouch than many others, and the volume I can eat at a sitting can seem huge. Luckily small amounts keeps me satisfied, I eat 5 to 6 small meals a day, and do not go over my allotted calories and carbs each day.
Each of us has a different challenge, and ours is our bypass does not control fully what we can eat.

Hi. I am 4 1/2 weeks post-op from having a band to bypass conversion. Looking for any locals for additional support.

My name is Martha, I am 31 yrs. old I have always battled with my weight. I was willing to do anything even the other types of surgeries, luckly my husband heard of the band and gave me tons of info on it, so I began looking up info talking to my doctor about and decided to go for it. I am scheduled for my ban september 22 in Monterry Mex. with Dr. Rumbout. I am a little nervous, (will it work for me, will it hurt, can I keep it up) but I am optimistic, it has worked for many the way I see it has to work for me. Wish me luck. Martha

Hang in there & stay the course. I hope you find the support you need. This forum is great for that. When it's all said & done it'll be the best decision you've ever made. It'll change your life. You'll feel better, look better, & live longer. You'll have a new outlook on life. You'll change your eating habits. Your new motto will be I eat to live, Not I live to eat. Buying new clothes will be fun. If you're on medications you'll probably get off of them. There is nothing but Good Times ahead for you. DO NOT let negative & pessimistic people bring you down. YOU ARE ABOUT TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE IN A BIG WAY!!. I'm 10 months post open & have lost 150 lbs so far. 80 more to go and I feel fantastic. No more insulin shots for me. No more sleep apnea for me. No more 10 prescriptions daily for me. Buying clothes is fun again. Get to sit in booths at restaurants instead of tables. Fit in airline seats again. Heart rate & blood pressure perfect. First of all ask yourself why you would even give a rats a** what two strangers have to say? Who cares! People are always giving their two cents about grown folks lives! No, one ones knows your life struggle and you don't know why they are so dang nosey! You're obviously doing what you feel is best. Keep it movin sister!

Thanks again yall I was just notified that once Optum approve me then the send it to UHC then they have 1 to 3 days to medically review it by a doctor. So hopefully I will hear by Tuesday. But I will aggravate them until then lol
